AMBER ROOM

Amber Room, located within the historic Sobański Palace on Av. Ujazdowskie, is an architectural and culinary gem that spells absolute class. The menu, created by Welsh-born Chef Lee Jones, is modern European and comprises Polish as well. He is the recipient of prestigious British awards and has led the kitchens of Michelin-star restaurants, and at the prestigious La Finca in the south of Spain.

His creative menu includes the smoked eel with foie gras, beetroot couscous, vodka and orange caramel tuile; the vegan cabbage soup; the venison loin, salt baked celeriac, carrots, orange, cardamom, Port wine; and the roasted cod served with ravioli with scallops and lobster, spinach, and shellfish sauce; are all delectable and visually stunning. Amber Room is recommended by the Michelin Guide 2018 with four couverts, is the recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2018, and has been selected to be in the prestigious La Liste!

Borpince, a Hungarian-inspired restaurant and wine cellar, is located in the heart of Warsaw. Owner and manager Beata TrónNowak’s Hungarian background makes this place an enclave of authenticity. This is evident as one descends the stairs into the bricks-and-arches basement, home to a selection of over a hundred stellar wines from top Hungarian wine producers. The menu is dynamic and seasonal, made with traditional recipes with many of the ingredients imported directly; the result is original flavors served with a modern bent. The goulash soup; the halaszle, a spicy river fish soup; the traditional pörkölt, a stew with boneless meat and vegetables; and pork mangalica with chestnut puree, are all outstanding. For dessert the Gundel pancake, made with ground walnuts, and served flambéed in a dark chocolate sauce, is an apt high-point to perfect dining!

Beef N’ Pepper, located in the center of town, has quickly established itself as leading steakhouse in Warsaw. Mostly used here is the finest-quality Polish beef, matured and aged for 28 days which makes the meat juicy, crisp and immensely flavorful. Items such as the T-bone, Black Angus, top sirloin, and rib- eye are all truly outstanding! Further completing the equation here menu-wise are appetizers such as tartar of seasoned beef tenderloin with dried yolks; shrimp in soy-oyster sauce with parsley oil, garlic and ginger; and octopus with mango salsa, fresh cucumber and balsamic caviar. The excellent dining experience at Beef and Pepper is significantly enhanced by its well-equipped bar, affording guests a rich array of interesting whiskeys, bourbons, wines and cocktails that combine exceedingly well with the menu.

The word brasserie implies a relaxed, upscale setting, professional service, white linen, a simple yet comprehensive menu. Brasserie Warszawska is of course more than that, and is reflective of the combined traditions of Warsaw and Paris, suffused perhaps with elements of the new European modernity. Butchery & Wine has become the only restaurant in Poland to be awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand, which implies good value for money and which represents a favorite of the Michelin Guides.

Both of these individuals are driven professionals, inspiring each other to achieve the culinary heights so important for the both of them. Chef Bartosz’s emphasis is on being local, being seasonal, and above all being creative. The majority of the ingredients he uses are in fact sourced by him from local farmers within a radius of 50 km. around Warsaw and from personally known, reliable vendors. Daniel Pawelek, the talent behind stellar restaurants Butchery & Wine, Brasserie Warsaw, and Rozbrat 20, teamed up with Paul Demianiuk, one of the country’s finest sommeliers, to create Kieliszki na Próżnej. Located on Próżna, once the center of the Warsaw Ghetto, and now ironically Warsaw’s culinary cutting edge, Kieliszki is where wine plays first fiddle to what’s on one’s plate. The creative Polish menu here is traditional yet modernized and served with a “tapas attitude.” The creative fervor leads with an impressive wine portfolio from known producers, and whilst mainly from Europe the dominant source is the various wine regions in Italy.

The main wall is adorned with a mural by Mariusz Tarkawian and is titled “Lexicon of 2015”---quite clearly a reflection of the fact that the vocabulary here is one of wine, and how it should converse with food. A remarkably refreshing place indeed!

D. PAWELEK KIELISZKI NA HOZEJ

Kieliszki na Hożej is a continuation of Daniel Pawelek’s collaborative effort with star Polish sommelier Paweł Demianiuk.

Chef Karol Zygmunt’s classic approach is indeed that of a craftsman, artisanal in its ethos. He pays strong attention to the seasons and on local products, extracts as much flavor as possible so that the dishes “simply allow nature to flow through.”

Zygmunt rediscovers forgotten culinary methods, flavors, and traditions, updating these with modern, sophisticated, and practical forms. His culinary inspirations include potato with mackerel stock, yolk and spring onion; Polish lamb with broad beans, chanterelles, young cabbage and gooseberry; and Sękacz, or the traditional spit cake with blueberries and pudding for dessert. There are over 250 wines by the glass; the Sommelier’s deep knowledge of what goes best with what transforms this into a memorable dining experience!

SZPITAL AMBROZIAK KAVOS Strange Changes on the Face and Body - Recognizing These & What to do?

The appearance of the skin reveals a lot about the age and condition of the body.

At times various disturbing changes appear; some from mistakes made with faulty skincare, and some as signs of disease or old age.

Skin cancers: •

Every stigma on the skin should be observed, because some may be a sign of cancer. One of them is basal cell carcinoma, which looks like a small lump with numerous vessels or “pustules”. Others include melanoma.

Prophylaxis in both cases consist primarily of observing the control of changes and photoprotection, but also by paying attention to all new developing elements, especially those with out of focus edges and shapes.

If these appear on the neck or under the armpits, these may be fibromas.

Fortunately, they are non life threatening. Non-malignant tumors also include lipoma, which is in the form of a tumor, in the center of which there is fatty, sebaceous cyst.

Other signs and scars:

• Some changes appearing on the body are not malignant and arise due to

age or develop due to poorly healing skin. Among these, ruby signs is worth

mentioning; small red papules appearing with age or after pregnancy. Hard

bumps that change over time from brown to black are seborrhoeic warts.

• Changes associated with wound healing include hypertrophic scars

(excessively hypertrophied scars) and keloids (hardened skin lesion that grow

uncontrollably).

Methods of treating skin lesions--Fortunately, most of these changes can be treated: • •

One can get rid of many skin cancers surgically; Ruby spots, fibromas, seborrheic warts are best subject to laser therapy, or also disposed of using curettage or mechanical removal; Radiotherapy is yet another interesting method is also allowing one to get rid of skin or keroid cancer without surgical incision; In some changes, such as where keloids are steroided, 4-fluorouracil, lasers are used to reduce their visibility.
