ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ԿՈՂՄԷ ԹԵՍԱՂՈՆԻԿԵՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ ԳՐՈՒԱԾ ԱՌԱՋԻՆ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 4:1-11 Ուրեմն, եղբայրնե՛ր, կը թախանձենք ձեզի ու կը յորդորենք ձեզ Տէր Յիսուսով, որպէսզի՝ ինչպէս ընդունեցիք մեզմէ թէ ի՛նչպէս պէտք է ընթանաք եւ հաճեցնէք Աստուած՝ ա՛լ աւելի ճոխանաք անոր մէջ, քանի որ գիտէք թէ ի՛նչ պատուէրներ տուինք ձեզի՝ Տէր Յիսուսով: Որովհետեւ Աստուծոյ կամքը՝ ձեր սրբացումն է, որ ետ կենաք պոռնկութենէ, ու ձեզմէ իւրաքանչիւրը գիտնայ իր անօթին տիրանալ սրբութեամբ եւ պատիւով. ո՛չ թէ ցանկութեան կիրքով, ինչպէս հեթանոսները՝ որ չեն ճանչնար Աստուած: Ո՛չ մէկը թող չափազանցէ այդ բանին՝՝ մէջ ու կեղեքէ իր եղբայրը, քանի որ Տէրը վրէժխընդիր է այդ բոլորին համար, ինչպէս մենք ալ նախապէս ըսինք ձեզի եւ վկայեցինք. որովհետեւ Աստուած կանչեց մեզ ո՛չ թէ անմաքրութեան, հապա՝ սրբութեան: Ուստի ա՛ն որ կ՚անարգէ՝ կ՚անարգէ ո՛չ թէ մարդ մը, հապա Աստուած՝ որ իր Սուրբ Հոգին ալ տուաւ մեզի: Իսկ եղբայրսիրութեան մասին պէտք չունիք որ գրեմ ձեզի, որովհետեւ դուք արդէն Աստուծմէ սորված էք սիրել զիրար, եւ արդարեւ ատիկա կ՚ընէք ամբողջ Մակեդոնիայի մէջ եղող բոլոր եղբայրներուն հանդէպ: Սակայն կ՚աղաչե՛նք ձեզի, եղբայրնե՛ր, որ ա՛լ աւելի ճոխանաք, ու պատի՛ւ համարէք հանդարտ կենալ, ձեր գործերով զբաղիլ եւ ձեր ձեռքերով աշխատիլ, (ինչպէս պատուիրեցինք ձեզի,) որպէսզի դուրսիններուն հետ վարուիք վայելչութեամբ ու ո՛չ մէկ բանի՝՝ պէտք ունենաք: 3

ՂՈՒԿԱՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 13:1-9 Այդ ատեն ներկայ եղողներէն ոմանք պատմեցին անոր այն Գալիլեացիներուն մասին, որոնց արիւնը Պիղատոս խառնեց իրենց զոհերուն հետ: Յիսուս պատասխանեց անոնց. «Կը կարծէ՞ք թէ այդ Գալիլեացիները աւելի մեղաւոր էին բոլոր Գալիլեացիներէն, քանի որ այսպիսի չարչարանքներ կրեցին: Կ՚ըսեմ ձեզի՝ ո՛չ: Հապա եթէ չապաշխարէք, բոլորդ ալ նոյնպէս պիտի կորսուիք: Կամ թէ այն տասնութ հոգիները, որոնց վրայ Սելովամի աշտարակը ինկաւ եւ սպաննեց զանոնք, կը կարծէ՞ք թէ անոնք Երուսաղէմ բնակող բոլոր մարդոցմէ աւելի յանցաւոր էին: Կ՚ըսեմ ձեզի՝ ո՛չ: Հապա եթէ չապաշխարէք, բոլորդ ալ նմանապէս պիտի կորսուիք»: Սա՛ առակն ալ ըսաւ. «Մէկը իր այգիին մէջ ունէր տնկուած թզենի մը. եկաւ պտուղ փնտռելու անոր վրայ, բայց չգըտաւ: Ուստի ըսաւ այգեպանին. “Ահա՛ երեք տարի է, որ կու գամ՝ պտուղ կը փնտռեմ այդ թզենիին վրայ, ու չեմ գտներ. ա՛լ կտրէ՛ զայն, ինչո՞ւ խափանէ գետինը”: Ան ալ պատասխանեց անոր. “Տէ՛ր, ա՛յս տարի ալ ձգէ զայն, մինչեւ որ բրեմ անոր շուրջը ու թրիք դնեմ: Եթէ պտուղ տայ՝ լա՛ւ. այլապէս՝ յետագայի՛ն կտրէ զայն”»: 1ST THESSALONIANS 4:1-11 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control 4

your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

LUKE 13:1-9 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were guiltier than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ “ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it 5

and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’ ”

