ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔ. ԿՈՐՆԹԱՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ ԳՐԱԾ 2-ՐԴ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 1.1-11 Պօղոս, Աստուծոյ կամքովը Յիսուս Քրիստոսին առաքեալը ու Տիմոթէոս մեր եղբայրը. Կորնթոսի մէջ եղած Աստուծոյ եկեղեցիին եւ Աքայիայի մէջ եղող բոլոր սուրբերուն. Շնորհք եւ խաղաղութիւն ձեզի Աստուծմէ մեր Հօրմէն ու Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսէն։ Օրհնեալ ըլլայ Աստուած՝ մեր Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսին Հայրը՝ գթութեան Հայրը եւ ամէն մխիթարութեան Աստուածը. Որ մեզ կը մխիթարէ մեր բոլոր նեղութիւններուն մէջ, որպէս զի մենք կարող ըլլանք մխիթարել զանոնք՝ որ ամէն տեսակ նեղութիւններու մէջ են, այն մխիթարութիւնովը որով մենք Աստուծմէ կը մխիթարուինք. Քանզի ինչպէս Քրիստոսին չարչարանքները մեր վրայ շատ եղան, նմանապէս Քրիստոսին ձեռքովը մեր մխիթարութիւնն ալ շատ ըլլայ։ Եթէ նեղութիւն քաշենք՝ ձեր մխիթարութեանը ու փրկութեանը համար է եւ եթէ մխիթարուինք՝ ձեր մխիթարութեանը ու փրկութեանը համար է, որ կը տոկաք համբերելով այն չարչարանքներուն՝ որոնցմով մենք ալ կը չարչարուինք։ Մեր յոյսը հաստատուն է ձեզի համար, վասն զի գիտենք թէ ինչպէս մեր չարչարանքներուն հաղորդակից եղաք, նոյնպէս ալ մխիթարութեանը պիտի ըլլաք։ Վասն զի Ասիոյ մէջ մեզի պատահած նեղութիւնները չեմ ուզեր ձեզի իմացնել, եղբա՛յրներ, թէ մեր կարողութենէն շատ աւելի ծանրաբեռնւեցանք, նոյնիսկ յոյսերնիս կտրեցինք ապրելէ։ Բայց մահուան վճիռը մեր վրայ զգացինք, որպէս զի մենք մեզի չապաւինինք, հապա Աստուծոյ՝ որ մեռելները կը յարուցանէ. Որ այնպիսի մեծ մահուանէ մեզ փրկեց ու կը փրկէ Ու կը յուսանք թէ տակաւին պիտի փրկէ, մեզի համար ձեր ըրած աղօթքին օգնութեամբը. որպէս զի շատերուն աղօթքին պատճառաւ մեզի եղած շնորհքին համար՝ շատերէն գոհութիւն տրուի մեզի համար։

ՄԱՐԿՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 4:35-40 Նոյն օրը երբ իրիկուն եղաւ, ըսաւ աշակերտներուն. «Եկէք ծովուն անդիի կողմը անցնինք»։ Անոնք ալ ժողովուրդը արձակելով՝ առին զինք, որ արդէն նաւուն մէջ էր. եւ ուրիշ նաւակներ ալ կային անոր հետ։ Մեծ փոթորիկ մը ելաւ եւ ալիք-ները նաւուն վրայ կու գային, այնպէս որ գրեթէ նաւը կը լեցուէր։ Ինք նաւուն ետեւի կողմը բարձի վրայ կը քնանար. արթնցուցին զանիկա եւ ըսին անոր. «Վա՛րդապետ, հոգդ չէ՞ որ կը կորսուինք»։ Ու ելլելով՝ սաստեց հովին եւ ծովուն ըսաւ. «Դադարէ՛, լո՛ւռ կեցիր»։ Հովը դադարեցաւ եւ մեծ խաղաղութիւն եղաւ։ Ըսաւ անոնց. «Ինչո՞ւ այդպէս վախկոտ էք, ի՞նչպէս կ’ըլլայ որ հաւատք չունիք»։

2 CORINTHIANS 1.1-11 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all his holy people throughout Achaia: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in your patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, aabout the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the 4

dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace. For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that, as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.

MARK 4:35-40 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”.

