Քան թէ հաշտութեան մի ճար գտնելու: Եւ որպէսզի հանդերձեալում պատրաստուող տանջանքները Չերեւան ինձ անընտել դէպքեր, անսովոր պատահարներ եւ անօրինակ հանդիպումներ,Ընդմիշտ անմոռաց պահեց իմ մարմնում, այստեղից իսկ, Նախկին անէծքներից մնացած հազիւ նկատելի հետքերը, Որպէսզի փոքր ու չնչին տարրերից մեծին սովորենք: Բ Որովայնի մէջ են առաջանում ինքնաբերաբար ու բազմանում Շարժուն ու պէս-պէս ճապուկ ճճիներ, Աղիքների գաղտնակուր որդեր, այրող այտուցներ, Բշտիկներ բազում բոցի պէս կիզող Եւ անկերպարան, անձեւ անիծներ, Եւ այլ քրտնածին ու զազրաթորմի` Կսկիծ, եռ ու քոր պատճառող անիծ, ե՛ւ լու, ե՛ւ ոջիլ, Ու վայրենական այլ ասպատակներ, Որոնք գիշերամարտ դեւերի եւ խաւարասէր, զինուած բարբարոս գնդերի նման, Եւ արաբական քանասար գայլերի գազանութեամբ, Կորակոր ընթացքով, արջնաթոյր գոյնով, Կրկնոլոր ու կեռ կտուցով` կարճի խայթոցի նման, Խոցելով, ինչպէս դժնիկ փշով` ծծում են, քաշում արիւնը մեր թաց Եւ հանգստարան անկողնում չարչարում են մեզ: Եւ երբ մէկը իր ձեռքը երկարի նրանց` արժանի պատիժը տալու, Զգում են իսկոյն մարդուն պատճառած վնասը իրենց Եւ իսկոյն եւեթ, լերկամարմին ու փոքրիկ հասակով Թռչում են, կարծես թէ թեւեր առած, Եւ մարախի պէս ոստոստելով` այս ու այն կողմ ընկնում, 3

Աղուէսների նենգ ու խաբեպատիր բարքի համաձայն Փախուստ են տալիս ամէն ուղղութեամբ խորամանկելով Մտնում ծակուծուկ, մահուան երկիւղից փրկուելու համար: Եւ իրենց չնչին չքոտի տեղով ոչ միայն ռամիկների ու խառնիճաղանջների, Այլեւ ահագին հզօր թագաւորների կփախցնեն նրանք, Կհանեն վերը` դստիկոնը բարձր ապարանքների Եւ կամ բացօթեայ կբնակեցնեն: Շատ քաջեր անգամ, որոնք իշխեցին ամբոխների վրայ Եւ ժողովուրդների տիրեցին, եւ ազգերի քաղաքներ առան, Խոստովանում են պարտութիւնն իրենց զօրեղ ձեռքերի, Թէ` "Որովհետեւ չկարողացանք մեզանից հզօրների բռնութեանը դիմադրել, Այդ պատճառով էլ խոյս տուինք ահա եւ հասանք այստեղ: Գ Բայց ինչո՞ւ եմ ես խօսում այդ չնչին, աննշա՜ն այնպէս ու ծիծաղելի գոյութեանց մասին, Նրա համար, որ նրանք զօրաւոր եւ անհերքելի ջատագովներ են աստուածութեան Եւ հանդերձեալներն են յիշեցնում ինձ, Որոնք անօրէն իմ մարմնի մէջ ծնւում են իբրեւ դառն պտուղներ: Դրանց նման են եւ դրսից եկող ախտերն սպանիչ Եւ ուտիչների կոյտերն անողոք, որոնցից անհնար է ազատուել, Որոնց մեր մարմնին պատճառած ահարկու ցաւերով Կարողանում ենք գալիք տանջանքներն իմաստասիրել: Եւ կարելի չէ գտնել որեւէ ապաստանարան, Որ կարողանանք խոյս տալ նրանցից եւ ազատ մնալ. Զի առանց կամքիդ եւ ակնարկութեանդ Ի չիք են անցել մարդկային բոլոր ճար ու հնարանք: 4

