Hai Sing or “Star of the Sea” is the name given to Mary, Mother of God. Like Mary who guides all men and women through life’s trials and tribulations, the Star guides and protects the ship (our students). The Star shines brightly and illuminates for us the correct path to God.

Principal’s Message
Three years. Who would have thought our temporary stay would become such an unforgettable chapter of our school story?
As we close the door on our time at the temporary holding site, there’s so much to reflect on and be grateful for. These years have shown us that a school isn’t really about the building; it’s about the people who fill it with laughter, learning, and life.
The teamwork we’ve witnessed has been extraordinary. Students and staff all pulled together, making sure that no matter what challenges came our way, learning never stopped. We adapted, we innovated, and we discovered strengths we didn’t know we had.
This magazine captures it all: the creativity that flourished in unexpected spaces, the friendships that deepened through shared experiences, the achievements that felt even sweeter because of the journey it took to reach them. Every page tells the story of HAIsians who chose to thrive rather than merely survive.
Our hearts are full as we prepare for the next chapter—full of memories from these three remarkable years, full of gratitude for everyone who made this journey possible, and full of excitement for what lies ahead.
These pages hold more than just school memories. They hold proof of what we can accomplish when we face challenges together with determination and heart.

Our NCC unit takes pride on building teamwork, resilience, integrity, discipline and brotherhood. Annually, we take part in the NCC laser run competition, Camp Steel, Camp Forge, Senior Specialist leadership Course, SAR 21 rifle live range, AED & CPR certification,1-star kayaking certification, NCC Orienteering Competition, Combined Uniformed Group Camp, National Day Observance Parade, annual school camp and orienteering competitions These events allows the cadets to work together, grow together and bond as one. We stand true to the NCC motto “To serve with pride and dedication!”

Developing the HAI Leader
Sec 1 Orientation 2025
The Secondary One Orientation (S1O) in Hai Sing is our signature induction programme for Haisians, by Haisians. The 2025 S1O theme was Lighthouse, symbolising a journey of guidance and safe passage for our new students. The new “crew” participated in a wide array of activities alongside their new classmates: thoughtful reflection sessions, pirate-themed mass games and even a cohort-wide mass dance. Armed with an understanding of the school’s motto, values and beliefs, they were sent forth to embark on their new voyage of learning.
Student Reflections
After many weeks of planning, I was very satisfied with the results. Watching the new students familiarise themselves with the school throughout the orientation period made all the hard work pay off. It felt meaningful to see our juniors grow in confidence.

For me, Orientation is one of the highlights of the HAIsian student leadership journey. It is incredibly rewarding to see the Secondary 1 students come together under our guidance and planning. Student Leaders’ Investiture
The annual Student Leaders’ Investiture celebrates the spirit of servant leadership that guides how Haisians themselves play their part in making Hai Sing a shining Home, School and Community. This year, students were inspired by guest speaker Mdm Sujja (Class of 1986, former Head Prefect of Hai Sing Girls’ High), who shared her story of humility, perseverance and growth. As the outgoing 12th Student Council President Umaizah Zayani reflected, “Leadership isn’t about holding a title. Student Leadership Workshops
Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders
This year, our student leaders grew in confidence through a series of leadership workshops and experiences. After the Student Leaders Investiture, Class Chairpersons and HAI Befrienders attended preparatory workshops that equipped them with practical strategies for leading with empathy and responsibility.
In June, representatives from the Student Council, CCA Leaders, Catholic Fellowship Leaders, Class Chairpersons, and HAI Befrienders came together for the three-day SAiL Camp. Through team challenges and the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, they strengthened communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Our student leaders now return ready to guide, inspire, and serve their peers with heart.

For example, I learned that it is important to speak to the student soon after the incident, so they can reflect on their actions more effectively. Applied Learning Programme (ALP)
Our Applied Learning Programme (ALP) empowers students to use Design Thinking and STEM to tackle real-world challenges with creativity and purpose. Through hands-on projects, students connect classroom learning to meaningful, authentic applications while collaborating and innovating together.
Sec 1 students explored how technology shapes SMART cities. Sec 2 students built sustainable gliders and upcycled T-shirts to promote environmental awareness. A Sec 3 team also represented the school at VJC Project INSPiRE, designing a customized swimming pool to support active ageing.

