FEATURE EXPERIENCE EXPERIENCES

OVERNIGHT SAILING + TROPICAL ISLAND STAY
Set sail on the azure waters of the Whitsundays and while away the hours with swim stops and ample basking time. Reef snorkelling and the Pinterest-worthy Whitehaven Beach are also on the agenda for this 24-hour adventure.

WHITSUNDAYS, AUSTRALIA

SWAG UNDER THE STARS
Experience the sensational Central Australian night sky and the crackle of the campfire as you drift off counting shooting stars. The Aussie Swag is an oversized waterproof sleeping bag with a built-in mattress that is rolled out on the ground for what is sure to be one of your best night’s sleep on the trip.
KING’S CREEK STATION, AUSTRALIA

Connect with the land and experience the natural beauty of the landscape as you canoe along the Katherine River in the Katherine Gorge section. Take in the Cascade Falls and maybe even a meander to a tropical swimming hole.
EXPERIENCES

WYNNS VINEYARD
When travelling through one of the country’s most famous wine regions, always stop to sample the goods. It’d be rude not to, right? Don a lab coat and blend your very own drop of Merlot, Cabernet and Shiraz that you’ll be happy to put your name to (on your own personalised bottle).

OVERNIGHT MARAE EXPERIENCE
What better way to soak up all that is Maori culture than by staying overnight in a traditional wood carved meeting house? Learn the meaning of the carvings, traditions of the elders and the story of the local Iwi (“people”), as well as the local Haka and Poi, while listening to stories of a fascinating culture.

MILFORD SOUND CRUISE
Voted by Topdeckers year after year as the most scenic part of their New Zealand trip, a cruise through the towering cliffs and stunning waterfalls of Milford Sound will be an experience to be remembered. Keep your eyes peeled for the New Zealand fur seals, dolphins and the ever elusive Fiordland Crested Penguin.
Freedom to

Put down the itinerary, stray from the crowd and make good use of your ‘me’ time with some of these not-to-be-missed experiences. Freedom never felt so good.

GREAT BARRIER REEF, CAIRNS, AUSTRALIA
The world’s largest coral reef and home to an array of breathtaking underwater species, the iconic Great Barrier Reef is the perfect place to explore on a day trip from Cairns.

SKYDIVE OVER ULURU, NT, AUSTRALIA
Adrenaline junkies, unite. Experience some airtime over Uluru (Ayers Rock) and take in the view from above with a pulse-racing leap over one of the world’s most iconic landmarks.

SWIM WITH DOLPHINS, KAIKOURA,
NEW ZEALAND
Get up close and personal with these playful creatures in their natural habitat on either a viewing or swimming excursion from Kaikoura.

Delicious
FOOD
Some may bring home a tacky souvenir; others a picture-perfect postcard. But that epic feast you ate while on the trip of a lifetime? That’s a memory that will stay with you forever. Dig in!

CRAYFISH, KAIKOURA, NEW ZEALAND
Where better to indulge in mouthwatering crayfish than the place that literally means “eat crayfish” in the Maori language?
Scope out a roadside caravan selling the fresh crustaceans and dig in.

CAMEL BURGER, NT, AUSTRALIA
Forget McDonalds. Think McDromedary. Already a delicacy in the Middle East, camel meat is leaner than beef and goes down a treat when paired with herbs and sauces. Humpalicious!

WINERIES, AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
With a favourable climate, optimum growing conditions and let’s face it, an avid local fan base, there’s no wonder the Kiwis and Aussies know their vino. Get sipping some of the world’s best.

“FROM THE AWESOME BLUE WATERS OF THE GREAT BARRIER REEF TO THE RUGGED COASTLINES OF VICTORIA AND THE EERY BEAUTY OF THE OUTBACK, AUSTRALIA REALLY HAS IT ALL. IT’S A PRIVILEGE TO CALL THIS PLACE MY OFFICE!”

Hit the shops, test out those newly acquired surfing skills, paddle a sea kayak, or watch whales breach from the Lighthouse in winter. This is the town where peace and tranquillity go to relax. You should too. Or jump out of a plane. Byron doesn't care as long as you're happy. (B)

NewZealand
From the ancient glaciers and fjordscapes in the south to the green, rolling hills on the North Island, New Zealand waves a magic wand at every turn. Get up close with whales and dolphins in Kaikoura, trek around Sauron’s old crib at Mt Doom or throw yourself off just about anything. Adventure starts here.

