«Իսկ այդ օրն ու ժամը՝ ո՛չ մէկ մարդ գիտէ, ո՛չ ալ երկինքի հրեշտակները, հապա՝ միա՛յն իմ Հայրս: GALATIANS 6:14-18 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God. From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

MATTHEW 24:30-36 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth c will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it e is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

ԱՅՍ ԿԻՐԱԿԻ - THIS SUNDAY ՏՕՆ ՎԱՐԱԳԱՅ ՍՈՒՐԲ ԽԱՉԻ Ըստ պատմիչ Ագաթանգեղոսի Հռիփսիմեանց կոյսերը փախչելով Դիոկղետիանոս կայսրի հալածանքներէն կը հասնին Հայաստան եւ կ՛ապաստանին Վաղարշապատի հնձաններուն մէջ։ Նախքան Վաղարշապատ հասնիլը, անոնք կը բնակին նաեւ՝ Վանայ Լիճէն դէպի հարաւ-արեւելք գտնուող Վարագայ լերան վրայ։ Հռիփսիմէ կոյսը` կուրծքէն կախած Տիրոջ խաչափայտի սրբազան մասունքը ապահովութեան նպատակով կը յանձնէ այնտեղ աղօթող ճգնաւորներուն, խնդրելով որ զայն պահեն քարայրներէն մէկուն մէջ։ Խաչափայտի Սուրբ մասունքը այնտեղ պահուած կը մնայ մինչեւ 7 րդ դար։ 653-ին երբ Թոդիկ ճգնաւորը իր Հովել անունով աշակերտին հետ կ՛աղօթէր Վարագայ լերան վրայ խնդրելով Աստուծոյ ողորմութիւնը՝ գտնելու Ս. Խաչի պահուած վայրը, յանկարծ լուսեղէն 12 սիւներ ի յայտ կու գան լերան շուրջ, որոնց միջեւ կ՛երեւար լուսաւոր խաչը։ 12 օրեր շարունակ լուսեղէն սիւները տեսանելի կը դառնան մինչեւ հեռաւոր վայրեր, մեծ ուրախութիւն սփռելով ամէնուր։ Ներսէս շինող կաթողիկոսը եւ Թէոթորս իշխանի որդի՝ Վարդ սպարապետը երբ կը լսեն լուրը կ՛երթան Վարագայ լեռ, տեսնելու կատարուած հրաշքը։ Վեհափառ Հայրապետը ժողովուրդի աջակցութեամբ այնտեղ կը կառուցէ փառաւոր եկեղեցի մը, զոր կը կոչէ Սուրբ Նշան։ Այս առթիւ Ներսէս հայրապետի կողմէ գրուած «Նշանաւ Ամենայաղթ» անզուգական շարականը կ՛երգուի եկեղացական տօնական օրերուն։ Խաչի սրբազան մասունքը կը մնայ Վարագայ վանքի մէջ մինչեւ 1021 թուականը, ապա Սենեքերիմ Արծրունին զայն կը տեղափոխէ Սեփաստիա։ Մասունքը յետագային՝ 1651ին կը գերեվարուի, սակայն 1655 թուականին ան կ՛ազատագրուի ու կը զետեղուի Վանի Տիրամօր եկեղեցւոյ մէջ , որ կը վերանուանուի ու կը կոչուի Ս. Նշան։ Մասունքը կը մնայ այնտեղ մինչեւ 1915 թուականը։ Ներսէս շինող հայրապետը կարգ կը սահմանէ, որ ամէն տարի տօնակատարուի «Վարագայ Սուրբ Տօնը»։ Տասներկու եկեղեցիներ

կը կառուցուին տասներկու լուսեղէն սիւներու երեւցած վայրերուն վրայ։

FEAST OF THE HOLY CROSS OF VARAK According to tradition when St. Hripsime and her companions came to Armenia to escape emperor Diocletian, she brought a relic of Holy Cross with her. Before leaving for Vagharshabad, St Hripsime hid it in the Mounts of Varak and only couple of pious monks knew its location.

After her martyrdom and the death of the monks, the relic remained hidden in the secret place for nearly 300 years. In the year 653, hermit Todik of Glak began looking for the relic. Todik’s prayers to find it were answered and he was shown the location of Holy relic in a vision: he suddenly saw a wonderful light on the top of mountain Varak, surrounded by 12 luminous columns. Monks Todik and Joel followed the light and found the relic of Holy Cross resting on the Holy Altar.

The Catholicos, St. Nerses III the Builder, came to Varak to witness the miracle. He ordered that each year the Sunday closest to September 28 (September 25 - October 1) be dedicated to the Holy Cross-of Varak.

First the relic was placed at the Monastery of Varak and later in the church the Holy Sign and remained there until 1021, when Senekerim Ardzrouni brought the relic to Sebastia. After his death the relic is again transferred to its old place and remained there until it was taken to Khoshab in 1651. Four years later the relic is returned and placed in the Church of Holy Mother of God in Van, which later was renamed the Church of Holy Sign. The relic was preserved there till 1915.