The HAI Life
Back-to-School (BTS) Programme
The Secondary 1 Back to School Programme welcomed our new HAI-sians with an exciting start to their secondary school journey. The school’s signature programme helped students get familiar with school facilities, routines, and expectations through engaging, hands-on activities. More importantly, it created space for new friendships and a strong sense of belonging. This made the transition to the new school year smooth, supportive, and meaningful.
S1 and S3 Outdoor Adventure Learning Camp
Our Secondary 1 and 3 students took part in an exciting Outdoor Adventure Learning Camp, where they experienced life beyond the classroom through a live-in camp setting. Students worked together to pitch tents, cook outdoors, and take on high-element challenges that tested their courage and teamwork. Through these shared experiences, they learned to trust one another, communicate effectively, and step out of their comfort zones. The camp was a meaningful opportunity for students to build resilience, strengthen friendships, and grow in confidence.
Chinese New Year Celebration
Hai Sing Catholic School ushered in Chinese New Year with a vibrant celebration on 28 January 2025. The concert opened with student performances and a lively quiz, followed by a meaningful Mandarin orange presentation from student leaders to teachers. An exciting lion dance then filled the hall with festive energy. Back in classrooms, students enjoyed “yu sheng”, took part in a fun Kahoot! quiz, and watched themed videos. It was a joyful celebration that strengthened bonds and welcomed the new year with warmth and good cheer.
Uniformed Groups POP
In March, the school celebrated the Passing Out Parade for our graduating NPCC, NCC, and St. John Brigade cadets—a proud milestone marking the completion of their Uniformed Group journey. Over the years, they have shown discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment, strengthening their leadership and teamwork along the way. Hari Raya Puasa Celebration
Maundy Thursday
This year, our school commemorated Maundy Thursday with a meaningful and reflective celebration. Students came together to remember the spirit of service and love shown by Jesus through the symbolic washing of feet. In pairs, students took turns washing one another’s feet, expressing humility, kindness, and respect. This quiet yet powerful act reminded us that leadership begins with service, and that every small gesture of care can make a difference. It was a beautiful moment of unity, compassion, and community.

Overseas Learning Journey
In the last week of the June holidays, a group of 35 students and staff embarked on a journey through Jakarta and Bandung, deepening their understanding of Indonesia’s natural wonders, cultural heritage, and economic ties with Singapore.
From the breathtaking beauty of Kawah Putih’s crater lake, where they reflected on the role of natural resources in shaping industry and trade, to the peaceful grounds of Sekolah Regina Pacis, where HAIsians connected with the shared mission of the Franciscan sisters, every stop offered a chance to grow in knowledge, empathy, and global awareness.
But beyond the destinations, it was our HAIsians’ ability to adapt, collaborate, and engage in thoughtful discussion that truly shone. We are proud of their learning, and even prouder of who they are becoming – thoughtful youth who see themselves not just as Singaporeans, but as purposeful contributors to a wider world.
Sports Carnival
Our Sports Carnival was an unforgettable celebration of teamwork, energy, and school spirit. Students gave their all across the events, showing sportsmanship, determination, and plenty of cheers along the way. Beyond winning, the day was about showing up, giving your best, and lifting one another up.
HAI Star Awards and Foundress Day
We ended Semester 1 with our HAI Star Awards and Foundress Day Celebration, taking time to reflect on our shared journey. Inspired by the words of our Foundress, Blessed Mary of the Passion — “I will go wherever you send me” — we were reminded to move forward with courage, compassion, and unity. We celebrated students who demonstrated growth, effort, and service, and warmly welcomed alumni back to share in our pride.
Math Trail
On 28 May 2025, our Secondary 2 students took learning beyond the classroom with a Math Trail at Changi Airport Terminal 3. The trail allowed them to see how Math is applied in real-life contexts while appreciating Singapore’s role as a leading aviation hub. Students collected and analysed real-time data to solve problems, deepening their understanding of Math in action. It was a meaningful experience that helped them view the airport from a new perspective and recognise the relevance of Math in everyday life.

