SUPERIOR CHILI & BEER FEST!

Saturday, September 9, 2–6 p.m.

Community Park

The Town of Superior and Boulder Valley Rotary Club are serving up the tastiest event of the year. Come out and sample delicious, local chili and frosty libations while experiencing an epic, family-friendly festival packed with great entertainment. Proceeds benefit Boulder Valley Rotary Club in support of local, regional and international nonprofits.

General entry is FREE and the Chili Cook-off is HOT! Grab a free commemorative chili mug while supplies last and sample an array of chili variations whipped up by local and regional cooks.

This weekend of celebration will offer something for everyone – naughty or nice: live music and dance performances; Santa and his real reindeer; cookie decorating; engaging and colorful roaming holiday characters; interactive activities; opportunities to shop for gifts from artist; crafters and vendors; hands-on stations to make your own crafts; hot cocoa and cookies; and snow much more! SUPERIOR PLEIN AIR PAINTING FESTIVAL

Saturday, September 23, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Purple Park

Painting in Purple Park is back! The CAPS committee is proud to host the 2023 Plein Air Painting Festival on Saturday, September 23rd, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Purple Park, located at 1310 S. Pitkin Avenue. During the event you can stroll the park to watch over a dozen artists create their masterpieces, make your own art at the activity stations, get your face painted, enjoy the live music and grab a tasty bite from a food truck! Be sure to join is for this fantastic artsy Fall-Winter event!

Aura is a series of oil paintings that focus on spiritual devotion and impressions of growing up in a colorful country of rich diversity and emotionality. Superior artist Nikita Kataria enjoys painting with oil on canvas to create abstract and modern illustrations of the impressions and thoughts she has from growing up in India.

Della Remack, Ed.D. has served learners of all ages through public education, the nonprofit world, and the private sector. Della serves Boulder Valley School District half-time as a Gifted Education Instructional Specialist as she launches her startup, SensAble Learning, LLC. SOUNS® AND RHYMES

Souns® and Rhymes is a family literacy class. Children ages 0-3 use multiple senses to experience letter sounds and nursery rhymes. This class is interactive, engaging and hands-on, blending Montessori-minded practice with nursery rhymes. The registration fee is per family. (If there is more than one child 0-3, it is one fee.)

This is a class for all ages, kids and adults! Each week, you will pay attention to a natural wonder in your surroundings. Then, you will record your thoughts, inspirations, pictures, poems, paintings, etc. in your creative journal. Together, we will begin to see the world as artists do. Grab a friend, yourself, and/or a member of your family and enroll today!

STOP-MOTION ANIMATION

I learned about stop-motion animation from some of the best! Now, I will share what I learned with you. Learners will discover the magic of stop motion animation and create a few videos to showcase. Materials for animating will be provided. Learners will need to bring a tablet or phone capable of downloading the Stop Motion Studio App. This workshop is open to learners 7 to 11 year of age.

Snapology Camps

At Snapology we believe that children are meant to learn through play. When children are engaged in interactive, hands-on learning activities, their creativity flourishes and they show an increased interest in school. We help your child grow up with a thirst for knowledge. How do we do it? Snapology engages children ages 5-12 using LEGO® bricks, K’Nex and technology. While the kids are having fun with familiar toys, laptops and iPads, we sneak in the learning. Shh, don’t tell them it’s educational!

THANKSGIVING a.m.: MINIFIGURE MANIA + FESTIVE MAKE-AND-TAKE

In Snapology’s Minifigure Mania camp, we will let your builder play with our secret stash of minifigures! Not only that, but we will really put our minifigures to the test by creating special playgrounds for them, design unique flying tests, and see how well they do on our carefully engineered structures! Join us as we shrink ourselves to mini-figure size and explore the world of minifigures! We’ll end by giving thanks and taking home festive builds to show families.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

HEARTSAVER CPR AED

Age: 11+ | Community Center

The American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course provides the highest quality training in the lifesaving skills of CPR and how to use an AED. The course empowers students to act with confidence in the event of an emergency at work, home, or in the community. Heartsaver CPR AED is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs CPR AED training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. This course can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act in an emergency.

