It was so great to see so much excitement and participation at many winter events that were held in our town.
As we look ahead to spring and summer , families will soon be registering their children in baseball, soccer, and lacrosse and we will have many events and sporting events to enjoy.
I’ve personally been joining the 50+ Walking Club at the Abbey Centre on Tuesday mornings at 10am. It is great to see so many active residents from Blackfalds and Lacombe County not only staying active but also using the time to meet new people or reconnect with someone!
The Blackfalds Seniors Club hosts a Jam Session at the Community Centre on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 1-4pm. If you enjoy old time music and dancing, this is a hidden gem in our community. People from
Mayor 's Message
across Central Alberta join in the fun, and it is a fantastic place to make new friends. I love to attend as it brings back many memories of the family dances I grew up with. I hope to see you there!
Blackfalds will host many tournaments this year including the Senior C Lacrosse Provincials in July, Girls Provincial Softball Tournaments in July, Ladies Fast Pitch Provincials in July, and Ladies Fast Pitch National Championship in August.
One of my favorite summer events is Blackfalds Days! A celebration that truly brings our community together. There's a parade, youth events, an outdoor market, food trucks, entertainment for the children, and a spectacular fireworks display in the evening.
The Abbey Centre‘s Outdoor Aquatic Centre is the place to be in the summer, especially on a hot sunny day! Whether you prefer swimming, waterslides, or reading a book by the pool, it’s a wonderful place to spend time with your family and friends. The Abbey Centre also
offers summer camps for the children and fitness classes as well as other programs to keep everyone active all season long.
Spring and Summer are a great way to make memories with your friends and loved ones in Blackfalds. I look forward to seeing many of you out and about in our community.
With so many exciting events and activities happening throughout the season, be sure to stay up to date on all activities and initiatives by visiting www.blackfalds.ca or connecting with us on Facebook, Instagram, and X using #myblackfalds and #visitblackfalds. For full details on upcoming events, check out the Town’s events calendar at blackfalds.ca/events.
As always, feel free to reach out to your community leaders with any thoughts or questions.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026 • APRIL 19–25, 2026
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 24 million volunteers for the incredible impact they make in communities across the country, including right here in Blackfalds.
The theme for National Volunteer Week 2026 is Ignite Volunteerism. This year’s theme recognizes the spark that volunteers bring to their communities, the energy, passion, and commitment that light the way for meaningful change. When volunteers step forward, they ignite inspiration in others, fueling a chain reaction of connection, compassion, and community-building.
In Blackfalds, volunteers are the driving force behind so many programs, events, and initiatives. Their contributions, whether bold or behind the scenes, help our community shine brighter and grow stronger.
DURING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026, WE COME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE THE PEOPLE WHO IGNITE VOLUNTEERISM IN BLACKFALDS AND ACROSS CANADA.
