Top Level Magazine (TLM) was founded by Therese Marie Collection TMC and partners June 2020. TLM is also a spin-off of the Plugged In Network event also founded by TMC and Partners. TLM is a digital fashion and entertainment magazine.

Our desire is to connect people in the fashion and entertainment industry by providing resources, tips, brand exposure, community engagement, inspirations and more.

I

started my cosmetics line in August 2011. I was also a professional makeup artist as well.

A good friend of mine gave me the idea to start a makeup line since I did makeup. I had no knowledge of the makeup business but knew I needed to do research on products to start with and suppliers to help create the perfect product. I was obsessed with eye makeup the different colors and different eye looks to create. So, I decided to go with pigments because they are so rich and vibrant and you can get multiple uses out of them.

So then, I did the testing part ordered samples online with just a few colors to see about the ingredients texture and if the colors were long wear.

Lucky me, the first company I found I loved them and they were my supplier. I started small with 10 colors just to test out on my clients to see how they like them and they loved them and wanted to purchase them. So, from that point on, it was a go and I moved forward. I offered color ranges from the lightest to the darkest for all skin tones. All eye colors I custom

created from mattes, shimmers and some glitters. I put myself out there in my city and would do makeup for fashion shows and my clients and that is how word of mouth traveled fast. I was known for my rich , bold and vibrant eye colors. The people loved them. So then, I wanted to branch out of my city so remind you I still could not think of a name for my brand just yet. So, I just had a PayPal account and Facebook business page that is it and I named each eye color a unique name. I also took pictures of swatches of each product as well. A celebrity photographer friend of mine saw I was trying to push my products and he knew a makeup artist in Houston, Texas who he connected me to named Kim Frankie Grant. Well that is when the magic started. I sent her my whole collection for free asked her to try them out on any makeup look she created. And she loved them so much and promoted them for me. We build a great business relationship and helped each other and that is how I branched out into selling in other cities and even countries. Still, to this day, Kim and I support each other. Now I offer Lip colors of all shades. I custom make them on my own. They are vegan and cruelty free. I get to choose variety of shades of colors for all women skin tones.

I decided to retire as a Pro Makeup Artist of 19 years in 2019. Now I’m dedicated 100% to my brands business. I have a wholesale program and I’m a vendor and help women from all over create their makeup line. It’s the part I love and it’s working in my favor. My brand is expanding & it’s my passion and I love it.

I will be pushing my holiday collection in late November. I also have a melanin collection for beautiful brown skin women of all skin tones.

A designer’s job can be very stressful and intense sometimes down to the last second we are making adjustments and changes. You want to be that model that doesn’t add ANY additional stress but makes things easier for that designer.* I hope this helps

Top Level Magazine gives a Spotlight to District Supervisor

equanna has an amazing passion for her community and works tireless for positive change. Sequanna is apart of Dream Team United MKE, which consists of other community leaders such as Farina Brooks who formed the group. They do what is known as Community Pop Up, which was designed to serve high poverty areas in the Milwaukee area.

They do a cookout and give away items such as pampers, baby formula, clothing, coloring books, groceries and resources all free to the community.

On August 16, 2020 a mural was unveiled on Milwaukee’s north side honoring local community activist including Supervisor Sequanna Taylor. It is called “Give Them Flowers Now”

A Mural Celebration:

“Give Them Their Flowers Now”

A

community mural was unveiled in Milwaukee to recognize community leaders who are making an impact in our community. The United States has seen a racial inequities recently across the country. The event was filled with people from the community including, community leaders to witness the city of Milwaukee making history. A lot of great people have been doing amazing things for the community and have been for years. It is important to recognize those who have stood up for justice.

The type of people that are displayed are on the mural have paved the way. It is time we celebrate them while they live and give them their flowers now.

The mural was curated by Art-I-Culture organizers, Sam A. Alford and County Supervisor Sequanna Taylor. The group plans to expand the mural into a outdoor civil rights museum. Art-I-Culture has also curated murals all over the city of Milwaukee. They also plan to do a mural about black African American films.

This city wide mural unveiling also featured a public fashion show by black fashion designer Therese Marie. Her fashion line Therese Marie Collection was showcased and featured these top models who made the pavement their runway! The models had their fists in the air as the community celebrated the mural unveiling and that Black Lives Matter!

irtual fashion showcases are the biggest wave of the future due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Some of the largest fashion weeks postponed production in 2020. New York Fashion

Week 2020 didn’t happen this fall because of the pandemic. Social distancing, quarantining and wearing mask is now the new normal. The largest red carpets that the fashion community look forward to each year were all canceled. The fashion & entertainment industry had to think outside of the box. By doing so going virtual has been what some of the largest productions have done. If we turn on our television we now see even the local news, talk shows and game shows have all gone virtual and/or completely illuminated the live audience. Both the BET and Stellar Awards shows canceled their red carpet events with live audience and showcased as a virtual show. The year 2020 has definitely shaken up the world and the way we do things.

One of the leaders in the plus size fashion industry is Gwen DeVoe. She is the CEO and producer of Full Figured

Fashion Week. Her highly anticipated show went virtual June 25-28 2020. Gwen’s production was stellar and had her audience on the edge of their seats! As a fashion designer I had the time of my life watching the fashion show. I attended and showcased my fashion brand in New York during fashion week each year and enjoy all of the energy and excitement of a live show.

Unfortunately because of Covid-19 that didn’t happen this fall. I was curious of how the virtual showcase would work. I presented my fashion brand Therese Marie Collection in a video for the virtual event for Full Figured Fashion Week and was blown away. I was both thrilled and excited to watch live events with viewers across the country. As a designer you don’t get a chance to get an immediate response of what the crowd thinks of your designs but on this platform I DID! I was able to see the immediate responses from the viewing audience in the “live chat”. I was able to chat live with buyers and sell my garments right away!

