Leadership Louisville Center

Talent development, relationship building and community engagement are the focus of the Leadership Louisville Center, a nationally recognized resource “for individuals and organizations who strive to go beyond being individually successful to being truly significant,” said Cynthia S. Knapek, president of the organization. “The purpose of the Leadership Louisville Center is to inspire and equip leaders to Be better and Do better.”

There are three strategic imperatives driving the Leadership Louisville Center: equipping more people to lead with confidence and courage, fostering connections that strengthen the social fabric of the community, and being a national center of excellence to amplify the organization’s impact across the country.

The Leadership Louisville Center offers several experiential opportunities, including community leadership programs that range from 2 ½ days to 12 months. Leadership Louisville, Focus Louisville, Ignite Louisville, Bingham Fellows and Encore Louisville are programs that have graduated over 10,000 leaders since 1979.

Each year, participants adopt around 30 community leadership projects and give over 10,000 hours and more than $600,000 in value to dozens of local nonprofits and civic initiatives.

Professional development is available through courses, private or on-site training and through keynotes and talks. “Our true impact lies in the magic of mix,” Cynthia said. “Our participants are profoundly impacted by the opportunity to listen and learn from those they might never have met otherwise.”

“We are the place where leaders can connect with diverse networks, build skills and understanding, and take action to drive positive social and professional impact,” Cynthia said. “Our headquarters at 707 W. Main St. in the heart of downtown Louisville provides a community-convening space for collaboration and the exchange of ideas.”
