The expanded trail system offers many connections between neighbourhoods, parks, and key recreation facilities—so get outside and make the most of it!
The Sterling Industries Sports Park will once again be a hub of action, welcoming teams and tournaments from across

For those looking to make a splash, the Abbey Centre Aquatic Centre is the place to be! With its pools, waterslides, and outdoor lounging areas, it’s a fantastic spot to cool off and have fun all summer long. And don’t forget—the Abbey Centre also offers a variety of fitness classes, youth and senior programs, and summer camps to keep everyone engaged and active.
One of the highlights of the season is Blackfalds Days, where the community comes alive with a weekend full of fun, including a parade, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and more.

Cancellations and Withdrawals
The Outdoor Aquatic Centre reserves the right to cancel any registered swim program due to:
• Insufficient registration numbers
• Unforeseen safety considerations
• Facility or equipment failure
• Inclement weather conditions including a high Air Quality Index rating (8 or higher)
The Outdoor Aquatic Centre will try to combine or adjust swim programs prior to cancelling the swim program. You will be contacted by phone or email prior to the start of the swim program to inform you of any program adjustments or cancellations.
A full refund or credit will be provided for any swim program that is cancelled.
Rainy Days
Lessons will still operate as normal on rainy days and children will be expected to participate in their swim lessons on those days. If the parent/legal guardian decides not to attend because of rain, the child will be marked absent and no refund or make up class will be scheduled.

In case of lightning or extreme weather, swim classes will be cancelled until it is safe to enter the Aquatic Centre again. No refund or make-up classes will be offered.
The pool will close at the first sight of lightning or rumble of thunder and will re-open 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or lightning strike.

Pool Contaminations

To help reduce the risk of contamination, anyone who is incontinent must wear a swim diaper. Children who are being potty trained should be encouraged to use the bathroom prior to entering the pool and take frequent bathroom breaks during swimming. MARK YOUR CALENDARS
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2024 WILL BE TAKING PLACE APRIL 27 - MAY 3, 2025
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to celebrate and thank Canada's 24 million volunteers.
The theme for National Volunteer Week 2025 is Volunteers Make Waves. It highlights the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts across Canada. Like a wave, volunteering is movement building.
Water is in constant motion, always flowing, shifting, and transforming with every powerful wave or quiet ripple. And so is each volunteer’s contribution toward creating impact in our communities. Each individual volunteer contribution, big or small, creates momentum and has the power to influence and inspire, joining a wave of positive change.
DURING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2025, WE COME TOGETHER TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE ALL THE WAYS VOLUNTEERS MAKE WAVES FROM COAST TO COAST TO COAST. TOGETHER WE CREATE RIPPLES OF CHANGE. AND THROUGH THE POWER OF OUR AMPLIFIED IMPACT, VOLUNTEERS MAKE WAVES.