Առաքելական եկեղեցին կը տօնէ Գիւտ Գօտւոյ Սուրբ Աստուածածնի: Աւանդութեան համաձայն՝ այդ գօտին Տիրամայրը տուած է Թովմաս առաքեալին եւ Քրիստոնէութեան նախնական շըրջանին այս սրբութիւնը հաւատացեալները մեծ երկիւղածութեամբ կը պահէին եւ անոր հետ կապուած էին բազում հրաշքներ: 5-րդ դարու սկիզբը, Արկադէոս կայսեր օրով (395408) Երուսաղէմի մէջ Աստուածածնի պատկանած Գօտին երեւան եկաւ եւ հանդիսաւոր կերպով Կ. Պոլիս բերուեցաւ եւ հոն Ս. Աստուածածին եկեղեցւոյ մէջ պատիւով պահուեցաւ եւ բարեպաշտական առարկայ դարձաւ: Ժամանակի ընթացքին, Ս. Կոյսի գօտին Կոստանդնուպոլիսէն տարուեցաւ Կապադովկիա, բայց Հուստիանոս կայսեր օրով կրկին տեղափոխուեցաւ Կոստանդնուպոլիս:Աստուածամօր գօտիի հետ կապուած բազում հրաշքներէն է Յունաց Զոյա կայսրուհիին բժշկութիւնը: Կայսրուհին երկար տարիներ ծանր հիւանդ էր ու անոր երազին մէջ կը յայտնուի, թէ ինք կը բժշկուի, երբ Աստուածամօր գօտին անոր ուսին դրուի: Բժշկուելէն ետք, Կայսրուհին Տիրամօր գօտին 7

ոսկեայ թելով զարդակարեց ու զայն հանդիսութեամբ տեղադրուեցաւ տապանակին մէջ: Հետագային Ս. Աստուածածնի գօտիէն կտորներ բաժնուեցան տարբեր եկեղեցիներ: Հայ եկեղեցւոյ տօնացոյցի մէջ այս տօնը հաստատ կերպով դրուեցաւ 1774թ-ին, Սիմէոն Երեւանցի Կաթողիկոսի հրատարակած բարեփոխեալ տօնացոյցին մէջ: Աստուածածնի Գօտիին գտնուելուն տօնը Հայ եկեղեցին կը նշէ Աստուածածնայ Վերափոխման տօնին յաջորդող երկրորդ Կիրակի օրը: Տoնը շարժական է, որ 7 օրերու շարժականութեամբ Օգոստոս 26-էն Սեպտեմբեր 1-ը կրնայ հանդիպիլ:

DISCOVERY OF THE BELT OF THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD This Sunday August 29, the Armenian church is celebrating The Feast of Discovery of St. Mary’s Belt. It is believed that the Belt was originally made by St. Mary herself and was given to Apostle Thomas.The Holy Mother of God was assumed to heaven by her Divine Son and there are no relics of her earthly body. Therefore, her personal belongings became articles of devotion: her Belt and her Box. Her Belt or girdle, was discovered in Jerusalem in the fifth century during the reign of Emperor Arcadius, which was later moved to Constantinople and placed in the Cathedral dedicated to the Holy Mother of God. According to tradition, after Empress Zoe (the wife of Emperor Leo VI the Wise) was healed by the power of the Belt, she embroidered it with gold thread. Before 18th century the celebration of the Discovery of the Belt of the Holy Mother of God was considered a voluntary practice. It was established into the Calendar of Feasts (Տօնացոյց) of the Armenian Church during the revisions made by Catholicos Simeon Yerevantzi (Catholicos 1763-1780). The Feast of the Discovery of St. Mary’s Belt is celebrated on the second Sunday following the Feast of Assumption, which falls somewhere from August 26 to September 1.

