ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔ. ԿՈՐՆԹԱՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ ԳՐԱԾ 2-ՐԴ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 6.167.1 Եւ ի՞նչ համաձայնութիւն ունի Աստուծոյ տաճարը կուռքերուն հետ, որովհետեւ դուք ապրող Աստուծոյ տաճարն էք՝ ինչպէս Աստւած ըսաւ. «Անոնց մէջ պիտի բնակիմ եւ անոնց մէջ պիտի շրջիմ. եւ անոր ողորմութիւնը իրմէ վախցողներուն վրայ է՝ սերունդէ սերունդ: Իր բազուկով զօրութիւն ցոյց տուաւ, ցրուեց ամբարտաւանները իրենց սիրտին երեւակայութեամբ: Զօրաւորները իջեցուց իրենց գահերէն, ու բարձրացուց նուաստները: Անօթիները լիացուց բարիքներով, եւ պարապ ճամբեց հարուստները: Օգնութեան հասաւ իր Իսրայէլ ծառային, յիշելով իր ողորմութիւնը ինչպէս ինք խոստացած էր մեր հայրերուն - Աբրահամի եւ անոր զարմին հանդէպ՝ յաւիտեան»: Մարիամ անոր քով մնաց՝ գրեթէ երեք ամիս, ապա վերադարձաւ իր տունը: 2 CORINTHIANS 6.16-7.1 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. LUKE 1.39-56 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the 4

baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

Մենք գիտցանք Աստուծոյ մեզի հանդէպ ունեցած սէրը, ու հաւատացինք: Աստուած սէր է. ա՛ն որ կը բնակի սիրոյ մէջ՝ կը բնակի Աստուծոյ մէջ, եւ Աստուած՝ անոր մէջ: (1 Յովհ. 4:16) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.God is love.

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

Ս. Աստուածածնի Վերափոխման իննօրեակին յաջորդող Երեքշաբթի օրը, այս տարի Օգոստոս 25-ին, Հայց. Առաք. Եկեղեցին կը տօնէ Ս. Յովակիմի ու Ս. Աննայի եւ Իւղաբեր Կանանց Յիշատակութեան Օրը: Յովակիմ եւ Աննա ծնողքն էին Ս. Մարիամ Աստուածածնին: Բարեպաշտ եւ մեծահարուստ Յովա-

կիմը ծագումով Իսրայէլի տան արքայական զարմէն էր՝ Յուդայի ցեղէն եւ Դաւիթի ազգէն, իսկ Ս. Աննան՝ քահանայական զարմէ: Աւանդութեան համաձայն՝ օր մը տաճարին մէջ ընծայ մատուցանելու ատեն քահանան կը պատուիրէ որ Յովակիմը շարքին վերջը կենայ, քանի որ անիկա անզաւակ էր: Ասկէ վշտացած` Յովակիմ դուրս կուգայ տաճարէն եւ անմիջապէս լեռը կը բարձրանայ` երդում ընելով, որ հոնտեղէն պիտի չ'իջնէ մինչեւ Աստուծմէ այցելութիւն ստանայ: Աննա ամուսնոյն օրինակին 6

հետեւելով նոյնպէս անդադար կ'աղօթէր: Աստուած լսեց անոնց աղօթքները եւ հրեշատակը անոնց երեւցաւ՝ յայտնելով որ Աստւած անոնց զաւակ պիտի պարգեւէ եւ անոր անունը երանելի պիտի ըլլայ համայն երկրի վրայ։ Ծնողքը կ'որոշեն իրենց զաւակը նուիրել Աստուծոյ: Երբ լրացան օրերը, շնորհանունն Աննա ծնաւ իր դուստրը, եւ անունը կոչեց Մարիամ, որ տարբեր ձեւերով կը ստուգաբանուի տարբեր լեզուներու մէջ՝բարձրութիւն, տիրուհի, լուսաւորեալ, որոնք կը յարմարին մեր Տիրամօրը։ Իւղաբեր կանայք Յիսուսի չարչարանքներու, թաղման եւ խաչելութեան ականատեսներն են: Անոնք Տիրոջ Յարութեան առաջին աւետաբերներն են: Եկեղեցւոյ կողմէ անnնք կը կոչուին «իւղաբեր», որովհետեւ Կիրակի առաւօտեան գացին գերեզման` Յիսուսի մարմինը իրենց պատրաստած անուշահոտ իւղերով օծելու: Իրենց անձնուիրութեան շնորհիւ անnնք արժանացան առաջինը տեսնելու Յարուցեալ Փրկիչը եւ յայտնեցին առաքեալներուն: Անոնք նաեւ խմբովին ներկայ էին Հոգեգալուստին վերնատանը մէջ եւ առաքեալներու հետ ստացան Սուրբ Հոգիի շնորհները:

