Բ Մեղա՜յ ես Մեծիդ բարերարութեանն, անարգս` մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ ծագումիդ ճառագայթների, խաւարս մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ շնորհիդ երախտիքներին, արդարեւ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ երկնային գթառատ լոյսիդ, յայտնապէս մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ ոչնչից կեանք ստեղծողիդ, ստուգիւ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ գերագոյն գոգիդ գրգրալիր, անսահման մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ աննուազ լոյսիդ վայելմանն, նենգողս մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ ճաշակմանն անճառ քո կենաց, բիւր անգամ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ միշտ անհաս քո պարգեւներին, հանապազ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ քո գովեալ մարմնին Աստծոյ, մահու չափ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ արարչիդ պաշտելի արեանն, իսկապէս մեղա՜յ: Գ Ահա՛, արդարեւ, հատուածն այս խօսքի` "Մեղան" օրհնեալ է եւ յուսադրական, սրտերի համար: Աւանդ է նա պատուական, անմոռաց պատկեր, հայրենական տուրք, Նախահարց օրէնք, պաշար ընդհանրական, Անհերքելի խօսք, զօրաւոր պատասխան, Կենդանութեան կամուրջ` ախորժելի` վերնայնին, սիրելի` սրբոց, Անխզելի կապ, հրաշալի բարբառ, անժխտելի փաստ, Բաղձալի աղերս, փափագելի սեղան, անճարներին ճար, Կարծրութեան վանիչ, կարգ աստուածապաշտների, Հեթանոսաց գիրք, վաղնջական օրէնք, Քրիստոնեաներին հարազատ եւ յաղթող` արարչութեանն, Անջրպետ հզօր, ահաւոր խտրոց, Բարձրագոյն արուեստ, խորութիւն անչափ, հիահրաշ տեսիլ, Կնքուած խորհուրդ, որին չի կարող թափանցել ոչ ոք, Արագաթռիչ միտքը մինչեւ իսկ անընդունակ է ըմբռնելու այն: 3

Ձայն բարեպատեհ եւ հրաշալի, որը չլսուեց, Երբ դասը մերժուած ընդունում էր իր վճիռը վերջին. Գուցէ եւ այնժամ ետ առնուէր իսկոյն մահապարտութեան վճիռը արդար, Որով դատաստանն այլեւս անելիք չունենալով` Յաւիտենական սահմանը պիտի լուծուէր, վերանար: Մեծագոյն փառքի զարդն է այն, որով նոյնիսկ աստուածութիւնն ինքը կպսակուի պայծառօրէն: Դ Քանզի ո՞վ էր, որ վազելով` բռնեց եղջիւրներից այս սուրբ սեղանի Եւ ազատուելով իսկոյն պատժից` չմաքրուեց: Իսկ եթէ Աքար Քարմեանն ու Սաւուղ Կիսեանը եւ Սիմոնեան Հուդան "Մեղան" այս ասելով հանդերձ չարդարացան, Վկայում եմ եւ ես իրաւամբ, խոստովանելով, թէ արդարացի էր ճշմարտապէս: Զի նրանք, որ ակամայ եւ բռնադատեալ են այդ խօսքն արտասանում, Չունեն կատարեալ սէր, հետեւապէս` եւ փրկութիւն: Ե Իսկ ես կամովին եմ համբուրում, կրկնելով դարձեալ խօսքն այդ երջանիկ, որ մկրտութիւնս է հարազատ: Մեղա՜յ, որ մոռացայ երախտիքներդ, վերստին մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ, որ եղա ես յանձնապաստան, յիմարս մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ, որ կեանքիդ դրժողը եղա, իսկ եւ իսկ մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ, որ խօսքերդ արհամարհեցի, չարաչար մեղա՜յ: Մեղա՜յ, սատակման օրուան վազելուս, վատթարս մեղա՜յ. Մեղա՜յ պարտականս անկենդան մահուան, ծաղրելիս մեղա՜յ.