Իսկ դու, բարերա՛ր, կեանքի ամէն դեղ ու դարմանն ունես բաւականապէս, Եթէ կամենաս փրկել, նորոգել, քաւել, բժշկել եւ կենագործել: Եւ քեզ փա՜ռք յամենայնի յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. ամէն: ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Խաղաղութի՛ւն մեր եւ Կեանք, որ Հօրմէ առաքուեցար, Միածի՛ն Որդի Աստուծոյ, Տէ՛ր մեր եւ Փրկիչ, Յիսո՛ւս Քրիստոս, տո՛ւր մեզի Քու խաղաղութիւնդ, որ շնորհեցիր Քու սուրբ առաքեալներուդ՝ փչելով անոնց վրայ Քու Կենդանացուցիչ եւ Ամենազոր Սուրբ Հոգիդ, որպէսզի մենք ալ խաղաղելով ամէն տեսակի աշխարհային սայթաքումներէն, Աստուածային շնորհքներուդ տաճար եւ բնակարան ըլլանք եւ գոհանալով փառաւորենք Քեզ Հօր եւ Սուրբ Հոգիիդ հետ, Քրիստո՛ս Աստւած մեր, այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. Ամէն: ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆ ԸՍՏ ՄԱՏԹԷՈՍԻ 11: 25-30 Այդ ատեն Յիսուս ըսաւ. «Կը ներբողեմ քեզ, ո՛վ Հայր, Տէր երկինքի ու երկրի, որ այս բաները ծածկեցիր իմաստուններէն եւ խելացիներէն, ու յայտնեցիր երախաներո՛ւն: Այո՛, Հա՛յր, որովհետեւ ա՛յսպէս հաճելի եղաւ քու առջեւդ: Ամէն բան յանձնըւեցաւ ինծի իմ Հօրմէս, եւ ո՛չ մէկը կը ճանչնայ Որդին՝ բայց միայն Հայրը, ու ո՛չ մէկը կը ճանչնայ Հայրը՝ բայց միայն Որդին, եւ ա՛ն՝ որուն Որդին փափաքի յայտնել: Եկէ՛ք ինծի, դուք բոլորդ որ կը յոգնիք ու բեռնաւորուած էք, եւ ես պիտի հանգստացնեմ ձեզ: Առէ՛ք իմ լուծս ձեր վրայ ու սորվեցէ՛ք ինձմէ՝ որ հեզ եմ եւ սիրտով խոնարհ, ու հանգըստութիւն պիտի գտնէք ձեր անձերուն. որովհետեւ իմ լուծս հեշտ է, եւ իմ բեռս՝ թեթեւ»: 5

ԲԺՇԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Փարատէ՛ ցաւերը եւ բժշկէ՛ հիւանդութիւնները քու ժողովուրդէդ, Տէր Աստուած մեր եւ բոլորին կատարեալ առողջութի՛ւն շնորհէ` Քու ամենայաղթ խաչիդ նշանով, որուն միջոցով մարդկութեան տկարութիւնը վերցուցիր եւ դատապարտեցիր մեր կեանքի եւ փրկութեան թշնամին: Դուն ես մեր կեանքն ու փրկութիւնը, բարերար եւ բազումողորմ Աստուած. միայն Դո՛ւ կրնաս ներել մեր մեղքերը եւ մեզմէ հեռացնել ախտերն ու հիւանդութիւնները. Քեզի յայտնի են մեր կարիքները: Բարիքներ պարգեւող, առատ ողորմութիւնդ պարգեւէ՛ քու արարածներուդ՝ իւրաքանչիւրին ըստ իր պէտքին, որովհետեւ արարածներուդ միջոցով միշտ կը գովաբանուի Ամենասուրբ Երրորդութիւնդ. Այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. ամէն: ՔԱՐՈԶ Սուրբ Խաչով Տիրոջը աղաչենք, որպէսզի սրանով փրկէ մեզ մեղքերէն եւ Իր ողորմութեան շնորհով պահէ մեզ: Ամենակալ Տէր Աստուած մեր, ապրեցու՛ր եւ ողորմէ՛: ՊԱՀՊԱՆՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Պահպանիչ եւ հաւատացեալներու յոյս, Քրիստոս Աստուած մեր, պահէ պահպանէ եւ օրհնէ 6

Հայոց ազգը եւ Հայաստանեայց Եկեղեցին. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

READING: FROM MADYAN VOGHPERKOUTYAN (NAREG) Prayer 69 Speaking with God from the Depths of the Heart A And now, by your hand, great Lord and God, artist who with infinite ingenuity shaped my being in the crucible of your love where I am daily refined but never purified, continuously stirred but never smooth.

