Brownsburg’s Field of Honor Pays Tribute to Veterans

Join Brownsburg in honoring our heroes with a moving display of gratitude and remembrance.

Starting November 8, the Town of Brownsburg will feature an inspiring display of 250 United States flags arranged in a solemn formation at the Brownsburg Town Hall Green.

The new Field of Honor program honors the bravery and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. Each flag represents an individual veteran and tells a unique story. Flags can be dedicated to honor individuals within our community.

From June 23 through September 30, flags can be purchased for $50 and dedicated to a veteran. The flags are American-made and 3’ x 5’. Each purchased flag will recieve a certificate to recognize their donation.

Purchased flags will be part of a moving display of 250 American flags, installed at Town Hall Green, 61 N. Green St., from November 8 through Veterans Day on November 11. Dedications will be recognized on signs throughout the Field of Honor.

To mark the beginning of the display, a special Veterans Day ceremony and field dedication will be held on Saturday, November 8, providing a meaningful way to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Proceeds from the Field of Honor will benefit the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund, which provides vital financial support to Indiana service members and their families.

Flags can be purchased and dedicated online at brownsburg.org/fieldofhonor After the event, purchased flags can be picked up at Brownsburg Town Hall beginning November 13.

Bryan Herta Autosport Relocates Operations to Brownsburg

Bryan Herta Autosport, a two-time Indy 500, seven consecutive Sports Car Championship Winning seasons, and Pikes Peak Record setting auto racing franchise, announced plans today to relocate its Indiana operations. Establishing its global headquarters in Brownsburg and bringing new jobs, including specialized motorsports engineers and trained mechanics, to the community.

Bryan Herta commented, “We are thrilled to make the Town of Brownsburg our new permanent address. Many of the top race teams in the US across multiple disciplines call Brownsburg home, and we have already found the town to be an ideal location for the next chapter in our team’s story. As we continue to expand and take on new challenges, this location will allow us to continue to compete at the top levels of the sport and provide a turnkey solution for future growth and expansion.”

The company plans to invest more than $2.1 million to update the 38,000 square-foot facility at 474 Southpoint Circle in Brownsburg, transforming the building into their state-ofthe-art racing headquarters. The facility will serve as the base of operations for Bryan Herta Autosport’s current NTT INDYCAR SERIES, IMSA programs, and other future racing initiatives. The company expects to be fully operational in Brownsburg by fall 2025.

“Brownsburg has long been a cornerstone of the motorsports community, and our enduring partnership with Bryan Herta Autosport has played a pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition,” said Brownsburg Town Council President Travis Tschaenn. “Their investment further underscores our Town’s growing reputation as a hub for racing excellence.”

Founded in 2009, Bryan Herta Autosport has established itself as a leader in professional racing, earning multiple championships and victories in open-wheel and sports car competitions. As the official North American partner of Hyundai Motorsport, BHA has played a pivotal role in the success of the Hyundai N TCR program in IMSA’s Michelin Pilot Challenge series.

“We are thrilled that Bryan Herta Autosport has selected Brownsburg as their new headquarters,” said Brownsburg Town Manager Deb Cook. “Motorsports is the heart of Brownsburg and we are confident that our vibrant, welcoming community will provide the ideal environment for their continued success and future growth.”

splash pad at williams park open for the summer

The splash pad at Williams Park reopened at the end of May, following extensive renovations

Originally built in 2015, the 10-year-old facility underwent significant improvements, including expanded play areas, additional water features, and upgraded drainage. The underground water lines have also been enhanced to improve functionality. To provide more comfort for visitors, new picnic tables with umbrellas have been added, offering extra shade for supervising adults, while shade sails remain throughout the play space.

10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 31. It will be closed on Tuesdays for maintenance until 3:30 p.m. and may close at any time due to maintenance or severe weather. The temperature must be at least 72 degrees for the splash pad to operate.

The aquatic play facility provides fun for the whole family with

The splash pad, located at the back of Williams Park at 940 S. Locust Ln., is open daily from

interactive spray and play features. This zero-depth splash pad offers a variety of water sensations, including flowing, misting, and jetting. With over 30 features spread across

three distinct play areas, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The toddler bay includes smaller, gentle spray features designed for little ones, while another bay offers exciting spray cannons and splashing effects. Families can come together in the shared bay, which now features a thrilling 21-foot-tall tipping bucket that pours 40 gallons of water every 5-6 minutes. Each sequence lasts 4 minutes before the activator needs to be pushed again. The splash pad uses a 3,000-gallon recirculation tank for water treatment. UV and chemical treatments keep the water as clean and safe as possible.

Looking ahead, the adjacent playground will be resurfaced with a rubber pour-in-place surface, creating a safer and more comfortable transition for kids as they move between the playground and splash pad.

The facility is free to use.

park basketball courts open after renovations

The outdoor basketball courts at Arbuckle Acres Park and Williams Park were renovated this spring. Work included milling and resurfacing the existing asphalt courts, replacing basketball goals and backboards, installing new

striping for full-court and half-court play, and making additional site improvements to enhance safety and accessibility.

“Our crews will work around the clock, inspecting hydrants and valves for operational issues. This is important work to ensure this life-saving equipment is ready to be used when needed,” said Frank

Monts, Water Utilities Director of Drinking Water.

Crews will began flushing hydrants in April and will move through neighborhoods through September.

Brownsburg Awarded $2 million in Grant Funding For

New Roundabout

The Town of Brownsburg has been awarded

$2,044,196 from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO) Transportation Policy Committee for a roundabout at the E. CR 300 N. and N. CR 900 E intersection. The project will convert the existing

All-Way Stop intersection into a single-lane roundabout and multi-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists. The project will begin design later this year, with construction funding awarded in 2028.

New traffic signal at s. Green st. and Northfield dr.

Work will begin this summer to install a traffic signal at the intersection of S. Green St. and Northfield Dr.

Main street reopens to traffic

Main Street in Brownsburg has reopened to twoway traffic between Green Street and Grant Street, marking the completion of an important underground infrastructure improvement project in downtown Brownsburg.

Brownsburg’s downtown was home to some of the oldest utility lines in town, including aging brick sewers. As part of this project, the Town worked to enhance and replace critical sections of the

drinking water system along Main Street and College Avenue. In addition to upgrading water lines, the improvements included the installation of a new stormwater system and enhancements to the sanitary sewer system. These critical upgrades were essential to ensure long-term reliability of the town’s infrastructure.

INDOT is responsible for Main Street/US 136 and plans to resurface all of US 136 this summer.

Once installed, the light will be flashing to inform drivers for

the first few days. By the end of the summer, it will be fully operational.

The Town of Brownsburg will continue to monitor intersections for potential improvements.

MEMORIAL MARKER

LEGEND RODGER WARD UNVEILED

The Town of Brownsburg and the Indiana Racing Memorial Association unveiled a new memorial marker on the Brownsburg Racing Memorial Trail honoring two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rodger Ward in May.

Rodger Ward, a revered figure in American motorsports history, secured victories at the Indianapolis 500 in 1959 and 1962, leaving an indelible mark on the world of racing. Rodger also played an integral part in Brownsburg’s history, as a part owner and founding partner of Indianapolis Raceway Park.

The Indiana Racing Memorial Association has been instrumental in preserving the history of racing in Indiana. The organization works tirelessly to create memorials that honor the great drivers, mechanics, and contributors to the sport.

The event is open to the public, and racing enthusiasts, community members, and local officials are encouraged to attend the unveiling ceremony. This is the sixth memorial marker to be unveiled as part of the Brownsburg Racing Memorial Trail to celebrate motorsports history in Indiana.