Մեղա՜յ անպատկառս` բարձրութեանդ հանդէպ, տաղտկալիս մեղա՜յ: Զ Դարձեալ ու վերջին անգամ աշխարանք իմ հոգու համար:Ես ինքս եղայ ինձ դէպի կորուստ-կործանում տանող, Զի անդարձ կերպով հեռացայ եւ որդիս` թշնամի համարուեցի, Ընկայ երկնքի բարձրութիւնից եւ վարքի փշեր դիզեցի: Եւս առաւել է սաստկանում ողբերիս աղաղակն ահա,Զի ես ինքս անձամբ անարգեցի Ու դարձըրի ինձ կորուսիչ բագին: Ունեմ ես նաեւ մի այլ դժնդակ կսկիծ իմ սրտում.Ուրիշները ինձ համարում են այն, ինչ որ չեմ երբէք: Արտաքնայարդար բաժակս անմաքուր, Ծեփուած որմս գարշելի, Սին պարծանքներով պաճուճեալս, լոյսս` մռայլի փոխուած, Գերանակիր աչք թշուառ, փառքի շիջած ջահ. Յանցապարտ իրօք եւ վնասակար ամէն ինչի մէջ ըստ ամենայնի, Հանդէպ տէրունեան տնօրինութեանց եւ աստուածային յայտնութիւնների, Եւ արարչագիր երեւումների եւ խոնարհութեանց հանդէպ սոսկալի, Եւ նրա հանդէպ, որին ես իմ իսկ աչքերով տեսայ, Եւ որի համար ես աւելի եմ պատասխանատու, քան թէ համօրէն Աւետարանի: Եւ այդ է, որ ինձ պատճառում է զարմանք եւ հիացում, Հոգսեր մաշողական եւ տարակոյսներ անկարելի, Հաշիւներ` մտքում անզետեղելի, Ելքեր անկատար, էջքեր անհաստատ, յուսալքումներ, Հանդիմանութիւններ տեղին ու ծաղրուծանակ, Նզովքներ իրաւացի եւ անէծքներ արժանահատոյց: 5

Սրանք են ահա կշտամբութիւնները մեղաւորիս Եւ ինքնահարուած տանջանքները իմ: Է Միայն դո՛ւ կարող ես յանցանքներս ներել Եւ բուժել մահացու խայթուածներն ամէն, Տէ՜ր ողորմութեանց, Աստուա՛ծ բոլորի, Քրիստոս թագաւոր բարձրեալ Հօր որդի, Ստեղծիչ, գթած, բարերար, օրհնեալ առատաձեռն, հարուստ, Ահաւոր, հզօր ողորմած տեսուչ, ձեռնկալ հաստիչ, Ապրեցնող, դարմանող, փրկող, Երկայնամիտ, անոխակալ, ապաւեն, Բժիշկ գովեալ երկնաւոր, անճառ լոյս ու կեանք, Հարութիւն, նորոգութիւն եւ քաջութիւն, Ը Եթէ համաձայն քո սովորութեան` մարդասիրութեամբ նայես ինձ վրայ, Ես էլ նայելով քեզ` դառնապէս կողբամ. Եթէ լսես ինձ` կհառաչեմ. Եթէ ականջ դնես` կպաղատեմ. Եթէ ներես ինձ` կաղաչեմ. Եթէ դառնաս դէպի ինձ` կգոչեմ. Իսկ եթէ անտես առնես` կկործանուեմ. Եթէ ոտնահարես` կուլամ. Եթէ հոգեպահիկ չընծայես` կմեռնեմ. Ապայ եթէ ահարկու դէմք ցոյց տաս` կսատակեմ. Իսկ եթէ սաստես` կդողամ. Եթէ խեթ աչքով նայես` կսոսկամ. Եթէ բարկանաս սաստիկ` կսարսափեմ. Եթէ հալածես` կհեծեմ. Իսկ եթէ ընդվայր զարկես ինձ` կոչնչանամ.

