LeCorbusier Modulor
Charles-Edouard Jeanneret also known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss-French architect and became one of the pioneers for what we know now today as modern architecture. Le Corbusier’s modular man was meant to be a universal system of proportion. We studied the idea of his proportions and designed simple furniture from the modular man.

Calatrava’s City of Arts and Science
The Calatrava City of Arts and Science is a magnificent architectural design brought to life by Santiago Calatrava. The city serves as a recreation center for science and culture. It was built upon the river of Turia, between the city of Valencia and the district of Nazaret.
This city was made to bring life back to the neglected city of Valencia. Not only did the buildings bring in modernness to Valencia it also respected the surrounding traditions. For instance, the buildings captured this idea by being painted blue and white.
Calatrava’s City of Arts and Science has five buildings that make it whole, the first being Palau de Les Artes Reina Sofia which is the main building that looks like a dome of sorts. Next is the L’Umbracle (The Shade) located on the southern part of the complex used as a parking garage. Then we have the center of this whole masterpiece, which is L’Hemisferic, it is shaped like an eyeball, and it houses the technological and educational rooms. Right beside L’Hemisferic is the Science Museum Prince Felipe which of course serves as the science museum and looks like an animal of sorts. Lastly, the opera house also known as the Palacio de las Artes, this structure definitely can be described as having not just symmetry but also rhythm because of each piece is a replica of the one before and after it is causing a very pleasing sight. All together though the City of Arts and Sciences will provide and open space by also joining the cultural axis linearity of Valencia.
