ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆԷՍ ԱՌԱՔ. ԸՆԴՀԱՆՐԱԿԱՆ 1-ԻՆ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 1:1-10 Կեանքի Խօսքին մասին - որ սկիզբէն էր, որ մենք լսեցինք, որ մեր աչքերով տեսանք, որ դիտեցինք ու մեր ձեռքերը շօշափեցին. (արդարեւ կեանքը յայտնուեցաւ, մենք տեսանք զայն, եւ կը վկայենք ու կը պատմենք ձեզի այդ յաւիտենական կեանքին մասին, որ Հօրը քով էր եւ յայտնուեցաւ մեզի.) - ինչ որ տեսանք ու լսեցինք՝ կը պատմենք ձեզի, որպէսզի դո՛ւք ալ հաղորդութիւն ունենաք մեզի հետ: Մեր հաղորդութիւնը Հօրը հետ է, եւ իր Որդիին՝ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի հետ: Կը գրենք ձեզի այս բաները, որպէսզի ձեր ուրախութիւնը լման ըլլայ: Եւ սա՛ է այն պատգամը՝ որ լսեցինք իրմէ ու կը հաղորդենք ձեզի, թէ Աստուած լոյս է, եւ անոր մէջ բնաւ խաւար չկայ: Եթէ ըսենք. «Մենք հաղորդութիւն ունինք անոր հետ», սակայն խաւարի մէջ ընթանանք, կը ստենք ու չենք կիրարկեր ճշմարտութիւնը: Իսկ եթէ լոյսի մէջ ընթանանք, ինչպէս ան լոյսի մէջ է, հաղորդութիւն կ՚ունենանք իրարու հետ, եւ անոր Որդիին՝ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի արիւնը կը մաքրէ մեզ ամէն մեղքէ: Եթէ ըսենք. «Մենք մեղք մը չունինք», կը խաբենք մենք մեզ, ու ճշմարտութիւն չկայ մեր մէջ: Իսկ եթէ խոստովանինք մեր մեղքերը, ան հաւատարիմ եւ արդար է՝ ներելու մեր մեղքերը, ու մաքրելու մեզ ամէն անիրաւութենէ: Եթէ ըսենք. «Մենք մեղանչած չենք», ստախօս կը նկատենք՝՝ զայն, եւ անոր խօսքը մեր մէջ չէ: ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆՈՒ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 7:14-23 Իսկ երբ տօնը կէս եղաւ՝ Յիսուս բարձրացաւ տաճարը, եւ կը սորվեցնէր: Հրեաները կը զարմանային ու կ՚ըսէին. «Ի՞նչպէս 3

ասիկա գիտէ Գիրքերը, քանի բնա՛ւ սորված չէ զանոնք»: Յիսուս պատասխանեց անոնց. «Իմ ուսուցումս՝ ի՛մս չէ, հապա զիս ղրկողի՛նն է: Եթէ մէկը ուզէ գործադրել անոր կամքը, պիտի գիտնայ թէ այս ուսուցումը Աստուծմէ՛ է, թէ ես ինձմէ կը խօսիմ: Ա՛ն որ կը խօսի ինքնիրմէ՝ կը փնտռէ ի՛ր իսկ փառքը, բայց ա՛ն որ կը փնտռէ զինք ղրկողին փառքը՝ անիկա՛ ճշմարտախօս է, եւ անոր քով անիրաւութիւն չկայ: Մովսէս չտուա՞ւ ձեզի Օրէնքը. բայց ձեզմէ ո՛չ մէկը կը գործադրէ Օրէնքը: Ինչո՞ւ կը ջանաք սպաննել զիս»: Բազմութիւնը պատասխանեց. «Դե՛ւ կայ քու ներսդ. ո՞վ կը ջանայ սպաննել քեզ»: Յիսուս պատասխանեց անոնց. «Գործ մը ըրի, եւ բոլորդ ալ կը զարմանաք: Մովսէս տուաւ ձեզի թլփատութիւնը, (որ ո՛չ թէ Մովսէսէ էր՝ հապա նախնիքներէն,) ու մարդ կը թլփատէք Շաբաթ օրը: Եթէ մարդ կը թլփատուի Շաբաթ օրը՝ որպէսզի Մովսէսի Օրէնքը չլուծուի, կը դառնանա՞ք ինծի դէմ՝ որ ամբողջ մարդ մը բժշկեցի Շաբաթ օրը: 1 JOHN 1:1-10 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our a joy complete.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not 4

live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all b sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

JOHN 7:14-23 Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”

“You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?”

Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed. Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?

ԱՅՍ ԿԻՐԱԿԻ - THIS SUNDAY ԵՐԵՒՈՒՄՆ Ս. ԽԱՉԻ Ս. Յարութեան տօնին յաջորդող հինգերորդ կիրակի օրը, մեր հայրապետներու տնօրինութեան համաձայն Հայաստանեայց Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցին կը յիշատակէ Սուրբ Խաչի երևման տօնը, որը Երուսաղէմի մէջ Ս. Խաչի նշանի երեւման յիշատակութիւնն է: Այս օրը հաւատացեալները մէկ անգամ եւս կը յիշեն Տիրոջ չարչարանքները, անոր խաչելութիւնը, և խաչի վրայ անոր թափած անմեղ արեան շնորհիւ մարդկային ցեղի փրկութիւնը: Այս տօնը պատմական դէպքի մը յիշատակութիւնն է: 351 թ. ցերեկուայ ընթացքին, երկընքի վրայ կ’երեւի լուսաւոր Խաչ մը՝ տարածուելով Գողգոթայէն մինչև Ձիթենեաց լեռը: Այս առիթով Երուսաղէմի Կիւրեղ եպիսկոպոսը նամակ կը գրէ Կ. Պոլսոյ Կոստանդին կայսեր՝ այդ զարմանալի երեւոյթը համարելով ուղղափառ դաւանութեան ճշմարիտ ըլլալուն ապացոյցը եւ կը յորդորէ անոր հրաժարիլ արիոսականները պաշտպանելէ: Այս դէպքին ականատես կ’ըլլան ոչ միայն Երուսաղէմի մէջ բնակող քրիստոնեաները, այլև տարբեր դաւանանքներու ու կրօններու պատկանող մարդիկ: Երկնային հրաշքի շնորհիւ շատեր կը հաւատան Յիսուսին, կը մկրտուին սուրբ Կիւրեղի ձեռքով՝ անդամագրուելով Քրիստոսի Եկեղեցւոյ: 6

Երուսաղէմի Կիւրեղ եպիսկոպոսի այդ նամակը թարգմանուած է հայերէնի եւ ամէն տարի կ'ընթերցուի Ս. Խաչի երեւման տօնին: Ս. Յարութեան տօնի շարժականութեան պատճառաւ Ս. Խաչի Երեւման տօնը կրնայ հանդիպիլ Ապրիլ 19-էն մինչեւ Մայիս 23-ը:

APPARITION OF THE CROSS This Sunday, May 2, the Armenian Church commemorates the Feast of the Apparition of the Cross (Yerevoumun Sourp Khatchi). The Apparition of the Holy Cross is the first feast dedicated to the Holy Cross in the Armenian liturgical calendar.

This feast is celebrated in remembrance of the appearance of the sign of the cross over the city of Jerusalem in 351 that remained in the sky for several hours. The apparition extended from Golgotha to the Mount of Olives (about two miles), and was seen by everyone in Jerusalem. The Patriarch of Jerusalem, C yril wrote a letter to Emperor Constantine of Byzantium wherein he describes the miraculous and beautiful scene and used this occasion to remind Emperor of his father’s (Constantine the Great) orthodox faith. Cyril said the Apparition was a further reason to return to orthodoxy and to stop defending the heretical movement of Aryanism.

Traditionally, the Armenian translation of Cyril’s message is read on this feast day during the Antasdan prior to the Gospel lection. This event is celebrated by the Armenian and Greek churches. The Greeks observe it on the fixed date of May 7, while the Armenian date is moveable depending on the date of Easter and nay fall from April 19May 23. It is celebrated 28 days after the Easter Sunday.