Եթէ վհատ ողբերս չդադարեցնես` կտագնապեմ. Եթէ խստանաս` կփախչեմ. Ապայ եթէ սպառնաս` կընկճուեմ. Իսկ եթէ քննես` կքարկոծուեմ. Եթէ ուժգնակի ակնարկես` կսուզուեմ. Եթէ չխնայես` կմերժուեմ. Եթէ կանչես` կկասկածեմ. Իսկ եթէ աչքդ յառես վրաս` կամաչեմ. Եթէ ձայն տաս` կերկնչեմ: Զի անարգել եմ ես պարգեւները բարի, Երանութիւնը թողել, շնորհը լքել եւ ուխտը դրժել, Կենաց աւանդը մոռացել, Համարձակութիւնն ու վստահութիւնը կորցրել, Արարածների ստեղծողիդ բարկացրել, Անճառելի շնորհն եմ ընդոտնել Եւ պատուական պատկերն այլայլել: Թ Իսկ եթէ խեղդող հեծութեանս այս իմ ու ցաւերիս մէջ Մարդասիրութիւն հասցնես դու ինձ, Տէ՜ր Յիսուս Քրիստոս, Վրաս ի կատար ածելով խօսքն այն, Թէ` "Բժշկութիւնը դադարեցնում է մեծամեծ մեղքերն",Ապայ ես այնժամ քո առատագոյն մարդասիրութեամբ պատուաստուելով քո մէջ Եւ նկարելով լուսեղէն պատկերդ խորքը իմ հոգու, Նորից գտնուած` կգոտեպնդուեմ քաւուած լիովին Ու փրկուելով` կրկին կստեղծուեմ յաւիտենական անարատ կեանքով. Եւ քեզ Հօրդ հետ եւ սուրբ Հոգուդ փա՜ռք յաւիտեան. ամէն: ... ... փա՜ռք յաւիտեան. ամէն:

ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Գիշեր եւ ցերեկ եւ ամէն ժամ կ՚աղաչենք Քեզի եւ կը խնդրենք Քեզմէ, Մարդասէ՛ր Տէր, լսէ՛ մեզի, Աստուա՛ծ Փրկիչ մեր, թող խոնարհի Քու ունկդ մեր խնդրանքներուն, որպէսզի ունայն չըլլայ Քու ծառաներուդ վաստակը, այլ մեր աշխատանքները արդարութեան գործ եւ Աստուածպաշտութեան պտուղ համարէ՛: Ընդունի՛ր, Տէ՛ր, մեր աղօթքներն ու երկրպագութիւններըեւ առատապէս հատուցէ՛ մեզի Քու ողորմածութեամբդ, պահէ՛ մեզ Քու Ամենազօր Աջիդ հովանիին ներքեւ, զօրացո՛ւր մեզի, Տէ՛ր, Սուրբ Հոգւոյդ զօրութեամբ, պահէ՛ մեզ՝ իբրեւ աչքի բիբ, եւ մեզի համար բարի նշան ըրէ՛՝ ի գովեստ եւ ի փառաբանութիւն Քու Սուրբ Անուան: Որովհետեւ Քու փառքիդ համար է, որ բոլոր արարածներու կողմէ մշտնջենավոր փառաբանութիւն ի բարձունս կ՚ուղղուի՝ Հօր, Որդիին եւ Սուրբ Հոգիին այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. Ամէն: ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆ ԸՍՏ ՄԱՏԹԷՈՍԻ 12: 9- 14 Մեկնելով անկէ՝ եկաւ անոնց ժողովարանը: Հոն մարդ մը կար, որուն ձեռքը չորցած էր: Ամբաստանելու համար զինք՝ հարցուցին անոր. «Արտօնուա՞ծ է բուժել Շաբաթ օրը»: Ան ալ ըսաւ անոնց. «Ձեզմէ ո՞վ է այն մարդը, որ եթէ ոչխար մը ունենայ եւ ան փոսի մէջ իյնայ Շաբաթ օրը, չի բռներ ու վեր չի հաներ զայն: Հետեւաբար մարդը ո՜րչափ աւելի կ՚արժէ ոչխարէն: Ուրեմն արտօնուած է բարիք գործել Շաբաթ օրը»: Այն ատեն ըսաւ այդ մարդուն. «Երկարէ՛ ձեռքդ»: Ան ալ երկարեց, եւ առողջացաւ միւսին պէս: Իսկ Փարիսեցիները դուրս ելլելով՝ խորհրդակցեցան անոր դէմ թէ ի՛նչպէս կորսնցնեն զայն:

ԲԺՇԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Փարատէ՛ ցաւերը եւ բժշկէ՛ հիւանդութիւնները քու ժողովուրդէդ, Տէր Աստուած մեր եւ բոլորին կատարեալ առողջութի՛ւն շնորհէ` Քու ամենայաղթ խաչիդ նշանով, որուն միջոցով մարդկութեան տկարութիւնը վերցուցիր եւ դատապարտեցիր մեր կեանքի եւ փրկութեան թշնամին: Դուն ես մեր կեանքն ու փրկութիւնը, բարերար եւ բազումողորմ Աստուած. միայն Դո՛ւ կրնաս ներել մեր մեղքերը եւ մեզմէ հեռացնել ախտերն ու հիւանդութիւնները. Քեզի յայտնի են մեր կարիքները: Բարիքներ պարգեւող, առատ ողորմութիւնդ պարգեւէ՛ քու արարածներուդ՝ իւրաքանչիւրին ըստ իր պէտքին, որովհետեւ արարածներուդ միջոցով միշտ կը գովաբանուի Ամենասուրբ Երրորդութիւնդ. Այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. ամէն: ՔԱՐՈԶ Սուրբ Խաչով Տիրոջը աղաչենք, որպէսզի սրանով փրկէ մեզ մեղքերէն եւ Իր ողորմութեան շնորհով պահէ մեզ: Ամենակալ Տէր Աստուած մեր, ապրեցու՛ր եւ ողորմէ՛:

Քրիստոս Աստուած մեր, պահէ պահպանէ եւ օրհնէ Հայոց ազգը եւ Հայաստանեայց Եկեղեցին. LORD’S PRAYER Blessed be our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory unto the ages of ages.

READING: FROM MADYAN VOGHPERKOUTYAN (NAREG) Prayer 27 Speaking with God from the Depths of the Heart A As I adapted the earlier chapters to the wordy creations offered up in my lamenting voice, wailing and sobbing, shrieking cries, weeping sighs of anguish, again I begin my prayers with confession and contrition, revealing my dark secrets.

And I shall place here, at the beginning and end of each sentence the same words, echoing each other to form a single supplication of similar litanies for soul-saving humility.

B I have sinned against your beneficence, disrespectful sinner that I am.

I have sinned against the rays of your dawn, dark sinner that I am.

I have sinned against the boundless benefits of your grace, verily I have sinned.

I have sinned against the exalted mercy of love, brazenly I have sinned.

I have sinned against the creator ex nihilo, truly I have sinned.

I have sinned against the tenderness of your almighty embrace, unworthy sinner that I am.

I have sinned against the enlightenment of your undiminishing light, deceitful sinner that I am.

I have sinned against the eating of your ineffable life, many times I have sinned.

I have sinned against the talents of your incomprehensible gifts, at all times I have sinned.

I have sinned against the praiseworthy body of God, mortally I have sinned.

I have sinned against your worshipful blood, our creator, truly I have sinned.

C Indeed this “I have sinned� is a blessed phrase in this prayer for the heart set on hope, It has an honorable lineage, an unforgettable image, paternal tribute, law of our forefathers, our common inheritance, 12

irrefutable argument, forceful response, bridge of life, pleasing to Heaven, beloved of the saints, unseverable tie, magical words, inescapable logic, earnest request, inviting altar, heart-rending cry, hope for the hopeless, shield against hardship, charter for the faithful, letter to the pagans, rule of the ancients, birthright of Christians, victorious creative force, mighty abyss, terrifying separation, transcending art, incomprehensible depth, dazzling vision, sealed mystery that cannot be unlocked, beyond the grasp of the quickest mind.

A fitting, miraculous sound, which was not uttered by the outcast sinners, for if it had been, perhaps at that very moment, the just death sentence and culling of the flock no longer being applicable, the eternal barrier would have been torn down.

This word is an ornament of crowning glory, by which the Godhead himself spreads his magnanimity among us.

D For who, having sought refuge by holding the horn of the holy altar, did not instantly escape punishment, being found pure?

Or as Achan, son of Carmi, King Saul, and Judas, were not absolved, merely by saying “I sinned�?

This, I affirm, with God as my witness, was just and fair, for forced confession is not performed with loving contrition and therefore cannot bring salvation.

