We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?
We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it.
For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough.
When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments:
• Players will be removed from play and suspended.
• Teams can have points deducted.
• Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders.
Together we can end hate in football.
Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs.
We want everyone across grassroots football to know...
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

Visiting Club History:
Wormley Football Club was originally formed in 1921 playing its home matches on land donated by Joseph Rochford & Sons, at that time a big name in horticulture as well as being an employer of a large percentage of the local population. The Club was reformed in 1947 after the 2nd World War, moving to its present ground at Wormley Playing Fields, in Church Lane in 1954.
During the late 1940’s, 50’s and early 60’s the Club was a major force in Junior Football, frequently embarrassing more senior opposition during that period. The late 1960’s, and early 70’s saw a decline in fortune, however, this was redressed and by 1975 the Club had progressed to join the Herts Senior County League, where they had two teams performing: the first team in the Premier and the Reserves in Division 2. Despite a few near misses over the years the First team have never managed to lift the Premier Division title.
The highlight for the Reserve team was winning the Division 1 Reserve title in 1998-99 dropping only four points in the process. Since stepping up to the Herts Senior County League, the Club formed a successful Youth Section in 1975, with a number of players going on to play in professional ranks. David Bentley, Arsenal, Blackburn & Spurs began his football career with Wormley Youth as did Charlie Lee, Peterborough, Gillingham Stevenage and Yeovil Town.
The next step was the addition of a flourishing and successful Vets section in 1984. In line with League requirements, a fixed post and rail was installed in 1990, floodlights were added in 1994, and the brick-built dugouts in 1996. Adam Arnold achieved a fifth place finish in the last season of County league football before embarking in the 2018/19 campaign at step 6 in the Thurlow Nunn league.
Despite a tricky start to the season the side settled by October playing at the new level taking several scalps along the way notably inflicting the only home league defeat on eventual champions Hashtag United. A good start to the 2019/20 season saw Wormley spend much of the early season in the top five but a poor run in November and December led to a managerial change take place in February.
Jamie Elliot stepped up from assistant to take charge and with a few changes the club went on a long unbeaten run which lifted them to eighth place when the season ended due to covid19. The team had also reached the final of the Herts Centenary Trophy in which they were due to play Oxhey Jetts reserves. This game however did not take place, and the Herts F A jointly awarded the trophy. Off the field the club installed a new 75 seat stand in March and look forward to the 2020/21 season which will see the club celebrate their centenary season with celebrations hopefully taking place in the new year.
The centenary season saw us consolidate ourselves in the division with a seventh-place finish and grateful for an undisrupted season at last. Jamie retained most of the squad going into the 2022/23 season but started slowly throwing away points turning winning positions into draws which saw us struggle to climb out of the bottom half early on. September saw a managerial change Jamie Elliot moving to Cheshunt in an assistant manager role.
The Club moved quickly to appoint Ryan Wade and John Stevenson to take charge. With the addition of some players with step 5 experience the club went on an amazing run of results that took us into the top three by Christmas accompanied by a good run in the FA Vase bowing out to higher level Sheringham Town in front of a large crowd at church lane. The new year saw continued positive results and saw us go top with three
games left after beating eventual champions Frenford at home. However, the terrible April weather saw us have to play the last three games in six days which saw us drop into the play off places where we succumbed to a strong Sporting Bengal side who would gain promotion to the Essex senior league. Disappointment was compounded when Ryan Wade decided to leave for Ware FC at the start of pre-season training. A dozen players followed in various directions leaving us in a dire situation with barely a month to go before the start of the season. Dean Harrison originally appointed to assist Ryan took charge and to his credit and some players who have stayed loyal have managed to pull a squad together to get us up and running again. Dean Harrison however decided to take a lucrative position as CEO of Kent United after only six games but Ryan Wade unhappy at Ware FC was very keen to return and rebuild the squad he had assembled from last season. Ryan’s return soon took us on a run of results that saw us climb into the Promotion places and a title race with Benfleet Fc. Our encounter away at Benfleet in October, although totally dominating, resulted in a rare 2-0 defeat but one we avenged winning the return 4-0 in March to keep us hot on their heels, following this up by beating Harlow Town 4-2 to jump into top spot. This only lasted briefly as Benfleet won their game in hand and this is how it remained until the end of the season. So it was the play offs for the second year in a row. Both games were nail-biting affairs, firstly beating Clapton Community F.C 3-2 in injury time then defeating Dunmow Town 2-1, again in injury time thanks to Bradley Empson’s late winner to send a massive crowd home happy. So on to step 5 Football for season 24/25 let’s see where it takes us.
The 2024/25 season was certainly a historic season for the club being its first at step 5 football, and it proved to be a memorable one for many reasons. A fairly slow start soon gained momentum with an amazing five away win run pushing us into the top six where we would remain for most of the season to eventually claim fifth place and the last play off place. Alongside good league form several good cup runs would see us make two county cup semi finals but somewhat disappointingly we fell at the first hurdle in both FA cup and FA Vase. The Herts Senior Cup saw us narrowly lose at home to Hemel Hempstead Town in the semi after taking the scalps of higher opposition in Kings Langley and Borehamwood on the way. The Herts Charity Shield saw us score two late goals in the semi final away at Oxhey Jets to take our place in the final against Tring Athletic. We went on to lose a close final 2-1 to Tring the inform side in the South Midlands League for the last half of the season which saw them take the runners up spot in the league. Our fifth place then meant a trip to Tring for the semi final and we gained quick revenge for the previous weeks cup final loss beating them 2-1 to take our place in the play off final away to London Lions. In front of a large crowd Wormley came back from a goal down to level at 1-1 but could not find the breakthrough needed to avoid the dreaded penalty shootout. Some heroics from the London Lions keeper meant it was not to be our day and we lost out on the chance of a second successive promotion. Congratulations though to Ryan Wade and his players and staff for what was a truly fantastic ly entertaining first season at step 5 and good luck for the current campaign.