The Applied Learning Modules (ApLM) aimed to enhance students’ educational journey by linking academic concepts with practical, realworld contexts. Designed to promote experiential learning, the modules encouraged exploration beyond the textbook, fostering curiosity and lifelong learning. The entire Secondary 2 cohort participated in this initiative, ensuring every student had the opportunity to reflect on their strengths and also make informed choices about subject selection for the following year. As part of our Youth Day celebration last week, our students explored a range of positive coping strategies during assembly, CCE lessons, and even after school!
The highlight was the Well-being Carnival, which aimed to show students that everyone has strengths to cope with stress, whether it is through their beliefs, affect, social support, imagination, cognition, or physical activities (BASIC Ph).

Classes also watched Disney’s short film ‘Lava’ to explore meaningful narratives, followed by lively English games that encouraged teamwork and creativity. It was a joyful week that celebrated friendship, expression, and the power of language to unite us.

National Day Celebration
This year’s National Day celebration was extra special — Singapore turns 60! Themed “Majulah Singapura,” the celebration reminded us of our nation’s unbreakable spirit and the values that keep us strong — trust, inclusivity, and kindness. Our short and funny skit showed how these values have been passed down from the pioneer generation to today’s youth — proving that kindness never goes out of style!
The SG60 theme, “Building Our Singapore Together,” encouraged everyone to reflect on how our boldness, resilience, and multicultural spirit have helped us grow as one people. Students then took part in a lively quiz, testing their knowledge of Singapore’s milestones, before bursting into a sing-along of everyone’s favourite National Day tunes.
It was a day filled with laughter, pride, and unity — a joyful reminder that Singapore’s success story is written by all of us, together!

Fukuoka Kaisei Senior Girls’ High School Visit to HSC
In October, Hai Sing Catholic School warmly hosted students from Fukuoka Kaisei Senior Girls’ High School as part of our cultural exchange programme. Being FMM schools, both schools share many commonalities such as our school motto, hymn and values. Our student leaders and volunteers welcomed them with enthusiasm and introduced them to a variety of Singapore’s local delights, allowing them to experience our unique multicultural heritage. The Japanese students also had the opportunity to attend lessons and interact with our students, gaining a first-hand understanding of classroom learning in Singapore. Through this exchange, both groups forged meaningful friendships and developed a deeper appreciation for each other’s cultures, fostering global awareness and mutual understanding.

Sustainability Initiatives @ HSC
At HSC, sustainability comes alive through both classroom learning and real-world experiences. Students explore environmental responsibility through upcycling projects in Geography, sustainable energy investigations in Science, and learning journeys to places like Marina Bay and the Sustainable Singapore Gallery. They also take part in the EcoBoat Challenge, rainforest trails, and climate change sessions at Changi. These hands-on experiences help students connect concepts to real life, inspiring them to think critically, act responsibly, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
MT Fortnight Programme
The Mother Tongue Languages (MTL) Department organised a series of engaging activities to give students authentic opportunities to use their Mother Tongue and appreciate their cultural heritage. Sec 1 students took part in a Chinese Storytelling Workshop, Sec 2 students enjoyed a Chinese Tea Appreciation Learning Journey, and Sec 3 students explored Chinese pop music in a lively workshop. Malay students across all levels also learnt the rhythms of Kompang. These meaningful experiences strengthened cultural identity and celebrated Singapore’s vibrant multicultural spirit.

Through this student-led experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for cultures beyond my own and learned the importance of being open-minded in our multicultural society. The MTL Cultural Programme invited our Secondary 1 students to appreciate Singapore’s rich cultural diversity through hands-on, experiential learning. Designed as a station-based game, the programme introduced students to Chinese, Malay, and Indian traditions in a fun and interactive way. They tried activities such as Kolam design, Henna art, Diabolo, and Gasing, alongside student-led games and classroom tasks. Through exploring each station and reflecting on their experiences, students developed cultural awareness, respect for others, and pride in our multicultural identity.
Beyond School Experiences
The year-end Beyond School Experience offered students a vibrant mix of activities that deepened cultural understanding and strengthened class spirit. Students immersed themselves in traditional games and art forms that celebrated Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage. They were also introduced to cyanotype printing, a new artistic technique, creating meaningful group artworks for a mural at the Prime site. The programme emphasised creativity, collaboration, and confidence, culminating in a joyful Homecoming Day celebration that united students in pride and belonging.

