A 12-mile walk from Florence Court takes you right to it - along the Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail to the Marble Arch Caves. The boardwalk is nicknamed the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and you’ll soon understand why!

High and low in the Mournes

The Causeway Coastal Route and the Glens of Antrim are wonderful territory for walkers of all abilities. Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne provides accessible walks, parking and a café, as does Roe Valley Country Park with its spectacular riverside views and woodland walks.

The scenery of Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark is truly breath-taking. There are three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to explore, including the spectacular Mourne Mountains. Among their foothills are gentler trails like the ones through Tollymore Forest Park or at the Woodland Trust’s Mourne Park. Strangford Lough and Ring of Gullion These are the two other Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Geopark. Delamont Country Park is a peaceful oasis on the shores of the Lough. Other trails, including Kiltonga Nature Reserve and Crawfordsburn Country Park, are equally good for families, with well-signposted routes. Slieve Gullion Forest Park and Adventure Playpark offer plenty of family-friendly walking trails. So does Northern Ireland’s only Marine Nature Reserve, with its teeming bird life and seal colonies. In and around Belfast Here you’ll find colourful parks and peaceful towpaths. The river paths of the Lagan Valley Regional Park and the panoramic views of the Belfast Hills also await exploration. There are routes made for fitter walkers and many more which are perfect for those with limited mobility or for small children. Exploring the Sperrin Mountains Stretching from Strabane in County Tyrone to the shores of Lough Neagh, the Sperrins are one of Northern Ireland’s largest upland areas – and one of its best kept secrets. Wild, untouched and exceptionally beautiful, they are also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you’re out and about with the family, enjoy a gentle walk through Gortin Glen Forest Park with its children’s playpark or An Creagán, where the visitor centre offers a family-friendly interpretation of the surrounding bogland. For serious walkers there are routes to the moorland summits such as Robbers Table and the Craignamaddy Circuit.

Like to be beside the seaside? Northern Ireland is made for beach-lovers too. Whether you’re rock-pooling, paddling with the kids or planning a spot of sunbathing, this is a great place to do it. Read on for more about Northern Ireland’s accessible and inclusive seaside options. Inclusive beaches in Northern Ireland An ‘Inclusive Beach’ is a beach environment where people of all ages and abilities can take part, have fun, and be included. In 2017, working in partnership with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Mae Murray Foundation created the first Inclusive Beach in Northern Ireland at Benone. Northern Ireland now has five Inclusive Beaches: Portrush (East Strand), Portstewart Strand, Benone Strand, Cranfield Beach and Groomsport Bay. At each of these, visitors can be confident that their arrival will be stress-free, that there will be appropriate parking or drop- off points, and that there will be connectivity between beach, eateries and dignified toileting facilities. Free beach equipment loan schemes, through which members of Mae Murray Foundation can borrow equipment such as all-terrain wheelchairs and mobility aids, are also in operation at these beaches.
