Welcome to Our 2026–2027 Season Welcome to a brand-new season with the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation. As we look ahead, we do so with deep gratitude for our remarkable 30+ year legacy and for the vibrant future we continue to build together. For more than three decades, TOCA has been a cornerstone of creativity and connection in the South Bay, and that legacy lives on through the artists, audiences, donors, volunteers, and community partners who make this work possible. This season reflects what we believe at our core: that the performing arts have the power to bring people together, spark meaningful conversations, and create lasting memories. Each performance has been thoughtfully selected to inspire, entertain, and connect, offering moments of joy, reflection, and discovery for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. At TOCA, the arts are for everyone. Whether you are joining us for the first time or have been part of our journey for years, we invite you to explore this season and find the experiences that speak to you. From music and theatre to comedy, cultural programming, and family-friendly performances, there is truly something for all. We are continually inspired by the artists we present and the community we serve. Your support, whether through attending performances, donating, volunteering, or simply sharing in these experiences ensures that the arts continue to thrive in Torrance and throughout the South Bay. Thank you for being part of TOCA. We look forward to sharing an unforgettable season with you. As always, if there’s anything we can do to make your experience better, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@ torrancearts.org. See you at the theatre,

Now in its 45th year, the Langley Ukulele Ensemble stands as one of Canada’s most respected youth music organizations. Founded and directed for 32 years by Peter Luongo, the ensemble has, for the past 13 years, been led by his son, Paul Luongo, continuing a remarkable legacy of musical excellence, innovation, and youth leadership. Ensemble members range in age from 13 to 19 and represent middle, secondary, and post-secondary schools throughout their community. The Senior A Ukulele Ensemble is the organization’s premier performing group, presenting as many as 60 performances annually. Renowned for their artistry and professionalism, the ensemble is celebrated for a dynamic and stylistically diverse repertoire that highlights the ukulele as a serious and expressive concert instrument. Their programs feature original and contemporary arrangements spanning classical and orchestral transcriptions, jazz

and swing, traditional and global folk music, popular standards, and modern works, often blending multiple ukulele voices with bass, percussion, and vocals to create a rich and engaging ensemble sound. This versatility has made the group highly sought after for festivals, concert stages, and cultural events across British Columbia, Canada, the United States, England, Japan, and Hawaii, while they remain deeply committed to community performances throughout the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver region. The ensemble has shared the stage with numerous Juno, Nā Hōkū Hanohano, and Grammy-nominated or Grammy-winning artists. Among the most notable highlights was opening for Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin at the NAMM Grand Rally for Music Education. Their extensive performance history also includes appearances at the Pacific National Exhibition, Winter Olympic

events in Vancouver, the Reno, Hawaii, and Los Angeles Ukulele Festivals; the Okanagan and Royal Nova Scotia Military Tattoos; the BC Legislature and Royal BC Museum; the Mayor’s Gala of the Township of Langley; and major fundraising galas for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. A cornerstone of their international presence is the ensemble’s longstanding connection to Hawaii. Following a celebratory return to Honolulu in 2023 and their 28th annual residency at the Sheraton Waikiki in 2025, the group continues a tradition of excellence, cultural exchange, and global collaboration spanning nearly three decades. The 2026 season marked a historic milestone in the ensemble’s history with its first-ever European tour and highly successful debut in London, England. In August 2026, the Senior A Ensemble was honoured to headline the prestigious Ukulele Festival of Great Britain, earning enthusiastic audience acclaim and further establishing its reputation as one of the world’s leading youth ukulele ensembles. This landmark invitation reflected the ensemble’s exceptional musicianship, innovative programming, and growing international reputation.

Building on the momentum of their successful British tour, the ensemble continues an exciting season of performances and international appearances. Later this summer, the group will be featured performers at the Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival and will present a special concert at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in Southern California. They will conclude September as featured artists at the 2nd Annual Fort Langley International Ukulele Festival, sharing their music with audiences from across British Columbia and beyond. Guided by the motto “Enriching Lives through Music,” the Langley Ukulele Ensemble is committed to developing musicians who lead with integrity, creativity, and purpose. Members are encouraged to pursue the highest standards of musical excellence while serving as ambassadors for Canada, British Columbia, and the City of Langley. Above all, the ensemble strives to inspire joy, connection, and optimism, leaving audiences with a lasting sense of the promise and potential of today’s youth. Special thanks to Kala Ukulele for their support of the Langley Ensemble