It is in vain, O silversmith, my heavenly architect, that you squander effort working on me.

As the prophet said in his well known parable, my wickedness does not melt away.

Because I am woefully misguided I dare speak out of turn like some pathetic, possessed maniac, increasing the burden of my sin 8

instead of finding a means of reconciliation.

And so that the punishment awaiting me in the next life does not come as a shock, extraordinary event, or unprecedented calamity, he planted as a reminder here in my body the token of that first curse, that through this small insignificant speck the larger illness might be examined.

B For in the womb are born and spontaneously multiply all manner of squirming worms, intestinal worms gnawing in secret, burning tumors, stinging ulcers, abnormal growths, and host of other sweaty, noisome, disgusting, annoying, itching conditions.

Plus other savage marauders, like demons attacking in the night, barbarous mercenaries from the legions of darkness, with the ferocity of Arabian wolves, stalking with their head curved down, their melancholy color, their crooked, hooked jaw, resembling that of a scorpion, piercing with crude thorns, sucking, drawing blood, to turn the bed of rest into an instrument of punishment.

And when one lifts one’s hand to give them their due, they sense the danger in advance that man poses and immediately take flight with their hairless bodies and dwarfed size, and hopping this way and that like grasshoppers they scatter, 9

and with the slyness of foxes conspire against the good, escaping through secret places, as if they have found deliverance from death.

And such vile and miserable beings, not only pursue the vulgar and motley mob, but also powerful and fearsome kings, driving them to the attic of their habitations, or even forcing them to live outside.

Courageous and brave men, who rule crowds and govern peoples and take cities of nations, have witnessed defeat at the hands of this virulent force, saying “We were not able to resist these tyrants, stronger than ourselves; therefore we took flight and reached this point.�

C And why have I discoursed about such miniscule and abject things worthy of ridicule?

Only because they are the most powerful and irrefutable advocates for the Divinity, reminding me of what awaits me in the next life, these bitter fruits of my unruly body.

And even so deadly diseases happen upon us and eat away relentlessly.

From these there is no riddance other than through physical pains which foretell the punishment that is to come.

And there is no place to seek refuge, to escape them by fleeing.

For without the signal of your will, human efforts and methods fail.

But you, who do good, hold in ample measure the life-giving cure for everything.

You have but to will it, in order to save, renew, pardon, cure and give life.

To you glory forever and ever.

Amen.

Lord have mercy Our peace and our life, who wast sent from the Father, onlybegotten Son of God, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, give us thy peace, which thou didst grant to thine holy apostles by breathing into them thy life- giving and all- powerful Holy Spirit, so that having found our peace from all worldly commotions we also may become a temple and an habitation of thy divine grace, and may give thee thanks and glorify thee together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, O Christ our God, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MAYYHEW: 11: 25-30 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

PRAYER FOR THE SICK Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Dispel the pain and heal the sickness of thy people, Lord our God and grant to all perfect health by the sign of thine all-conquering cross through which thou removed the weakness of mankind and condemned the enemy of our life and salvation. Thou art our life and salvation, beneficent and all merciful God, who alone can forgive us our sins and remove diseases and sickness from us, to whom are known our needs and necessities. Bestower of gifts, grant thy bounteous mercy to thy creatures according to their individual needs, through whom thy Holy Trinity is always glorified and praised, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

LITANY By the Holy Cross let us beseech the Lord, that through it he may deliver us from our sins and save us by the grace of his mercy.

Almighty Lord our God, save us and have mercy upon us.

PRAYER OF PRESERVATION Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Guardian and hope of the faithful Christ our God, guard, protect and bless Armenian Nation and Armenian Church, under the shadow of Thine holy and precious Cross in peace.

Deliver from enemies visible and invisible.

Make us worthy to give thanks to Thee and to glorify Thee with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
