THE HAMILTON SOCIETY

One Gift. A Lifetime of Possibility.

WHY GIVE TO ALL-GIRLS’ SCHOOLS?

At Toorak College, we recognise the transformative power of education, particularly within the context of an all-girls environment. By supporting our school through philanthropic giving, you are fostering an environment where young women can thrive academically, socially, and personally. You are not just investing in education; you are investing in the future leaders, innovators, and changemakers of tomorrow.

Here, young women are empowered to explore their passions, voice their opinions, and pursue their dreams without limitations. Your contribution to our school fosters an environment where young women can thrive, break barriers, and shatter glass ceilings, ultimately shaping a more equitable and inclusive society for generations to come. Join us in empowering the leaders of tomorrow by supporting our mission today.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

The Impact of Philanthropic Giving on Our School

I am excited to have the opportunity to share with you the remarkable impact of philanthropic giving on our School. As Principal, I have the privilege of witnessing first-hand the profound transformations that occur when generous hearts unite in support of education and opportunity.

Philanthropy, in its many forms, has played an instrumental role in building the School we all enjoy today and in shaping its future as well. Whether it be through the improvement of our infrastructure to provide inspiring spaces for our students to learn and create, the gift of scholarships for those who may be unable to access the opportunities that Toorak provides, or enabling pioneering technological advancements to ensure we continue to stay at the forefront of future-thinking, the contributions of our donors have enriched the educational experience of every student who walks through our doors.

The Hamilton Society honours those who have chosen to leave a gift to Toorak College in their Will; shaping the future for generations of young women. By joining the Hamilton Society, you become part of our special group of benefactors whose vision and generosity will extend beyond their lifetime to elevate our school’s capabilities, expand opportunities and, most importantly, positively impact the lives of our students and families. It is a testament to the collective belief that education is not merely a transaction but an investment in the potential of our young people and the impact we know they will have as global citizens.

Together, we are forging a legacy of generosity, opportunity and community and I invite you to join us.

Regards,

DID YOU KNOW?

In the Greek tradition, the word philanthropy grows from the words ‘philos’ meaning ‘love’ and ‘anthropos’ meaning ‘humanity.’ Literally, in the original Greek meaning, the word philanthropy is the ‘love of humanity.’

WHY LEAVE A BEQUEST TO TOORAK COLLEGE?

At Toorak College, we believe in the transformative power of education, and bequests play a crucial role in enabling us to fulfil our mission of empowering young women to excel academically, personally, and socially.

It is more than just a gift - it is an investment in the potential of our students.

Your generosity opens the door to opportunities, igniting a spark that can change the course of a young girl’s life. Every scholarship awarded, every innovative program launched, and every inspiring learning space created carries a piece of your gift. Together we can nurture students who will go on to make their own mark, and it all begins with your bequest.

Bequests have lasting impact; they ensure Toorak College can continue to:

Provide exceptional academic opportunities

Offer scholarships and bursaries to students in need

Enhance facilities and preserve heritage

Encourage innovation in teaching and learning

Your gift, no matter the size, helps build a sustainable future and continues the legacy, spirit and community of Toorak College.

“I believe the most important thing we can give our children is access to the best possible education… I know firsthand how much this makes a difference to their lives and ultimate futures”

THE HAMILTON SOCIETY

Your story, your values and your hopes will be woven into the fabric of our community, creating a lasting impact for future generations of girls.

Joining the Hamilton Society is more than a gesture of generosity, it is a partnership built on trust and shared vision.

By including Toorak College in your future plans, you become part of a legacy that will shape lives for generations to come. We are committed to honouring your intention and working alongside you to ensure your gift is realised exactly as you imagine.

When you notify us of your bequest intentions, we would love the opportunity to acknowledge your generosity and welcome you into our Hamilton Society. This can include:

Be formally recognised (unless you wish to remain anonymous)

Receive invitations to exclusive Toorak College events and opportunities

Connect with like-minded members who share your values

Leave your legacy in alignment with your values.

There is no minimum gift required to become a member. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Smaller contributions, when combined with others, can create significant opportunities. Larger gifts may be directed towards major projects or scholarships. What matters most is the thought, care, and vision behind your generosity.

Many donors choose to “give whilst living”, allowing them to see and experience the impact of their generosity. Whether through an endowed scholarship, a contribution to a project, or support for a new initiative, you will have the joy of meeting the students and seeing the opportunities your gift makes possible.

NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS

THE HAMILTON SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

The Hamilton Society Scholarship is a cumulative fund established as part of The Hamilton Society. The Scholarship is for those members who wish to direct their gift towards supporting scholarships for those who would otherwise not have the means to attend Toorak College.

THE SWIFT SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Designed to inspire the next generation of females in STEM, Toorak College’s state-of-the-art Swift Science & Technology Centre opened in January 2020. THE MARGARET WALLACE REID SCHOLARSHIP

The Margaret Wallace Reid Scholarship Fund was established by Mrs Margaret Reid in appreciation of the education and opportunities provided to her by Toorak College.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

MAEVE WEEKS

2023 HAMILTON SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

I am so grateful for the Hamilton Society Scholarship and the members who have donated the money into it. Since joining Toorak, I have had so many opportunities and the teachers here are so supportive. Being here has opened my mind to what is possible. There are so many fantastic things to get involved in and there is so much on offer. I have thrown myself into GSV Basketball, GSV Netball, Aerobics and I'm learning the flute.

In the future I would love to work with kids, however, I have read that two-thirds of our year level will have careers in roles that don't exist yet which is so exciting. Things are being innovated all the time. Look at AI, that field is growing and things are happening constantly. I think someone will need to fix climate change and jobs will be created for that need soon. I can't wait to be a part of the future and that journey.