ՍՈՒՐԲ ԵՐՐՈՐԴՈՒԹՈՒՆ ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԵԱՅՑ ԱՌԱՔԵԼԱԿԱՆ ԵԿԵՂԵՑՒՈՅ 93-ՐԴ ՏԱՐԵԴԱՐՁ ՀԱՄԱՌՕՏ ՊԱՏՄՈՒԹԻՒՆ Թորոնթօ հաստատուած բուռ մը հայեր, 1928-ին, հիմը դրին իրենց համայնքին, տարին քանի մը անգամ պաշտամունք կատարելով Ս. Ստեփանոս Անկլիքան եկեղեցւոյ մէջ։ 1930-էն մինչեւ 1953 թուականը, նոյնը շարունակուեցաւ հիւրընկալ Ս. Երրորդութիւն Անկլիքան եկեղեցւոյ մէջ, երբ 200-ի հասնող թորոնթոհայութիւնը բարձրացուց իր սեփական եկեղեցին Woodlawn պողոտայի վրայ։ Օծումը կատարուեցաւ 6 Դեկտեմբեր 1953-ին, ձեռամբ ամերիկահայոց Արեւելեան Թեմի Առաջնորդ՝ Տ. Տիրան Արք. Ներսոյեանի։ Ի պատիւ հիւրընկալ Ս. Երրորդութիւն Անկլիքան եկեղեցւոյ, այս նորակառոյց գողտրիկ եկեղեցին անուանուեցաւ՝ Ս. Երրորդութիւն Հայաստանեայց Առաքելական Եկեղեցի։ 1963-ին, ան օժտուեցաւ համապատասխան ներքնասըրահով մը ու եղաւ թորոնթոհայութեան ազգայինեկեղեցական եւ մշակութային կեանքի կեդրոնը, իր երիտասարդական միութիւններով, շաբաթօրեայ եւ կիրակնօրեայ վարժարաններով, եւ այլն։ 1970-ական թուականներու վերջին, երբ հայութիւնն արդէն Թորոնթոյի մէջ լուրջ թիւ մը կը ներկայացնէր, նկատի ունենալով ստեղծուած նոր 6

պայմանները, ժողովուրդի մեծամասնութեան եւ Պատկան Իշխանութեանց կողմէ յարմար նկատուեցաւ նոյն Ս. Երրորդութեան անունով կառուցել նոր եկեղեցի մը Սքարպորոյի մէջ, որը առաւել եւս գոհացում պիտի տար թորոնթոհայութեան ազգայինեկեղեցական եւ հոգեւոր կարիքներուն։ Եկեղեցւոյս շինարարական աշխատանքները սկիզբ առին 28 Օգոստոս 1986 թուականին եւ հասան իրենց բարեյաջող աւարտին 1987-ի Նոյեմբերին, շնորհիւ այդ ժամանակուայ ժրաջան հովիւին՝ Գերաշնորհ Տ. Յովնան Արք. Տէրտէրեանի եռանդուն գործունէութեան եւ համայն ժողովուրդի անմնացորդ մասնակցութեան։ Նորակառոյց եկեղեցւոյ օծումը տեղի ունեցաւ 15 Նոյեմբեր 1987-ին, ձեռամբ՝ Նորին Ս. Օծութիւն Տ. Տ. Վազգէն Ա. Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի։ Ս. Երրորդութիւն Հայց. Առաք. Եկեղեցւոյ ճարտարապետական թեման, իբրեւ սկզբունք որդեգրեց «Միութիւն» կարգախօսը, որ համադրուեցաւ եկեղեցւոյ ոճի յղացման մէջ, այսինքն՝ միաձուլումը աւանդականի ու նորի։ Ճարտարապետը՝ Տիար Թագւոր Յոբեան, իր ներշնչումի աղբիւրը գտաւ Ս. Հռիփսիմէ տաճարի անզուգական ոճին մէջ, որը շաղախեց ժամանակակից հասկացողութեամբ՝ ստեղծելով ինքնատիպ կառոյց մը։ 1996 թուականէն ի վեր, Ս. Երրորդութիւն Հայց. Առաք. Եկեղեցւոյ Հոգեւոր Հովիւն է Արժ. Տ. Զարեհ Ա. Քհնյ. Զարգարեանը:

