Talk about rowdy behavior at the reception.

Today, Amber says, fewer couples are including the bouquet and garter toss at their receptions.

“Of all the couples I’ve worked with, about 50 percent forgo the practice entirely. Of the remaining couples, 25 percent do both the bouquet and garter toss, and 25 percent do the bouquet toss only.”

Amber suggests that the reason for the practice’s decline has to do with the age of today’s brides and grooms and their friends.

“Younger brides are more excited to toss the bouquet and garter because they have more single friends to catch them,” she says. “Younger couples also don’t mind rowdier reception behavior. As you age, though, it seems less exciting to have your parents and friends watch your new husband retrieve your garter.”