COLLEGE PREPARATION CATALYST PROGRAM

This class will provide personalized guidance, helping students explore their passions, highlight their achievements, and present their unique narratives effectively. Students will gain valuable insights into the expectations of admissions officers, learn strategies for showcasing their strengths, and develop the skills needed to create compelling applications. Drop In fee: $25 per class.

FAA GROUND SCHOOL

All Ages | Community Center

In order for one to receive their private pilot's license, an applicant will need to pass the FAA Ground Test Examination. This comprehensive class covers everything you will need to pass your exam. FAA rules and regulations are covered. There will be in-class demonstrations and the occasional outside speaker from the industry. Self-study is encouraged and could help to graduate early. Brad Walker is a certificated pilot who has spent 31.25 days off this planet in a plane. He is an FAA Certified Ground Instructor.

SUSTAINABLY LIVING THROUGH THE 3R’S & C: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLING & COMPOSTING

Age: 15+ | Community Center

Learn how to properly recycle and compost according to Boulder County guidelines. Reduce your carbon footprint with zero waste practices and swap-outs that you may wish to adopt in your daily life. Understand how this helps reduce the impacts on climate, our environment, our health and our wallets.

Classes will be taught by Michelle Gazarik, Eco-Cycle EcoLeader and Member Volunteer, Town of Superior Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability (ACES).

This informative seminar will provide detailed information on how to enroll in Medicare, how the Medicare Program works, what are the components of Medicare, maintaining your Medicare coverage, and details about Medicare. This seminar will provide valuable information on Boulder County's Community Protection Division and how to get help if needed, how to be safe on the Internet, phone, and social media, how to keep your ATM card safe, and how to protect yourself from fraud, scams and theft. Pre-k students of Superior will have the opportunity to learn tumbling skills on a 33’ inflatable tumble track. With hands- on spotting and specialized instruction, our expert teachers provide a structured, fun and physically challenging class for each student. Students will learn to do a number of skills including handstands, dive rolls, backbends, cartwheels and much more. Dress Code: Fitted athletic wear, appropriate for going upside down. This is true for a lot of wildlife in Superior as certain species get ready to enter hibernation. The question is: are they true hibernators? This 45-minute interactive talk discusses who is who in the hibernating world. The program is free, but registration is required.

Tree Climbing

Your childhood is calling. Why choose a view from under trees when you can go up them? Learn climbing techniques and hardware developed from tree works, cavers, and rock climbers that allow tree canopy scientists to conduct studies. The only difference? We are doing it just for fun! DOG DAZE AT SUPERIOR SOUTH POOL

It’s a day for your dogs. Bring your furry friends up to South Pool for a day of excitement just for dogs. Dogs can jump and play in the summer heat, while cooling off in the pool. Dogs only allowed in the pool today, no humans please.

Athletic Field Reservations

The Town of Superior has many athletic fields suitable for seasonal, occasional and tournament play. All Town of Superior athletic fields are open to the public for use on a first-come, first-served basis. To obtain exclusive use of a field, complete and submit a Sports Complex Permit Application to tospros@superiorcolorado.gov Applications can be found online at superiorrec.com. Field reservations must be paid for prior to use.

• Williams Turf and the West multi-purpose field are available to rent year-round.

• Baseball fields are available to rent from AprilNovember and are closed for field preservation from December-March.

• Superior Commons Athletic Field is available to rent from April-October. The field is closed November-March for field preservation.

Park/Pavilion Reservations

Come and enjoy the outdoors at one of Superior’s beautiful parks.

• Park/Pavilion reservations are available to reserve online from May-October reservation dates. Park facilities may be used on a first come, first served basis from November-April.

Park/pavilion reservations may be made online beginning April 1 each year at superiorrec.com.