As we hope, wait and pray for world to normalize we join together strong on digital platforms. We are strong, we are resilient, we are fashion!!

I

am no longer a victim. I am a survivor. I share my story because I want to spread awareness but also inspire others around the world. I didn’t have chance or at least they didn’t think I did. I was molested at a very young age and I was sexually assaulted in my late teens.

At the age of 19, I almost died due to a bad car accident that involved drugs and alcohol. I was young, naive, self-destructive, ashamed and hopeless with no one to turn to. For many years, I kept the deepest darkest secrets bottled up inside before opening up to my mom, a few close friends and family members. I went to counseling once and sometimes even twice a week. I had really bad anxiety, panic attacks and flashbacks that still haunt me from time to time. From that point on, I made a promise to myself I would get the help I needed. I quit doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I stopped hanging around with the wrong crowd. I went back to school and got my GED. I was the first in my family (both sides) to go to college. At the age of 25, I became a mom. I was still in college, working part-time and living with my mom. Since, then I’ve had two more children. My older two children Mykle (pronounced Michael) and Makenzie have the same father who’s been in and out of their lives since day one.

MaKayla is my youngest. Her father and I are no longer together. Which, quite frankly, it was the best decision I made for my children and me. I was abused physically, mentally and emotionally. From lying, cheating, substance abuse (my ex), financial hardships, and the constant battle of fighting every day. I was tired of being sick and tired. May 2016 was the last time he put his hands on me. We were together six and half years. I chose to stay for several years simply because I was afraid of the unknown. I was bitter and broken. But because of my faith in God, and with help from my family and friends. I was able to walk away. In 2017, I completed beauty school and passed my state boards in state of IL to become a licensed

Fast forward to last year. On June 14, 2019, I had my first photoshoot at ALT Imagery with Jerry Alt. At that time, it wasn’t based on modeling but rather a more personal growth and statement for myself because I saw how far I came and all I had achieved. Little did I know, it would take me this far. Just a little over a year later, my modeling career has flourished. Thus far, I walked in several fashion shows. I also have been published in three magazines.

Dreamy Magazine (November 2019 Issue 71), Gmaro Magazine my first International publication Suits Me Just Fine March 2020 Issue 3, and Edith Magazine my first cover publication and multiple features

Blushing Pink Issue 113 April 2020. I also applied and was accepted for the 2019 Maxim Covergirl Competition – I placed at Top 5. Since quarantine, I’ve used social media as the primary outlet to increase my reach, improve engagement and build relationships.

It is why I use multiple platforms for content and social marketing.

Currently, I am working with over ten different brands globally. I’m in the process of creating my own website and launching my own brand. Looking back, I was broken, ashamed and hopeless. Today, I am strong, confident and badass! In closing, I say to all of you, do what makes you happy. Life’s too short and tomorrow is never promised as we all know. Stop living in fear, follow your heart, and go after the life you deserve. #DREAMBIG

Born on February 29, 2000 in Milwaukee, WI, this leap year goddess developed a passion for photos and fashion at the tender age of four (4). But that passion was shelved as Mareana’s awareness of the worlds standards grew, sparking personal insecurities with her weight and looks. As a young child, Mareana’s peers would bully and tease her, taking jabs at her already compromised self-esteem.

Adding insult to injury, Mareana was also made fun of by some of the people that she looked up to and considered to be her role models. The Re-Birth of Mareana Mareana used her pain to fuel her passion, rekindling her confidence through modeling and a desire to instill her new- found confidence in others.

Her message is one of self- love and purpose as she continues to emerge as the voice for women and men struggiling with the burden of their self-image. Mareana Williams known as the “Plus-sized Barbie” a.k.a “Fashion Model” , paritcipates in pageants, fashion shows, and runways ; at the age of fourteen (14) she became the member of the John Casablanca Modeling Agencies, leading to her invitation to be apart of the National American Miss Pageant at the age of the sixteen (16). iln the community, Mareana successfully assisted in coordinating back-to-school drives for children who were less fortunate. Mareana is not only a staple of beaurty, but an advocate who is deeply rooted in service in her local church and community. In alignment with her mission to serve, Mareana recently obtained a CNA certification as a milestone on her journey to pursuing nursing. It is commonly stated that beauty is vain, but for Mareana, modeling serves a much deeper purpose.

She would like to use her growing platform to inspire others while becoming the worlds greatest full time model.

How to Start Your Health Journey

ne of the hardest things to do is make changes is your health. I know it’s not easy but it is possible if you put your mind to it. Everyone has an image of how they see themselves now and how they want to see themselves in the future. This is called “Imagery”. Some people struggle with believing they can actually obtain that image and don’t know how to reach that body goal.

My advice is start telling your mind you can and will do it. Combat every negative thought about your image with twice as many positives. This will help you balance and strengthen your confidence to meet your goal.

Also remember it’s not just about looking good, but it’s about being healthy and that’s the real image.

Here are a few steps to assess where you may be in your journey to health • • • • •

Pre-contemplation: have a desire to change your health but no plans Contemplation: You started thinking about but don’t know what to do Preparation: you’ve looked at gyms, equipment/workouts, meals, recipes Action: you’ve started working out and eating better within 6 months Maintenance: You’ve been living a healthy lifestyle for 6 months

Now that you know the where you are I want to stop and congratulate you on getting started or continuing your health journey.

My goal as a nutritionist and fitness trainer is to influence and teach individuals how to live healthy lives especially women of color. Though our world is going through a health crisis, I want to lift you up where ever you are and say “you can do it”! Do it for your family, spouse, friends, they want you around longer but most of all do it for yourself. “Do It for Life”