93th ANNIVERSARY OF THE HOLY TRINITY ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH A BRIEF HISTORY As early as 1928, a handful of Armenians held a few yearly Divine Liturgies at the St. Stephan’s Anglican Church. During the years extending between 1930 and 1953, Divine Liturgies were offered at Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Then, with the efforts of the 200 or so Armenians in Toronto, a new church was erected on Woodlawn Avenue at Yonge Street. The church was named Holy Trinity Armenian Church, in honour of Anglican Church parish that hosted the Armenians for so many years. It was consecrated on December 6, 1953, by the Primate of

the Eastern Diocese of America, His Eminence Archbishop Tiran Nersoyan.

Holy Trinity parish was blessed by the inaugural visit of His Holiness, Vasken I, Catholicos of All Armenians, of Blessed Memory, in 1960.

Shortly after, the parish joyfully received its first permanent pastor, Very Rev. Fr. Jirayr Tashjian in 1961.

In 1963, with the addition of a parish hall in the lower level, the Armenians in Toronto had a spiritual and cultural centre complete with Ladies’ Auxiliary, youth organizations, and Saturday and Sunday schools.

By the late 1970s, as the number of Armenians in Toronto increased significantly, it was deemed appropriate and necessary to build a new church, carrying the same name, in Scarborough, to satisfy the spiritual and national needs of the growing community.

Ground was broken on August 28, 1986 by His Eminence Shnork Kaloustian, Patriarch of Constantinople and His Eminence Arch. Bishop Vazken Keshishian for the new Holy Trinity site in Scarborough 1986, and the structure was completed by November 1987, thanks to the efforts of the then-Pastor, now, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, H.E. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, and the participation of the Armenian community of Toronto. The consecration of the new church took place on November 15, 1987, by His Holiness Vazken I, Catholicos of All Armenians. The architectural theme of Holy Trinity Armenian Church symbolizes unity, while the style itself is a merging of the old and the new. The architect, Mr. Takvor Hopyan, created a unique structure influenced by the style of St. Hripsime cathedral in Etchmiadzin. As mementos of the old building of Holy Trinity on Woodlawn, the altar and stained-glass windows of the old church gracefully reside in the new church.

Since 1996, the parish has been blessed to have Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, as their spiritual leader, the vital and caring pastor.

The Church provides the space for families to host coffee and sweets receptions following memorial service at the church.

You must show your proof of second vaccination against Covid-19 and ID to be able to use the lower level facilities at the Holy Trinity Armenian Church. Children under 12 years old do not have to show proof of vaccination.

Թադէոսի և Ս. Բարթողիմէոսի յիշատակութեան օրը: Թադէոս առաքեալը ծանօթ է նաեւ Ղեբէոս անունով: Թադէոս առաքեալ Պաղեստինի սահմաններէն դուրս նախ քարոզած է մերձակայ երկիրներու մէջ, այնուհետեւ մուտք գործած է հայոց գաւառները: Շնորհիւ անոր քարոզչութեան Քրիստոնեայ կը մկրտուին խոնարհ դասի մարդիկ, ազնուականներ, արքունիքի անդամներ ու 18-ամեայ արքայադուստր` Սանդուխտ կոյսը: Երբ հայոց Սանատրուկ արքան կը տեղեկանայ այս նոր կրօնին գտած մեծ ժողովրդականութեան եւ իր աղջկան քրիստոնէութիւնը ընդունած ըլլալու մասին՝ խիստ կը զայրանայ: Իր սպառնալիքները որեւէ արդիւնք չեն ունենար եւ արքան իր աղջկայ մահուան վճիռը կու տայ, երեք օր յետոյ կը նահատակուի նաեւ Թադէոս առաքեալ: 10