COMMEMORATION OF STS.JOACHIM AND ANNA AND OIL-BEARING WOMEN The Armenian Apostolic Church commemorates the memory of St. Joachim and Anna together with the Oil-Bearing Women on Tuesday August 25.

According to the tradition, St. Joachim was a descendant of King David, and St. Anna was the daughter of a priest. In Nazareth there lived a rich and pious couple, Joachim and Anne. They were childless. When on a feast day Joachim presented himself to offer sacrifice in the temple, the priest asked him to stand at the end, as he was childless. Upset Joachim left the temple and climbed up the mountains, vowing not to come down until he receives a divine message from God. Having learned the reason of the prolonged absence of her husband, Anna also devoted herself to 7

prayer. God answered their prayers and the Angel of God brought the message, that God will grant them a child whose name will be known to the world. When the child was born, the joyful parents named their daughter Mary, which means "Illuminated” and decided to devote her to the Church.

The oil-bearing women are the first to give the good tidings of the Resurrection of our Lord. They followed Christ during the time of His earthly mission and crucifixion. The church calls them "Oil-Bearing Women" because on Sunday morning after the crucifixion and burial of our Lord Jesus Christ it was them that went to the tomb to anoint the body of Christ with aromatic witnessed the Risen God and told about it to Apostles. They were in the attic during feast of Pentecost and together with the Apostles received the graces of the Holy Spirit.

֍ ՍՈՒՐԲ ԵՐԵՄԻԱՅ ՄԱՐԳԱՐէԻ ՅԻՇԱՏԱԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ՕՐ (Օգոստոս 27, 2020) Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին Երեմիայ մարգարէի յիշատակը կը տօնէ Աստուածածնի Վերափոխման տօնին յաջորդող երկրորդ Հինգշաբթի օրը: Երեմիայ մարգարէն Հին Կտակարանի մեծագոյն դէմքերէն է եւ Աստուածաշունչի չորս մեծ մարգարէներէն մին: («Երեմիայ» անունը կը նշանակէ «Աստուած կը 8

բարձրացնէ»): Երեմիայ ծնած է Երուսաղէմէն ոչ շատ հեռու գըտնըւող Անաթովթ գիւղը: Անոր հայրը՝ Քեղկիան, քահանայ էր: Երեմիա քարոզած եւ ապրած է Երուսաղէմ: Երիտասարդ տարիքէն Աստուծոյ կողմէ կանչուած ըլլալով` հրաժարած է կեանքի բոլոր վայելքներէն ու սրտի խորին նուիրումով ծառայած է իր մարգարէական կոչման: Աստուած ըսաւ անոր.

