INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
v

What is ICT?

ICT mean Information and communication technology.

Information – Content, Details, and MSG

Communication – Transmit data to one place to another place ( Sender to Receiver)

Technology – Do Communication using Device or any technical tools –Mobile, Laptop, Radio, TV (Social Media Platforms, TV Channels, Radio frequency for Calling, Radio, walky-talky.)

ICT accessing, storing, retrieving and transmitting the information.

Role

• Personal Life

of ICT
• Professional Life ICT Tools –Maintenance of Records E-commerce Handling of Accounts E-Banking Computer Radio and Television Internet and Emails Smartphones and Tablets

Components of ICT

Data – It is an individual unit that contains raw material given as input. Procedures – These are methods to pass data and information to people involved in ICT.

Information - Processed Data

People – People involved to give input and take input from machine.

Software - These are program and application used in ICT system.

Hardware - All Physical components of the ICT system which we can touch and feel.

What is computer?

Computer is an electronic Device which used to solve complex Problems. Computer take input from user and processed it and give Output.

There are two major components:-

• Hardware - All the physical part of computer – HDD, SSD, Screen, Keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.

• Software

A set of instruction that we give to a computer to get the work done is called software.

Software can be categorised in two type :System Software :- Software that is required to control the functions of a computer is called system software.

Ex – Operating System (Windows, Linux, Mint Os, Android etc)

Application Software :- Software that is designed for a user and is made to do a specific kind of work is called application software. –Photoshop, Coral, Ms Word, whatsapp, etc.

Basic Operations of a Computer

There are 4 operations in to perform any task – Input, Process, Output, Storage.

Input Process Output Storage

• Input – Instructions given by user in the form of RAW data.

• Process – When the system get input form user then start to processing on given data.

• Output – When system generate a result and user get is exactly according to the given instructions is know as Output. Like Calculator = 3 (Input) + (Input) 3 (Input) = 6 (Output)

• Storage – To store the values and holds the things. Like to store song, videos, picture, data in any form.

IPO Cycle (Input-process-output cycle)

CHARACTERSTICS OF A COMPUTER

CHARACTERSTICS

SPEED - Extremly fast to give results.

ACCURACY - Accurate result according to your input

RELIABILITY- Highly reliable

STORAGE - Lagre volume of date you can store based on your drive size.

VERSATILE - Computer is used for multiple works and computer dosen't mean that would be a laptop, smartphone, etc.

Input Device –

• Keyboard

• Mouse

• Scanner

• Light pen

• Touch Screen

• Micro Phone

• Barcode reader

• MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition)

DATA PROCESS INFORMATION STORAGE

Output Device –

• Monitor

• Printer

• Inkjet printer

• Laser printer

• Plotter

• Speakers

• Projector, etc.

Processing Device – Central Processing Unit (CPU)

It is a Brain of Computer and CPU is responsible to do all Processes on every input.

CPU is basically divided into three parts :-

ALU – Arithmetical Logical Unit is responsible for arithmetical and logical calculations.

CU - Control Unit which control overall computer system - Control the flow of information, instructions from input device to the processing unit and then to the output device.

Fig. CPU Chip (Core)

MU – Memory Unit it is storage unit which holds the processed or unprocessed data.

Computer Memory

Computer memory holds raw data before it goes for processing and after processing it contains information which can either be sent to output device or stored in secondary devices for future use.

Here internal is like primary memory” and external like “secondary memory”.

Measuring Unit “Do it Your Self”

Peripheral Device Port – To connect or attach anything like computer accessories with computer system.

Serial Port Parallel Port USB Port Ethernet Port

HDMI Port

Motherboard

Motherboard is a mainboard of computer is consists all the circuits all the important components of the computer.

Understanding Operating System

Operating system is a system software which acts as an interface between the user and the computer.