Unfortunately, after the Armenian Genocide the whereabouts of the relic are unknown. ԳԻՏԷԻ՞Ր ԹԷ, Վարագայ Սուրբ խաչի մասունքը նախապէս կը պատկանէր Կլաուդիոս կայսեր կնոջը՝ Պատրոնիկէին: Յիսուս Քրիստոսի խաչափայտի սուրբ մասունքը անոր տուած էր Երուսաղէմի առաջին Եպիսկոպոս Յակոբոս առաքեալը, երբ ինք ուխտի գացած էր Երուսաղէմ: Կայսրուհին մասունքը կը տանի Հռոմ, որը սերունդէ սերունդ փոխանցելով կը հասնի Հռիփսիմէին, քանի որ սուրբ կոյսը Կլաուդիոս կայսեր սերունդէն էր: Ս. Հռիփսիմէն անբաժան էր այդ սուրբ մասունքէն, որու վրայ թափուած էր Տէրոջ Փրկարար Արիւնը: Երբ, Դիոկղետիանոս կայսրը կամեցաւ կնութեան առնել սուրբ Հռիփսիմէն, Ս. Կոյսը հաւատարիմ մնալով իր հաւատքին, մերժեց կայսրեր առաջարկը եւ Ս. Գայիանէ մայրապետի գլխաւորութեամբ՝ եօթանասուն կոյսերու հետ միասին, փախան նախ Եգիպտոս, ապա՝ Երուսաղէմ: Հոս, Ս. Աստուածածնի գերեզմանի վրայ աղօթած ատեն ստացան աստուածային պատգամ՝ երթալու Թադէոս առաքեալի ճամբով: Հնազանդելով հրամանին՝ անոնք գացին նախ Եդեսիա, ապա շարունակեցին իրենց ճանապարհը դէպի Հայաստան՝ իրենց հետ հայոց աշխարհ բերելով Տիրոջ խաչափայտի մասունքը: DID YOU KNOW? Originally, the relic of the Holy Cross of Varak was given to Empress Petronice, the wife of Emperor Claudius. It was given to her by the first Bishop of Jerusalem St. James the Apostle. Empress took the relic of the Holy Cross to Rome, and it was passed from generation to generation.

Eventually the relic St. Hripsime inherited the relic, as she belonged to the noble lineage of Emperor Claudius.

When the Emperor Diocletian was determined to marry St. Hripsime, she refused him, and soon she fled Rome with St. Gayane and 70 nuns to escape prosecutions. First they went to Egypt, than to Jerusalem. Here they were praying on the Gravesite of St. Mary, asking for direction.

Having received the answer to their prayers, the nuns followed the divine message. They went first to Edessa, and later continued their way to 7

Armenia, bringing with them the relic of the holy Cross to the land of Ararat. ՎԱՐԱԳԱՅ ՎԱՆՔԸ ՄՇԱԿՈՅԹԻ ԿԵԴՐՈՆ Մեծ վանեցի Խրիմեան Հայրիկ, Վանայ իր առաջնորդութեան շրջանին, Վարագայ վանքին մէջ կը բանայ դպրոց, ձեռագրատուն, տըպարան ու զարկ կու տայ մշակութային եռուն գործունէութեան։ Վարագայ վանքը այնուհետեւ կը դառնայ գաւառի մշակութային կեդրոնը։ Որոշ ժամանակ մը այս դպրոցին մէջ ուսուցչութիւն ըրած է նաեւ մեծ վիպասան Ռաֆֆին:

ՀԱՅ ԱՌԱՔԵԼԱԿԱՆ ԵԿԵՂԵՑԻՆ ՈՒՆԻ ՍՈՒՐԲ ԽԱՉԻՆ ՆՈՒԻՐՈՒԱԾ ՀԵՏԵՒԵԱԼ ՏՕՆԵՐԸ Սուրբ Խաչի երեւման, Խաչվերաց, Վարագայ Ս. Խաչի եւ Ս․ Խաչի գիւտ։ Չորս տօներէն երեքը կը նշուին քրիստոնեայ բոլոր եկեղեցիներէն ներս. իւրայատուկ է Վարագայ Սուրբ Խաչի տօնը, որ կը նշուի միայն հայկական եկեղեցւոյ մէջ, Խաչվերացի տօնէն երկու շաբաթներ ետք՝ Սեպտեմբեր 25-էն մինչեւ Հոկտեմբեր 1-ի միջեւ հանդիպող Կիրակի օրը։