ՆԻԿԻՈՅ ԱՌԱՋԻՆՏԻԵԶԵՐԱԿԱՆԺՈՂՈՎԻ 318 ՀԱՅՐԱՊԵՏՆԵՐՈՒ ՅԻՇԱՏԱԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ՕՐ Քրիստոնէական Եկեղեցւոյ նախնական շրջաններուն կարգ մը մոլորեցուցիչ «վարդապետութիւններ» յառաջ եկան, որոցմէ IV դարուն տարածուեցաւ արիոսականութիւնը, որ հիմնուած էր Յիսուսի անձի նկատմամբ Արիոս Աղեքսանդրիացիի տեսակէտին վրայ: Արիոսի համաձայն՝ Յիսուս Աստուծորդին Հայր Աստուծոյ բնոյթէն չէ. այսինքն՝ Որդին Աստուած չէ, այլ՝ բարձրագոյն արարած մը, որուն Հայր Աստուած ստեղծած էր աշխարհի ստեղծումէն առաջ: Արիոսի այս տեսակէտը սկսաւ տարածուիլ եւ վէճերն ու հակառակութիւնը ե-կեղեցիներու միջեւ սաստկացաւ: Կոստանդիանոս կայսրը կարգադրեց, որ արիոսականութեան խընդիրը ժողովի մը մէջ լուծուի եւ 325 թուին բոլոր քրիստոնեայ աշխարհի եպիսկոպոսները հրաւիրեց Նիկիա քաղաքը, ընդհանուր ժողովի: Տիեզերական այս առաջին ժողովին ներկայ էին ընդհանրական եկեղեցւոյ 318 հայրապետներ: Կոստանդիանոս կայսրը Հայոց Տրդատ թագաւորին ալ Հրովարտակ ուղղարկեց, որպէսզի Ս. Գրիգոր Լուսաւորիչի հետ մասնակցին այդ ժողովին: Սակայն հանգամանքներու բերումով, Ս. Գրիգոր Լուսաւորիչ եւ Տրդատ թագաւորը չի կարողացան երթալ ժողովի, ու որպէս հայ եկեղեցւոյ ներկայացուցիչ Նիկիոյ ժողովի ղրկեցին իրենց փոխանորդը, Լուսաւորիչի որդի Արիստակէսը: 9

Ժողովը դատապարտեց Արիոսի ուսմունքը՝ այն համարելով հերոտիկոսութիւն, եւ Արիոսը արտաքսեցին Եկեղեցիէն: Այս ժողովը առիթ մը եղաւ որ բանաձեւուի Եկեղեցւոյ հիմնական դաւանանքը. Հաստատ-ուեցաւ «Նիկիոյ Հանգանակ»ը, մեզի ծանօթ որպէս «Հաւատամք» եւ ընդունուեցան եկեղեցական կեանքը կարգաւորող կանոններ՝ «Ս. Տիեզերական Ժողովի քսան կանոններ» անունով: Արիստակէս իր հետ Հայաստան բերաւ դաւանաբանական այդ գրութիւնը ու կանոնները: Ս. Գրիգոր Լուսաւորչի հրաւիրած եպիսկոպոսական ժողովի կողմէ այդ կանոնները ընդունուեցան եւ հիմքը ծառայեցին Հայոց Եկեղեցւոյ Ուղղափառ հաւատքին։ REMEMBERANCE DAY OF 318 FATHERS OF NICEAN COUNCIL In the early years of the Christian Church several misleading ideologies emerged that potentially led to divisions and disagrements within the Church. One of these ideologies that started spreading in IV century was the controversial view of Arius of Alexandria over the divine nature of the Son of God. According to Arius, Jesus Christ is not of the same essence as God the Father and he was created by Father. This view of Arius began to spread and disputes and opposition within the church escalated.

To settle these arising disputes, in 325 the Emperor Constantine called an Universal Assembly in the city of Nicea with the participation of 318 bishops representing all churches. The King of Armenia Terdat and St. Gregory the Illuminator were also invited to participate in this Council.

St. Gregory and King Terdat were not able to attend, and instead St. Gregory’s son Aristakes was sent as the representative of the Armenian church at the Council of Nicea. The Council condemned teachings of Arius declaring them as heretical and expelled him from Church. This Council also realized the importance of formulating the doctrine of the true Orthodox belief which became the "Nicean Creed" or "Havadamk" as well as twenty regulatory rules for church life known as canons.

Aristakes brought the ‘Nicean Creed’ and the regulatory canons to Armenia. St Gregory the Illuminator invited an Episcopal Assembly, which adopted the ‘Havadamk’ and the regulatory canons and they served as the foundation of the faith for the Armenian Orthodox Church.

To take home one of these beautiful prayer boxes, we ask for a minimum $20 per box donation, proceeds of which will be allocated to the operating expenses of the Holy Trinity Armenian Church. A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for amounts donated in excess of $20 per box.
