PREChoosing a Pre-Primer pRI meRs

are an interesting hybrid. In a firstlanguage context each letter and its sound becomes the beginning of a process of decoding.

In a second language acqisition, where one doesn’t encounter vocabulary, one only learns the name, sound, and perhaps the alphabet position of each letter.

Our pre-primers introduce a vocabulary of Jewish living (etrog, lulav, bimah) as oral language that connects to the acquisition of letters.

That is why we teach  bimah when we learn  Bet. Classically preprimers have two goals: (a) the recognition and ability to name each letter, and (b) the ability to know and reproduce the sound made by each letter. We add a third goal, the building of a Jewish and Hebrew vocabulary to enable reading success.

How many prePrimers does one need? That is totally up to you. Making the choice of when and where to use a preprimer depends on when your students use a primer, your teachers’ comfort with teaching Hebrew and how much beyond letter recognition and vocabulary building you want to go.

A pRI meR is a book that uses whatever knowledge a student has of individual letters, their names, and their sounds, and transforms them into the skill of blending vowel and letter combinations and then sounding out words. The primer is the book that teaches “mechanical reading” or “decoding.”

Primers have the simple goals of: • Knowing the sound of each Hebrew consonant and vowel.

• Being able to blend consonant and vowel combinations.

• Having a sense of the syllabification of Hebrew words.

• Being able to sound out Hebrew words.

Ordering Instructions credit card; those electronic orders charged to a Torah Aura account will be credited to that account.

You may place your order via telephone, fax, mail, or e-mail.

We are available by telephone Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (PST). Credit is issued to institutions only. MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express or prepayments are accepted for non-institutional accounts.

All orders shipped to institutions or individuals in California are subject to, and will be charged, the applicable sales tax.

Shipping Information Orders will generally be shipped within one to two business days of receipt. Allow five to eight days for surface delivery.

Shipping charges are billed at actual freight charge. There is a minimum shipping charge of $5.50 Packages will be shipped ground by our choice of carrier.

You may request that rush orders be shipped via Next Day Delivery, Second Day Air, or Third Day Air. You will be billed for the amount of the expedited shipping charges. We will make every effort to ship your rush package within one business day of receipt of your order. Rush orders for Next Day or Second Day delivery must be placed before 10:30 A.M. (PST).

Items sent via the postal system are not insured; the buyer assumes full responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged materials shipped via the postal service.

Via telephone Orders over the phone can be made to the direct order number 1–800–689–0793. When ordering on the phone you will be asked for a billing address, shipping address if applicable, the title and quantity of items you wish to order. If your call is answered by voice mail, you may leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible. We request that you not leave orders on voice mail. We are happy to call you back and take your order personally.

The Big Print Unless credit has already been established, all Torah Aura Productions sales are cash before delivery. Credit terms are net first of the following month. A finance charge of one and one half percent (11/2%) per month (which is an Annual Percentage Rate of 18%) will be charged on all past due accounts.

Items that are not available will be placed on back order. Back ordered items will be shipped to your location as they become available. Back ordered items will be billed upon shipment.

Torah Aura Productions will only accept returns of unopened/ unused materials. Materials that are returned will result in a credit toward future purchases only, less a 10% restocking charge on all materials returned after 60 days. Returns after 6 months will be subject to a 25% restocking charge, returns after 12 months will be subject to a 70% restocking charge, and returns are not accepted after 12 months. We do not issue cash refunds. All returns must include an inventory or additional charges may apply.

Complete the order by entering the number of copies requested of each item. Any defective materials will be exchanged as soon as possible after notification. All claims for damaged or missing materials must be made within 15 days of receipt.

Orders Shipped Outside of the Continental United States Customer must specify how they want orders shipped for orders shipped outside the continental US or the order will shipped at our discretion. Torah Aura is not responsible for lost or damaged material sent via the US Postal Service.

Overseas and Canadian orders must be paid with international money orders in U.S. funds, checks drawn on U.S. banks or credit cards.
