The Ultimate Week of Gymnastics in the Palm Beaches is here with the USA Gymnastics Stars & Stripes Championships and the FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Cup

The ultimate week of gymnastics took place in The Palm Beaches with the USA Gymnastics 2023 Stars & Stripes Championships and the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) Trampoline & Tumbling World Cup. Both events took place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission partnered with USA Gymnastics in creating this extraordinary week of gymnastics, and illustrates why The Palm Beaches is considered one of Florida’s premier sports destinations.

The USA Gymnastics Stars & Stripes Championships occurred on July 28-30 while the FIG Trampoline & Tumbling World Cup immediately followed on August 3-5. The Palm Beach County Convention Center became the epicenter of gymnastics with nearly 900 gymnasts competing over both events. USA Gymnastics serves as the national governing body for its sport while the FIG represents the global authority for gymnastics and the oldest established international federation of an Olympic sport.

The Stars & Stripes Championships serves as the annual national championships for the USA Gymnastics Trampoline & Tumbling Development Program, Levels 5-7, as well as HUGS (special needs) athletes, for trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling. The Stars & Stripes Championships attracted nearly 700 gymnasts (ages ranging from 6 – 18) from across the nation. The Palm Beach County Convention Center was also home to this event during the summer of 2019.

The FIG World Cup brought a global attention to The Palm Beaches and served as the penultimate event in the five-competition 2023 World Cup Series, which include stops at Baku, Azerbaijan, Santarem, Portugal, Coimbra, Portugal, and Varna, Bulgaria. The Palm Beach County Convention Center was home to the top trampoline and tumbling gymnasts. A total of 250 gymnasts from 29 countries competed in the men’s and women’s individual and synchronized trampoline, tumbling and double mini divisions. The FIG World Cup also served the first Olympic Qualifier to take place in the United States for the 2024 Summer Olympics Games in Paris.

Winning the bid to host both the FIG World Cup and the Stars & Stripes Championships is a historic occasion for Palm Beach County and the state of Florida. Hosting a World Cup and national event contiguously, organized by gymnastics’ international governing body and national governing body, transformed The Palm Beaches into an unrivaled stage for the sport. Furthermore, both events l created a significant economic impact for Palm Beach County. Both events combined bring an economic impact of over $6 million and a hotel impact demand of more than 4,500 rooms.