«Ահա իմ խօսքերս քու բերանդ դրի։ Նայէ՛, ես այսօր քեզ ազգերու վրայ Եւ թագաւորութիւններու վրայ կայնեցուցի, Որպէս զի խլես ու փլցնես եւ կորսնցնես ու աւերես, Նաեւ շինես ու տնկես» (Երեմ. 1:9-10): Իր ազգի մոլորուած ընթացքին պատճառաւ ան ճշմարիտ աստուածպաշտութիւն կը քարոզէր, որպէսզի մարդիկ փոխեն իրենց ընթացքը, իրարու հետ արդար եւ ուղիղ ապրին: Կռապաշտութեան եւ կեանքի դժուարութիւներու մէջ ապրող ժողովուրդը չէր հասկնար անոր, մինչդեռ Երեմեայ կը մարգարէանար Երուսաղէմի ու Տաճարի կործանման մասին: Իր համարձակ խօսքերու համար Երեմիայ բանտարկուեցաւ ջրհորի մը մէջ: Երեմիայ Մարգարէն գրած է Հին Կտակարանի կարեւոր գիրքերէն՝ «Մարգարէութիւն Երեմիոյ», «Ողբք Սրբոյն Երեմիայ մարգարէի»:

COMMEMORATION OF THE PROPHET JEREMIAH The Holy Prophet Jeremiah, one of the four great Old Testament prophets, was son of the priest Helkiah from the city of Anathoth near Jerusalem. He lived 600 years before Christ, under the Israelite king Josiah and four of his successors. He was called to prophetic service at the age of fifteen, and Lord promised to be always with him and to watch over him. “Behold, I have put My words into your mouth. Behold, I have appointed you this day over nations and kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to rebuild, and to plant” (Jer. 1:9-10).

From that time for twenty-three years Jeremiah prophesied, denouncing his people for abandoning the true God and worshipping idols, predicting sorrows and devastating wars, and the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of Temple. For that he was imprisoned. Under the Jewish king Zedekiah his prophecy was fulfilled, when Nebuchadnezzar 9

invaded and slaughtered many people, carried off a remnant into captivity, and Jerusalem was pillaged and destroyed. Nebuchadnezzar released the prophet from prison and permitted him to live where he wanted. The prophet remained at the ruins of Jerusalem and bewailed his nation’s misfortune. Later he was taken to Egypt by force by Jews. Even in Egypt he continued to rebuke his fellow exiles. According to a tradition, while in Egypt, Jeremiah prophesied that the King of Babylon would invade Egypt and annihilate the Jews living there. For this he was stoned to death by his exasperated fellow countrymen. There is a tradition, that 250 years later, Alexander the Great transported the relics of Prophet Jeremiah to Alexandria. The Prophet Jeremiah wrote his Book of Prophecies and also the Book of Lamentations about the desolation of Jerusalem and the Exile.

Աստուածածնի Վերափոխման երրորդ Կիրակիին նախորդող Շաբաթ օրը, այս տարի Օգոստոս 29-ին: Յիսուս Քրիստոսի հրաշափառ Յարութենէն յետոյ, երբ միւս առաքեալները կը վկայէին եւ կը պնդէին թէ տեսած են յարուցեալ Քրիստոսը, Թովմասը թերահաւատօրէն կը պնդէր թէ ինք կը հաւատայ միայն այն պարագային, երբ իր աչքերով տեսնէ Յիսուսը եւ իր ձեռքը մխրճէ Անոր խոցուած կողին մէջ: Քանի մը օր անց, Վերնատան մէջ Յիսուս կը յայտնուի թերահաւատ առաքեալին: Հաւատալով կատարուած հրաշքին, Թովմաս ծունկի կու գայ եւ կը խոստովանի. «Տէ’ր իմ եւ Աստուած իմ» (Յովհ. 20: 28): Ըստ աւանդութեան՝ Թովմասը Աստուծոյ խօսքը քարոզած է Հռոմի կայսրութեան սահմաններէն դուրս եւ հասած է մինչեւ Հնդկաստան, ուր նահատակուած ու թաղուած է Մադրաս քաղաքին մօտ:

COMMEMORATION OF ST. THOMAS On Saturday August 29 the Armenian church commemorates St. Thomas the Apostle. St. Thomas was one of 12 Apostles and was skeptical at first when other Apostles told him that Jesus had risen from the dead

and appeared to the them. Thomas said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” But later, when Jesus appeared and told Thomas to touch his wounds and behold him, Thomas showed his belief by saying, “My Lord and my God”. Jesus then said, “Thomas, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” In this passage we see that not only did St. Thomas believed that Christ had resurrected and appeared to them, but he also proclaimed Christ’s divinity. (John 20:24-29) St. Thomas is said to have traveled outside the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel. He went as far as India, where he was martyred on a hill which is now called “Mount of St. Thomas” near Madras.