E But I again embrace this happy word, repeating it willingly like a kind of baptism: I have sinned by forgetting your favor, again I have sinned.

I have sinned by slaying my soul with my hands of flesh, senselessly I have sinned.

I have sinned by betraying the life you gave, verily I have sinned.

I have sinned by ignoring your word, basely I have sinned.

I have sinned by hastening the day of my death myself, destructively I have sinned.

I have sinned by mortgaging myself to lifeless death, mockingly I have sinned.

I have sinned by my impudence before your greatness, annoyingly I have sinned.

F Yet again I cry out my soul’s ultimate lament.

For its loss and destruction came about by my own hand, I strayed beyond return and though treated as a son, I turned hostile.

I stumbled from the heights of heaven and only gathered thorns of life.

Moreover, I cry out, for I defiled myself and turned myself into an altar to the Destroyer.

There is also another ache in my heart, for they consider me to be something I am not.

Like an outwardly sparkling cup, that is really dirty, or a whitewashed wall, that is filthy, 14

or a showoff dressed in vain conceit, that is really a light engulfed in gloom, a miserable eye blinded not by a speck, but a stick, or an extinguished torch of glory, destructive in all things, in all places, in all ways, toward the providence of the Lord, toward the manifestations of Godliness, toward the images shaped by the creator, toward the fearfulness of humility, toward the one, whom I saw with my own eyes, toward this, for which I am more accountable than for the entire Gospel.

Amazement, shock, gnawing cares, those infeasible intentions and calculations beyond the mind’s ken, failed escapes, faulty landings, deserved disappointments, fair reprimand, appropriate ridicule, just denunciation, well-deserved curses – such are the accusations and self-inflicted torments of my sinful self.

G And since you are able to forgive all these transgressions and cure these deadly wounds, Lord of mercies, God of all Christ King, Son of the exalted Father, creator, compassionate, beneficent, blessed, generous, bountiful, awesome, mighty, merciful, guardian, rescuer, bulwark, savior, reviver, resusciator, long-suffering, unvengeful, refuge, 15

physician, praised, heavenly, ineffable, light, life, resurrection, renewal, atonement.

H If you would look upon me with that goodwill toward mankind as you do, then as I contemplate you, I will cry out in anguish.

If you would listen, I will sigh.

If you would incline your ear, I will whisper a prayer.

If you would take note, I will beseech you.

If you would forgive, I will ask forgiveness.

If you would turn toward me, I will call.

For if you turn away, I will be ruined.

And if you kick me away, I will cry.

If you do not protect my soul, I shall die.

If you show me your terrible countenance, I will perish.

And if you scold me, I will tremble.

If you glare at me, I will shake.

If you are stern, I cringe.

If you drive me away, I whimper.

If you knock me down, I will shatter.

If you do not put out the flames of despair, I agonize.

If you despise me, I will flee.

If you threaten me, I will collapse.

If you examine me, I will be stoned.

If you look hard at me, I will sink.

If you do not spare me, I will be rejected.

If you summon me, I will be paranoid.

If you stare at me, I will be shamed.

If you call me, I will fear.

For I have betrayed the gift of goodness, forsaken bliss, abandoned grace, disavowed my word, 16

forgotten the gift of life, lost boldness and confidence, angered the creator of my being, trampled that grace beyond words, deformed the image of honor.

I But if you, Lord Jesus, reach out to me in loving-kindness as I suffocate with sighs of pain, then, as the Scriptures promised, “Your cure will cleanse away the greatest sins.�

And through your boundless kindness I will be joined to you, with your image of light re-imprinted upon my soul.

GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW: 12: 9- 14 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

PRAYER FOR THE SICK Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Look, beneficent Lord, with mercy upon us, who worship and glorify your holy name. Lord of hosts, grant peace to our souls from all the provocations of Satan and the distractions of the world. Send your angel of peace to us, that he may keep us safe by day and by night, awake and asleep, so that we may piously and worthily serve you Lord in this life and arrive at your heavenly eternal kingdom, which you have prepared from the beginning of the world for your saints. And may we glorify the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with them, giving thanks, now and always and unto the ages of ages.