Թադէոս առաքեալն էր, որ հռովմէացի զինուորին ձեռամբ Քրիստոսի կողը խոցած նիզակը` Ս. Գեղարդը, Հայաստան բերաւ: Բարթողիմէոս առաքեալ Յիսուսի 12 առաքեալներէն մէկն է: Զայն գիտենք նաեւ Նաթանայէլ անունով, որ կը նշանակէ Աստուծոյ ընծայ, նուէր: Ծնած է Գալիլիոյ Կանա քաղաքը: Բարթողիմէոս Յիսուս Քրիստոսի Աստուածորդի ըլլալը յայտարարելու համար կոչուած է Նախադաւան Առաքեալ: Բարթողիմէոս առաքեալ նախ կը քարոզէ Սիւնեաց գաւառին մէջ, ապա՝ Գողթն: Աղբակ գաւառին մէջ կը հանդիպի Սանատրուկ թագաւորի քրոջը` Ոգուհիին, որը կը հետեւի առաքեալի քարոզած վարդապետութեան, կը մկրտուի եւ կը դառնայ քրիստոնեայ: Սանատրուկ արքայ կ՛ուղարկէ իր Տերենտես անունով հազարապետը, որ համոզէ իր քոյրը ու ան ետ դառնայ իր նոր կրօնի պաշտամունքէն: Բայց ազդուած Բարթողիմէոս Առաքեալի քարոզչութենէն, Տերենտես ինքն ալ կ՛ընդունի քրիստոնէութիւնը: Այս պատճառաւ անոնք ատեան կը բերուին: Երբ անոնք հաստատ կը մնան իրենց հաւատքին վրայ, արքայաքոյր Ոգուհին, հազարապետ Տերենտեսն ու Բարթողիմէոս առաքեալ կը նահատակուին:

COMMEMORATION OF SAINTS THADDEUS AND BARTHOLOMEW This Saturday, December 4, the Armenian Church commemorates two of the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ Saints Thaddeus and Bartholomew. They were the first illuminators of Armenia, who came to preach the Christianity in our land and therefore the Armenian Church 11

was named Apostolic. Unfortunately, both of them were martyred in Armenia.

St. Thaddeus came to Armenia in about 43 AD and many people converted to Christianity because of his preaching. Amongst the new Christians was princess Sandoukht. Despite her father’s requests to turn back to the pagan religion, Sandoukht stayed loyal her Christian faith.

King Sanadruk ordered to kill her and St. Thaddeus.

The tomb of St. Thaddeus lies in the Armenian monastery of St. Thaddeus (nowadays Iran) where a chapel was built in the third century.

Since 1954, in the month of July annual 3 day long pilgrimages are organized to the Monastery of St. Thaddeus. In Armenian Icons St. Thaddeus is portrayed with the Holy Spear in his hand.

St. Bartholomew is believed to have arrived to Armenia in about 66 AD. Bartholomew followed Thaddeus' mission to Armenia around the time of Sandoukht's imprisonment and martyrdom. He converted King Sanatruk's sister Voghuhi. The king in anger ordered the execution of both his sister and Bartholomew. St. Bartholomew’s Tomb and Monastery are near present day Baskale in the Van Province of southeastern Turkey.

It was an important pilgrimage site prior to the Armenian Genocide. Today, only the ruins of the monastery remain.

In Armenian icons St. Bartholomew is portrayed with the board, that has the image of Holy Mother of God on it, in his 12

Hand. The board was given to him by apostles for consolation, following the Assumption of St. Mary.

ՍՈՒՐԲ ԳԵՂԱՐԴ Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի բազմաթիւ սրբութիւններէն ու մասունքերէն մէկը Աստուածամուխ Սուրբ Գեղարդն է, որով նաեւ կ՛օրհնուի Հայոց Եկեղեցւոյ Սրբալոյս Միւռոնը: Աստուածամուխ Սուրբ Գեղարդը այն նիզակի ծայրն է, որով հռոմէացի զինուորը խաչի վրայ խոցեց մեր Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսը: Եկեղեցւոյ աւանդութեան համաձայն, Գեղարդը առաջին դարուն Հայոց աշխարհ բերած է Քրիստոսի 12 աշակերտներէն Ս. Թադէոս առաք-եալը: Համաքրիստոնէական այդ սրբութիւնը դարեր շարունակ պահուած է պատմական Հայաստանի տարբեր վանքերու մէջ, իսկ 13-րդ դարէն` Այրիվանքի մէջ, որ յետագային անուանուած է Գեղարդավանք: 18-րդ դարու երկրորդ կէսին Ս. Գեղարդը բերուած է Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածին եւ մինչեւ այսօր կը պահուի հոն:

THE HOLY SPEAR The Holy Spear (Geghard) is one of most treasured Holy relics of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. This is the Spear that the Roman soldier used to pierce the side of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. According to church tradition, the Spear was brought to Armenia in the first century by one of the 12 disciples of Christ Thaddeus. For centuries, this universal Holy relic was kept in various monasteries of Armenia and from 13th century it was moved to the Ayrivank monastery, which later was named 13

Geghardawank (the monastery of Spear). In mid-18th century the Spear was brought to the Holy See of Etcmiadzin and is kept there till this day.