OUR CHURCH HAS REOPENED Dear faithful, It is with a heart full of spiritual happiness we announce that based on the decision of Mr. Doug Ford, Ontario Premier, and the blessings of H.E. Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Church of Canada, Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church reopened its doors to the faithful on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

The church will be open for prayers and visits every: Sunday for Divine Liturgy, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. Live streaming will be available on the church Facebook page.

Wednesday, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, prayers for the recovery of those who are ill. Live streaming will be available on the church Facebook page.

Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, during the church office hours, for private prayers and lighting of candles.

In order to register names for baptisms, weddings, funeral services, as well as requiem and prayers for health or to visit the church office, you are kindly advised to contact the office beforehand: Tel.: 416-431-3001 ext. 226

ATTENTION We would like to draw your attention to the following important points: According to the decision made by the Provincial authorities, we will be able to admit only a limited number of faithful, in order to be able to apply all security measures: keeping 6 feet apart. Families living in the same household will be allowed to sit together; however, each person will be counted separately in the headcount. No handshakes and hugs, please.

All those who visit the church must wear a face mask. Please bring your own to help ensure supplies last.

A designated person will record the names of the visitors and escort them to their assigned seat.

The collection tray will not be passed but rather placed in the Church lobby, where people can make their offering on their way out.

All those in high risk groups are strongly urged to stay home.

You cannot enter the Church if any of the following applies to you: 1. a family member or anybody in your immediate surrounding has any of the symptoms listed below or has tested positive for Covid-19; 2. have fever; 3. have a cough; 4. have a sore throat; 5. have loss of taste or smell; 6. traveled outside the province of Ontario APPRECIATION We extend our thanks to the deacons and the members of the church choir, who voluntarily participated in the ceremonies during these difficult times and to you, dear faithful, for your patience, prayers and your donations to support the mission of our Church.

ՈՒՇԱԴՐՈՒԹԻՒՆ Ձեր ուշադրութիւնը կ'ուզենք հրաւիրել հետեւեալ կարեւոր կէտերուն. Նահանգային կառավարութեան առած որոշումին համաձայն, առայժմ մենք արարողութիւններուն պիտի կարենանք սահմանափակ թիւով հաւատացեալներ ընդունիլ, ապահովութեան բոլոր միջոցները կիրառելու համար, 6 ոտք հեռաւորութիւն պահելով։ Ընտանիքներ, որոնք նոյն յարկին տակ կը բնակին, կրնան միասին նստիլ, բայց իւրաքանչիւր անձ իբրեւ առանձին թիւ պիտի նկատուի հաշիւին մէջ։ Ձեռնուիլ եւ փաթթուիլ պէտք չէ ըլլայ։ Բոլոր անոնք որոնք եկեղեցի կ'այցելեն, պարտին դիմակ կրել։ Հաճեցէք միշտ ձեր անձնական դիմակները հայթայթել։ Նշանակուած անձ մը ձեր անունները պիտի արձանագրէ եւ ձեր տեղերը առաջնորդէ։ Պատարագի դրամահաւաքի պնակը չպիտի դարձուի, այլ պիտի դրուի եկեղեցւոյ նախասրահի մէջ, ուր ելլած ատէն պիտի կարենաք ձեր նուէրները դնել։ ԶԳՈՒՇԱՑՈՒՄ Բոլոր այն անձերը որոնք հիւանդանալու բարձր կարելիութիւն ունին նախընտրելի է որ տունը մնան։ Եկեղեցի չէք կրնար մտնել եթէ հետեւեալ կէտերէն որեւէ մէկը կը կիրարկուի.