Տէր Հայրը յատուկ գնահատեց եւ շնորհակալութիւն յայտնեց, Տիկին Անի Սարվարեանին եւ Տիկին Արմինէ Պոյաճեանին, իրենց տարած աննախընթաց աշխատանքին համար: Ժողովականները գոհունակութեամբ ունկնդրեցին Հոգեւոր

Հովիւի տեղեկատուութիւնը, բարձր գնահատելով Տէր Հօր տարած անձնանուէր եւ ծանր աշխատանքը եւ եկեղեցւոյ ու հաւատացեալներու նկատմամբ հայրական աննախադէպ հոգածութիւնը: Թեմական Պատգամաւորական ժողովի շրջանաւարտ պատգամաւորներ՝ Տիար Ժան Սադուրիին եւ Տիար Ստեփան Էքմէքճանին փոխարինեցին, Տիկին Ռոզին Իմաստունեանն ու Տիար Պետրոս Չինչինեանը: Ժողովը անդրադարձաւ նաեւ եկեղեցւոյ կից 930 Progress Ave. կալուածի ներկայ իրավիճակին եւ քննարկեց անոր կապուած ապագայ ծրագրերը: Ապա, Տիկին Արմինէ Պոյաճեան հակիրճ ներկայացուց Սբ. Երրորդութիւն Հայց. Առաք. Եկեղեցւոյ 2021 թուականի նախահաշիւը: Ժողովը աւարտեցաւ Սրբազան Հօր գնահատական եւ օրհնութեան հայրական խօսքով եւ «Պահպանիչ»ով: 11

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ASSEMBLY OF HOLY TRINITY ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH The Annual Membership Assembly of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church of Toronto took place on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

Because of the social conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting was held via zoom and was only informative.

The Assembly was presided over by the Primate of the Armenian Diocese, His Grace Bishop Apgar Hovagimian. Mr. Stepan Ekmekjian chaired the meeting. Also present were the vicar and Pastor of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church Rev. Achpriest Zareh Zargarian; Pastor's Assistant Rev. Fr. Hayari Tanashian; Diocesan Council Chair Mr.

Ohan Ohannessian; Parish Council Chair Mrs. Rosine Imasdounian; Barev Centre Chair Mrs. Armine Boyajian, and Executive Secretary of the church, Mrs. Ani Sarvarian.

During the opening prayer, Rev. Achpriest Zareh Zargarian called upon the present members to remember the fallen heroes and compatriots in the Artsakh war, as well as the departed members of our church, 12

especially Mr. Ara Boyajian, Mr. Barkev Khojajian, Mr. Jirayr Pederian, Dc. Berj Luleciyan and Mr. Harutyun Yessayan, praying that the Almighty grant peace to their souls and comfort to their loved ones.

To conclude, Rev. Achpriest Zareh Zargarian welcomed all who were present and wished them success.

Chair of the Diocesan Council, Mr. Ohan Ohannessian, expressed his appreciation of a work well done and wished success to the meeting. The annual reports of the Parish Council, Barev Centre and the Parish priest were presented.

Rev. Achpriest Zareh Zargarian, reading his report, thanked the outgoing Chair of the Parish Council, Mrs. Rosine Imasdounian, for her dedicated service to the church. He thanked the rest of the members: Mr. Vartan Kasbarian, Mr. Vartan Garabedian, Mr. Raffi Kouyoumdjian, Mr. Ohanes Der ohanessian (who will continue for the next term), Mrs. Jaklyn Esagolian (who will continue for the next term), Mr. Zadik Gorgisian, Mr. Zohrab Tutunjian, Mrs. Talin Tajirian and Miss Arin Kemkemian, appreciating their dedication and service for the betterment of the church and its mission. He also passed on his best wishes to the newly appointed members of the Parish Council, Mr. Raffi Bedrosyan, Mr. Jivan Babaoglu, Miss Yvette Panossian, Mrs. Rosa Vartouhi Avanessyan, Miss Arine Kasabian and Miss Alis Sarkissian.

Father Zargarian highly appreciated the dedicated work of Mrs. Ani Sarvarian and Mrs. Armine Boyajian.

The attendees highly appreciated the undivided dedication of Rev. Fr. Zargarian for the well being of the church, as well as his fatherly care extended to the members of the parish.

Mrs. Rosine Imasdounian and Mr. Bedros Chinchinian will be replacing Mr. John Satouri and Mr. Stepan Ekmekjian as delegates to the Diocesan Assembly.

The attendees discussed the current condition and future plans for the estate at 930 Progress Avenue, adjacent to the church.

Mrs. Armine Boyajian presented a brief financial statement of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church for the 2021 year.

The Annual Assemly came to an end with the Primate's words of appreciation and closing prayer.

To take home one of these beautiful prayer boxes, we ask for a minimum $20 per box donation, proceeds of which will be allocated to the operating expenses of the Holy Trinity Armenian Church.

A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for amounts donated in excess of $20 per box.