WHAT ARE SECTORS?
Sector trips offer you a great way to choose a departure city, set of experiences, or journey length that best suits you. A Sector trip is part of a larger journey, meaning your new friends might continue on after you leave, or you might be joining a trip already in progress.
5 DAY | SWEET AS NORTH

DAY 1 AUCKLAND TO ROTORUA (MARAE STAY). Maori legends and mythology have been passed down for thousands of years. You have one night in this sacred meeting house, so pay attention. After learning the tongue-thrusting Haka dance moves of the All Blacks, and enjoying the finesse of the ladies’ Poi dance, polish off a traditional maori dinner. (D)
DAY 2 ROTORUA. Get muddy in the bubbling, sulphursoaked town of Rotorua. If you’re starting to resemble a muddy prune, flush out the mud rafting over the waterfalls, discover the Disneyland of mountain biking, or jump into the real-life landscapes of Tolkien’s dreams on the Hobbiton Shire escape. (B)
DAY 3 ROTORUA TO TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK. Geothermal activity gets turned up to 11 with natural hot pools, and if that's not enough, you can jump off a bridge as we pass by the largest lake in New Zealand. (B,D)
DAY 4 TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK. With dual cultural and natural heritage status, and often described as the most epic hike in NZ, Tongariro NP is home to two active volcanoes that will hopefully keep a lid on things. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing will quickly top your list of favourites if you don't mind heights and the odd dormant lava chamber (and walks from 20 mins to 8 hours). (B)
DAY 5 TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK TO WELLINGTON. From hiking over lava to readjusting to city life, today we hit the nation's capital, Wellington (no, it's not Auckland!). After you conquer the six floors of the Te Papa museum, you'll probably be ready for a big city nightlife hit. With more bars and restaurants per capita than New York and a well-earned spot as the sporting capital of NZ, you can't go wrong with a craft beer and some local rugby action. What better way to bid farewell to your North Island trip mates? (B)

7 DAY | SKI NEW ZEALAND

DAY 1 QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND. An NZ ski trip is always a good idea. Our base for the week is a stone's throw away from all the action of Queenstown, with Lake Wakatipu and the dramatic Southern Alps to keep you company. We’ll get your lift passes and transport cards sorted before a walking tour. Tonight: get to know your snow buddies over dinner at Winnie's. (D)
DAY 2 QUEENSTOWN. Put that 4 day superpass to good use. Head up to Coronet Peak and find your ski legs with a first timer lesson or a refresher course from your last ski. It’s like riding a bike. Ask the crew for the best trails to practice on, then refuel at a mountain cafe for lunch before an afternoon ski sesh. Try out your new tricks or stick to the green slopes – if you look like a giant stick insect with oversized shoes on, never fear, you’ll get the hang of it soon. (B)
DAY 3 QUEENSTOWN. Pull out the big guns today. Take the scenic bus drive up to the Remarkables ski area and test out your skills – lessons of all levels are available again to perfect your turns. Check out the Tube Park if you’d like to go from standing to sliding, or organise a soaking at the Onsen Hot Pools to rest those aching muscles. (B)
DAY 4 QUEENSTOWN. You should be starting to get some serious muscle tone by now. Head back to the slopes for old favourite trails or day trip it to Milford Sound. Stop at Mirror Lake, Hollyford Valley and drive through the Homer Tunnel on the way back. Spend the afternoon learning about the history and geology of the Fiord. (B)
DAY 5 QUEENSTOWN. Today do the optional bungy jump, canyon swinging or jet boating. If you’re all adrenaline-d out, do a horseback ride or winery tour. Change scenery and try the Cardrona Ski Mountain trails. Exchange epic jumps and embarrassing face plant stories over dinner. (B,D)
DAY 6 QUEENSTOWN. No visit to Queenstown is complete without a visit to the Ferg Bakery. Head up to the mountain in the afternoon for twilight skiing with DJs and bars for a backdrop. The party life of Queenstown awaits tonight. (B)

