Taking Africa’s Art to the World

“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.”

Founded in November 2017, The Travelling Art Gallery is a collaborative initiative of African artists steered by two Cape Town based creative Germans, Barbara Lenhard and Florian Gast. Their collective ambition is to take African art to the world and invite the world to visit Africa.

And this they have done exceedingly well with 12 South African artists and 80 stunning artworks displayed at three pop-up exhibitions in three German cities for 10 days each in 2018.

Funding for the 2018 pop-up expos over 50 days was raised via two successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns in 2018. This year, 15 artists and over 100 artworks will be displayed in Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich from 13 June to 21 July 2019.