Catholic Education Sunday
On 24 August 2025, Hai Sing Catholic School joyfully celebrated Catholic Education Sunday (CES) at the Church of Divine Mercy. CES is a special occasion where the Catholic Church gives thanks to God and prays for Catholic schools, teachers, students, and families during Mass. We are reminded that Catholic education is not only about knowledge, but also about
character formation and the nurturing of values.
Our students and staff were privileged to serve in the various ministries – as Choir members, Hospitality ushers, Lectors, and Altar Servers – and to host a booth at the church foyer to share more about Hai Sing Catholic with the parish community.
Visit to the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd
The Jubilee Year of Hope is a special year in the Catholic Church dedicated to renewal, reflection, and gratitude, and invites Catholics to pause and recognise how God’s love and mercy continue to work in the world, even in challenging times.
As part of the Jubilee Year celebrations, students from Catholic Fellowship (CF) visited the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd to deepen their understanding of the Church’s rich heritage. During the visit, the CF students were guided on a tour of the cathedral, where they admired its beautiful architecture and learnt about its historical and spiritual significance as the mother church of the Archdiocese. They also explored the Heritage Room, which showcased artefacts, photographs, and stories that told of the Church’s journey through the years. The experience was both educational and faith-enriching, helping students appreciate their shared Catholic identity and the legacy of those who built and nurtured the faith community in Singapore.
After the visit to the Cathedral, the CF leaders also designed stickers of hope and shared them with their school mates and teachers!

The visit to the Cathedral was a humbling yet exciting journey as we took a bus all the way from the East to the Centre of Singapore. On the way there, we prayed the rosary which helped to set the reflective mood for the trip. When we arrived there, I was amazed to learn about the history of the church. Find the Goli Challenge
In August, the Humanities Department launched its first-ever #findtheGOLI Scavenger Hunt, sending students on a thrilling school-wide quest to locate the Golden Marble. Guided by digital photo clues, teams worked together to think critically, problem-solve, and make connections to key Humanities concepts. The activity also encouraged students to reflect on national identity and global awareness in a fun and authentic way. Through the hunt, students discovered that Humanities is not just about the past—it shapes how we understand and influence the world today.

My friends and I tackled questions spanning different humanities subjects, each answer bringing us closer to the golden marble. For example, when we encountered the riddle ‘Spring of life comes to me. Life I give to you who draws from me. What am I?’ We discussed the historical significance of water sources in Singapore and identified Ann Siang Hill Water Well. This showed us how history comes alive when we actively interpret clues rather than just memorising facts.

Holidays are great for exploration and discovery! During the September and year-end breaks, HAIsians signed up for Work Exposure trips. They visited various industries, observed different types of work, and spoke to staff about their education pathways. We are grateful to our partners IKEA Tampines, Mansa Computers, Heartland by Enjoy, and SCOGA for showing Haisians a glimpse into the World of Work.

HSC Homecoming
On the last day of school, our Secondary 1–3 students bade farewell to the school building they have called home for the past three years. With grateful hearts and excited smiles, they embarked on a symbolic walk back to our newly revamped campus at 9 Pasir Ris Drive 6 — where their Haisian journey will continue in 2026.
We were honoured to be joined by our ex-Principal Mr Daniel Ang and Sister Maria, whose vision and dedication shaped our renewed learning spaces. In recognition of her enduring contributions, the school proudly presented Sister Maria with the MOE Service to Education (Gold) Award.

Graduation Ceremony
We celebrated the graduation of our Secondary 4 and 5 students on 20 November 2025 at the Temasek Convention Centre. It was a proud and heartfelt occasion as we honoured our graduates’ resilience, growth, and achievements over the years. Parents, teachers, and friends gathered to celebrate their journey, cheering them on as they stepped confidently into the next chapter of their lives. The ceremony was a meaningful milestone, filled with gratitude, joy, and the enduring One HAI SING spirit.