You should know that the carrier will rely upon its ‘conditions of carriage’ which may limit or remove the carrier’s liability to You and limit compensation under any international Conventions. Our liability will also, in all cases, be limited in accordance with relevant carrier conditions of carriage. Our obligation to You is to (and You expressly authorise us to) make trip bookings on Your behalf with reasonable skill and care and to arrange a contract between You and the relevant operator. We exercise care in the selection of reputable operators but we have no control over, or liability for, the services provided by third parties. All bookings are made on Your behalf subject to the terms and conditions, including conditions of carriage and limitations of liability, imposed by the relevant operator. Your legal rights in connection with such trips are against the specific operator and are not against us, except to the extent a problem is caused by fault on our part.
In the event that Topdeck (or its insurers) make any payment to You for death, personal injury or illness, You must give us or our insurers all and any rights You may have to take action against the party responsible for causing the death, personal injury or illness and You must co-operate fully with us in seeking recovery of any payment we may make from such party.
14. Your booking is accepted on the condition that You understand, and take responsibility for, the risks inherent in adventure travel. Every effort will be made to operate all trips featured in this brochure but because of the number of countries visited on trips there may be a necessity to vary the itinerary from that stated in the brochure, and delays may occur for a variety of reasons beyond our control. The need for a flexible attitude to this type of travel is stressed in our publication. The final decision on the itinerary and the content of the trip will be taken by the Trip Leader, as appointed by us in the interest of the group as a whole. Please note that due to Public holidays some sights or activities may not be available on a particular trip.
CONTRAVENTION OF LAW
19.We will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained by You as a result of a contravention of any law or regulation of any of the countries visited while on the trip.
HEALTH AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS
20. If You have a medical condition or disability which may affect your trip, we ask that You inform us in writing at the time of booking the trip of any special arrangements required by You so that we are able to advise as to the suitability of those arrangements. If we reasonably feel we are unable to satisfactorily accommodate your particular needs, we reserve the right to decline the booking or ask for You to be accompanied by a person who is able to provide full assistance to You throughout your trip.
YOUR LIABILITY TO US
21. You will not be permitted to embark or continue on the trip if your mental or physical condition is, in the reasonable opinion of any representative of Topdeck, such as to render You incapable of caring for yourself, or whereby You become objectionable to other passengers, or You become a hazard to yourself or other passengers. We will not be responsible for expenses resulting in You being precluded from completing the trip for any reason, nor will we refund You any part of your trip cost. In all cases we will notify You of the reasons why we have taken this action. We will have no obligation to arrange for your return to the point of the trip departure where your condition manifests itself after the trip departure. Further, if the trip involves travel by air, the captain of your aircraft can refuse to allow You to fly on the aircraft if he believes that You could be dangerous or disruptive to other passengers on the flight.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
22. Please ensure You carefully read your invoice, tickets and all other documents we send to You as soon as You receive them, and contact your travel agent, or us immediately if any information appears to be incorrect. We will not accept any liability if You fail to notify us of any inaccuracy in any document within 14 days of us sending them to You or your agent. While we will do our best to rectify any changes made outside this time, it is your responsibility to meet any additional costs which may be involved, except in the case of an error made by Topdeck and where there is reasonable justification for You not contacting us within the specified time. You are responsible for ensuring that all necessary travel documents including, but not limited to, passports, visas and vaccination certificates are valid and subsisting. We strongly recommend that You verify current documentation requirements and all other relevant protocols and procedures associated with your trip with your travel agent or us. Please note requirements change and you must check with your Consulate for the most up to date information, including but not limited to Visa requirements for the countries visited on your Trip. Passports must have an expiry date of at least six months after completion of the trip.
23. We recommend You take out comprehensive travel insurance before You travel on your trip. Your insurance protection should include cover for cancellation, medical and repatriation expenses, personal injury and accident, death and loss of personal baggage and money and personal liability insurance. Evidence of such insurances should be produced to Topdeck on request and normally on day one of your trip. Insurance cover offered by credit card companies or reciprocal medical cover agreements are often not comprehensive.
24. You hereby indemnify us against all third-party actions taken against us for loss or damage caused by You or arising from your participation on the trip.
25. In the event of You making a claim against Topdeck arising out of the trip, You hereby assign to us, any rights to take action against any third party supplier or any other person or party that Topdeck reasonably considers to be a party to the action and to co-operate fully with Topdeck should Topdeck or its insurers wish to enforce those rights which have been assigned to Topdeck.
26. In the event that You make a claim against us which is covered by your insurance policy, You agree to pursue the claim through your insurer either in addition to, or in substitution for, your claim against us (if any). We agree to indemnify You in respect of reasonable expenses incurred in successfully pursuing such a claim and acknowledge that any settlement made by the insurer shall not prejudice your rights against us.
27. In the event of You not making a claim before 5 working days of the maximum length of time permitted by your policy, You must assign, by letter sent by courier delivery to Topdeck not less than 5 working days prior to the said specified time, the benefit of the policy and give immediate notice of such an assignment to your insurer.
COMPLAINTS
38. In the event of any dissatisfaction with the accommodation or any other service provided by Topdeck, You must report it immediately to the Trip Leader so that action can be taken to remedy the problem. Failure to notify the Trip Leader of any problem immediately may prejudice Topdeck and may result in your ability to claim compensation from us being extinguished or reduced. Any complaint made to Topdeck following the conclusion of the trip should be made in writing within 28 days of completion of the trip. In the event that You do not notify us in writing within 28 days, Topdeck’s ability to investigate the complaint may be prejudiced and may extinguish your claim.
DATA PROTECTION
29. We are committed to protecting your personal information and agree to process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which is available online at www.topdeck.travel/privacy.