ՏՕՆԵՐ- FEASTS ՏՕՆ Ս. ԳԷՈՐԳ ԶՕՐԱՎԱՐԻ Խաչվերացի երկրորդ կիրակիին յաջորդող Շաբաթ օրը (այս տարի Սեպտեմբեր 25-2021-ին), Ս. Գէորգի յիշատակութեան օրն է: Ս. Գէորգ ծնած է Կապադովկիա, քրիստոնեայ ընտանիքի մէջ: Երիտասարդ հասակէն ծառայած է հռովմէական բանակին մէջ եւ իր խիզախութեան շնորհիւ արժանացած է հազարապետի աստիճանի: Ընդդիմացած է Դիոկղետիանոս Կայսեր քրիստոնեաները հալածելու ծրագրին, որով բացայայտած է իր քրիստոնեայ ըլլալը: Կայսրը բանտարկած է Գէորգը՝ անոր ենթարկելով չարչարանքներու: Կայսրը շատ կը փորձէր համոզել Գէորգը ետ դառնալու հեթանոսական կրօնին: Իր բազում թախանձանքներուն տեղի տալով՝ Գէորգը կը համաձայնի կուռքերուն զոհ մատուցանել: Բայց հասնելով մեհեան կը ջարդէ բոլոր կուռքերը: Այս յանդուգն արարքին համար Դիոկղետիանոս կայսրը 303 թուականին գլխատել կու տայ Ս. Գէորգը: Բազմաթիւ աւանդութիւններ հիւսուած են Ս. Գէորգի մասին: Ասոնցմէ ամենածանօթը այն է, որ Գէորգը սպաննելով վիշապը ազատած է կոյս մը, եւ ասոր համար կ’ընդունուի որպէս վիշապասպան սուրբ: Անգլիացիները Սուրբ Գէորգ Զօրավարին կը համարեն իրենց պահապան սուրբը:

FEAST OF ST. GEORGE THE WARRIOR On Saturday September 25th, the Armenian Church commemorated St. George the Warrior. S. George was born and raised in a pious Christian family in Cappadocia. At the young age he served in the Roman army, and due to his courage and heroic deeds he is soon promoted to the rank of a Captain.

St. George openly opposes Roman Emperor Diocletian's plans to persecute Christians, and the fact that he is Christian, is revealed. In rage and disbelief, the Emperor orders to imprison St. George and subjects him to torture. The emperor continuously tries to convince St. George to turn away from Christianity. His efforts seem to pay off, when St. George agrees to offer sacrifice to idols. But when he reached the temple St. George one by one destroyed the statues of idols proving their falsehood.

This as a result, in 303 Diocletian orders to behead St. George. St. George is considered to be the patron saint of England. Ս.ԳԷՈՐԳ ԶՕՐԱՎԱՐԻ ՏՕՆԻ ԱՒԱՆԴՈՒԹԻՒՆՆԵՐ Ս. Գէորգի տօնը յատուկ շուքով կը նշուի Ս. Գէորգ անունը կրող եկեղեցիներուն մէջ: Շատ եկեղեցիներու մէջ տօնակատարութիւնը կը սկըսին Շաբաթ օրուայ Երեկոյեան ժամերգութեամբ. կը կատարւի նախատօնակ, ընթերցում Ս. Գէորգի Վարքէն: Տօնի օրը բոլոր Սբ. Գէորգ եկեղեցիներէն ներս կը մատուցուի Սուրբ եւ Անմահ Պատարագ: Յաւարտ Ս. Պատարագի կը կատարուի Մատաղի օրհնութիւն եւ հիւրասիրութիւն: Աւանդութեան համաձայն, Ս. Գէորգի տօնի օրը Էջմիածինէն Արագածոտնի մարզի Մուղնու Ս. Գէորգ Եկեղեցի կը բերուի Ս. Գէորգ զօրավարի մասունքը եւ հաւատացեալները առիթ կ'ունենան հաղորդուելու Սուրբի մասունքին: Աւանդոյթի համաձայն Ս. Գէորգի տօնի օրը Երեւանի Նորագաւիթ համայնքի բնակիչները յաւարտ Ս. Պատարագի Ս. Գէորգ եկեղեցւոյ բակը յատուկ մատաղ կը մատուցեն: Այս տօնը կը նշանաւորուի նաեւ Նորագաւիթի խորհրդանիշը համարուող դեղձի օրհնութեամբ: Օրհնութեան համար բերքի լաւագոյն մասը կը բերուի եկեղեցի եւ օրհնուած դեղձերով կը հիւրասիրուին բոլորը: Ս. Գէորգ Զօրավարը կը համարուի նաեւ զինուորներու պահապան սուրբը, եւ այդ օրը եկեղեցի գալով հաւատացեալները յատուկ 10

կ'աղօթեն իրենց զինուորներու ապահովութեան համար եւ կը հայցեն սուրբի բարեխօսութիւնը: Արդէն աւանդոյթ դարձած է Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի Գէորգեան հոգեւոր ճեմարանի պաշտօնական բացումը տօնել Սուրբ Գէորգի տօնին օրը: Ճեմարանը հիմնադրուած է 1874 թ. Երջանկայիշատակ Գէորգ IV կաթողիկոսի կողմէ եւ Հայաստանի մէջ գործող երեք հոգեւոր հաստատութիւններէն մին է:
