Get Salty: ALL ABOUT SALT THERAPY

The ancient all-natural remedy for everything from allergies to sleep disorders

Lexington Salt Cave

Lexington Salt Cave was created by owner Lara Levine to provide Halotherapy (dry salt therapy) in a simulated pink Himalayan salt cave for people to relax, restore, and refresh their mind, body, and spirit. Opened during Covid-19, Lara wanted to o er a magical space for people to rejuvenate their nervous system, improve respiratory and skin health, support immunity, and increase overall health and wellbeing. With a relaxing environment that makes you feel like you’re inside a cave on the beach, you can experience Halotherapy, guided meditation, yoga, wellness workshops, and more. Lexington Salt Cave also o ers massages in the cave on Mondays and ionic foot detox soaks, along with other wellness packages.

First discovered in 1843, in the salt mines of Poland by Dr. Feliks Boczkowski, Halotherapy is an ancient, natural, safe treatment that involves exposure to and inhalation of dry, salt-infused air. The treatment can help the body to deeply relax and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety while helping relieve symptoms of ailments such as allergies, asthma, cystic fibrosis, COPD, bronchitis and sinusitis, psoriasis, and eczema, to name a few.

Lexington Salt Cave is the first and only salt cave in Lexington and is constructed of nearly 7 tons of pure Himalayan Salt, with a salt crystal floor, and a moon and stars overhead. When you breathe the salty air deep into your lungs, it helps your body to naturally rid itself of toxins and pollutants, such as allergens and bacteria, as well as strengthen its immunity. The cave also o ers antioxidant properties, allowing your body and mind to fully relax from stressors like cell phones, computers, and excessive screen time. 45 minutes in a Halotherapy session can be compared to spending a week at the beach!

So, now you’re wondering how Halotherapy works. Well, a dry aerosol of pure pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride (salt) is di used into the air while you relax in the cave-like, healing space. With so much salt surrounding you, your body inhales and absorbs the microscopic salt particles, which are anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and free of dust and allergens. These salt particles penetrate deep into the body’s airways to absorb toxins and aid the body in naturally removing them, while also calming internal muscles and allowing the nervous system to rebalance. Clients can enjoy the treatment while meditating, relaxing, receiving a massage, doing yoga, or even just enjoying a nap! After a session, many clients report feeling an increased clarity, rejuvenation, and a sense of well-being.

According to the Salt Therapy Association, regular salt therapy has been shown to help alleviate symptoms of many ailments of the body and mind, an experience Lara is familiar with. She first discovered this incredible treatment when she was on a girl’s trip in Asheville, North Carolina about 15 years ago. “I’ve su ered from Kentucky allergies over the years and had a hard time tolerating the medication’s side e ects while noticing little to no relief.” She noticed how much better she could breathe after a visit to the salt cave and also realized the mental wellness e ects of salt therapy. “In 2020 when respiratory health and mental wellness were a great concern for everyone, I decided to develop a business plan for Lexington Salt Cave.” Salt therapy was the only thing that helped Lara relieve her allergy symptoms, and her goal was to create an extraordinary healing space for people with similar ailments.

Lexington Salt Cave is committed to providing a sense of community in tandem with bringing awareness, education, and unique experiences that help improve one’s mental and physical health.
