Simplistic by design, Tournesol has created a kit-of-parts to help get you started. To download, visit our CAD & Models page and use the drop-down menus to select Pots & Planters and Kitsap, then download the ‘Kitsap Kit-of-Parts.’

Modify

You can use plans and drawings of any kind to start your project, and a Tournesol Advisor will connect with you to discuss details. Set length, height, angles, and curves to suit your plans.

Consult

If you prefer, you may choose to start with your plans and elevation drawings. Tournesol Advisors are happy to provide planning and specifying assistance, and can review your plans at any point in the development process.

Unit height 6”- 48”. Runs of any length, units can vary from 12”L to 96”L.

Wall heights can change in elevation from 6”- 48”.

Standard Options

Our standard options can be added to many of our products to meet project needs. Note that we have capabilities beyond the options listed and we can create products to meet your exact specifications. For something off-menu, speak to a Tournesol Advisor.

Lift Channels

Moving large planters on the job site can be challenging. By adding lift channels, you can safely and quickly move planters on site. We have two configurations for lift channels: pallet jack or forklift.

Toe Kick

Planters with toe kicks (reveals) are available in several standard sizes. In addition, some products may be configured to add a toe kick, such as Wilshire Planters in Steel.

Irrigation Systems

Tournesol’s container irrigation systems are the best in the business, and one of the values of working with Tournesol. Read more about Irrigation on Page 30.

Change in Dimension, Angled Length Modification

Don’t see the size you’re looking for? Many of our planters can be ordered with a change in one dimension as a standard option.

Accessory Pockets

Accommodate lighting, audio, power, and data. View our Fixture Compatibility Chart to use a Standard Accessory Pocket. Custom Accessory Pockets are available for fixtures not appearing on the compatibility chart.

Scoops

Square and rectangular planters can be connected endto-end to create linear runs. “Scoops” lower adjacent planter walls allowing them to hide beneath the soil surface, creating a continuous planting along the top.

Casters

Recessed casters discreetly provide mobility and are available for many of our planter collections. Planters receiving casters are built with reinforced raised bottoms, so that casters hide under skirted planter walls.

TourneSeal

Need it watertight? Specify TourneSeal, our waterproofing solution. This is highly recommended for planters that will not have drain holes.

Matching Saucer

Capture runoff from drain holes to prevent surface staining. Available in GFRC and FRP with matching finishes. Learn more about Saucers on Page 31.

False Bottom

Reduce soil volume and weight in planters by adding false bottoms. The false bottom option provides a soil depth of 18”. If other soil depths are needed, we can customize false bottoms to fit your project.

Drain Holes

Standard GFRC and Steel planters come with drain holes, but FRP planters come without. All our pots and planters are available with or without drainage holes, simply specify your choice.

Bottom Reinforcement

When specifying FRP planters that won’t have full basal support after installation, or planters that will be anchored to the underlying surface, bottom reinforcement is recommended.

Tie Downs

Tie Downs are available to hold trees in place. These are available for planters in all our materials. Ties are added inside planters at the midpoint. Ties are evenly distributed to keep tree centered.

Custom Color

Tournesol offers a broad range of standard colors for GFRC, FRP, and Powder-Coat, but we also offer custom colors depending on product and volume. Contact a Tournesol Advisor to discuss your custom color needs.

Custom Fabrication

At Tournesol, we have a dedicated team specializing in custom fabrication. Our project managers and engineers work in metal, wood, GFRC, and FRP, and can combine these materials to suit your vision.

When required, we can work with structural engineers to gain necessary approvals. Our experience allows us to confidently stand behind all our custom work. Our custom experience includes installations at airports, large-scale building developments, and major metropolitan parks. Bioretention Planters

Features

Fully engineered bioretention plumbing system, just add media and plants.

Available in standard sizes in GFRC or custombuilt to meet application requirements.

Two or more planters can be joined together to create longer bioretention planters.

Using scoops, the adjacent walls are lowered, hiding them beneath the water’s surface, allowing water to flow freely and creating a continuous planting along the top.

As a special order, bioretention planters can be ganged together to increase both width and length.

Bioretention Planters act as an on-structure or at-grade organic filter.

Slow the flow. Reduce peak discharge rates.

Stormwater enters from a drain lead and is collected in the planter. As the water flows through the planter, the vegetation, gravel, and bioretention media filters pollutants and heavy metals. The sealed planter allows temporary ponding of stormwater runoff before the water passes through to the discharge port back into the stormwater system.

Irrigation, Drainage & Root Barrier

Why Use Tournesol’s Self-Watering Irrigation?

They keep plants healthy, strong, and stress free by balancing moisture and oxygen in the soil.

They allow extended maintenance intervals.

Their closed system prevents possibility of water damage for interiors.

The overflow drainage adapter for exterior applications keeps excess rainwater from building up.

CWI & CWC Irrigation Inserts

Our inserts are self-watering systems designed to be used in cylindrical and tapered decorative pots. Tournesol’s proven vacuum-sensor watering system precisely controls moisture levels, watering the plant when the soil dries. The large reservoir allows for refill intervals up to four times longer than typical hand watering. This moisture control, when combined with subirrigation makes the most water-efficient irrigation systems.

CWM Modular Insert System

Our versatile modular system is designed for large planters. Reservoir modules are linked together and installed prior to filling with plants and media. The hand-filled reservoir utilizes Tournesol’s vacuum-sensor system to precisely monitor the soil moisture in the container, giving plants exactly the amount of water needed. The CWM Modular provides optimal flexibility for use in virtually any shape planter, will not interfere with lighting or other electrical connections, and requires no plumbing.

Tournesol's wide variety of decorative bollards and barriers includes both removable and permanent mountings. Removable bollards offer a visual deterrent and are easily removed for emergency or service access.

Weathering Steel

GFRC Lightweight Concrete

Our GFRC products are cast in our plant in Juarez, Mexico. GFRC is glass fiber reinforced concrete. It’s made by combining a mixture of fine sand, cement, polymer, water, other admixtures, and alkali-resistant glass fibers.

FRP Fiberglass

Our commercial-grade FRP planters are highly durable, last longer than plastic, and will endure in most winter climates. Our labor-intensive process results in a uniform, consistent quality product. Available in three textures; Smooth, Rough Stucco, and Orange Peel.

Recycled Plastic

Powder-Coated & Weathering Steel

In Port Orchard, WA, we manufacture products in mild steel, stainless steel, and weathering steel. We create our steel planters with stainless steel bases to extend planter life and reduce rust and staining of adjacent surfaces.