Biggleswade Town 5 vs 3 Leverstock Green Match
Report
Leverstock Green were 2-0 up inside seven minutes in Saturday’s game at Biggleswade Town, but they ultimately paid for their defensive frailty and, like last week at Lowestoft, a disappointing second half display saw them end up on the losing side. The game was barely over a minute old when Leverstock went in front. A cross from Callum Neal was blocked, but Ethan Mooney chased the ball and, just before it crossed the bye-line, clipped over a cross which found Jeffrey Sekyere coming in at the far post to apply the finishing touch.
It got even better for Leverstock in the 7th minute when a wellworked move culminated with Iker Noguera Leon finding Juan Pablo Velasco on the edge of the penalty area to hit a low shot which went in off the post for a 2-0 lead.
However, the home side hit back and were soon back in the game. In the 12th minute they pulled a goal back when Ebenezer Kufour showed persistence inside the box to shake off a couple of challenges before slotting the ball past Harry Way. And in the 17th minute Leverstock were unable to clear a corner, and Lynton Goss forced the ball home from close range in the ensuing scramble.
Having levelled the scores they could have gone in front in the 22nd minute, but shot over the bar from a good chance inside the box. Instead, the game see-sawed back in the direction of Leverstock. They should have been back in front in the 30th minute when a pass from Dan Pett allowed Leon to easily beat the home side’s high line
and go clean through on goal, but his eventual shot was slotted inches wide of the post. Leon didn’t have long to mull over his missed chance. Within two minutes Joe McCarthy was brought down on a run into the box, and the referee awarded Leverstock a penalty. Leon stepped up to take the spot kick, and despite the best efforts of the Biggleswade players to unsettle him, buried the penalty to put Leverstock back in front at 3-2.
Leverstock held their lead until half time, and might have extended it in the 50th minute when Sekyere had a run at goal, but his eventual shot was saved. They were forced into a change in the 54th minute after Velasco picked up a needless yellow card for kicking the ball away and was in danger of being provoked into a second yellow by the home side. Marcus Warren, who rejoined the club this week, came on to replace him.
Biggleswade were having most of the ball in the second half, and their pressure told in the 63rd minute when Liam Andrews met a corner unchallenged to level the scores at 3-3. Two minutes later they were in front when a ball across goal found Goss in space to shoot home his second of the game from close range.
Having taken the lead, the home side then did their utmost to slow the game down with constant time-wasting tactics. Warren came closest to getting Leverstock back in the game with a shot in the 68th minute that went just wide. Other than that, the Green side were unable to create much, and when Alfie Powell headed home unchallenged from a corner in the 80th minute to make it 5-3, the game was over. To add to Leverstock’s problems, Warren was shown a straight red card in stoppage time for words to the referee.

Match Report
On the same afternoon that the first team were beaten despite taking an early 2-0 lead, Leverstock Green Reserves did the same thing. St Margaretsbury 0 vs 3 Leverstock Green Reserves
Leverstock Green Reserves ended a run of five games without a win with a 3-0 victory away to St Margaretsbury in Tuesday night’s HSCL Premier Division game. With the Under-18s having an FA Youth Cup tie in two days, a number of first team squad players were brought in to get some minutes, and there were two new signings.
Justin Dass put Leverstock into the lead in the 6th minute with a shot from the edge of the box, and Oliver Glimas made it 2-0 in the 27th minute with a long-range shot. Dass came close to adding his second in first half stoppage time, hitting the post with a shot after the keeper had saved his first effort.
The third goal came in the 83rd minute as Glimas crossed for skipper Brandon Bromyard to head home at the far post. Substitute Oscar Roe was unlucky in the 88th minute with a shot that hit the inside of the post and came out.

Flackwell Heath 1 vs 1 Leverstock Green
Leverstock Green came away with a point from a hardfought Southern League Division One Central match at Flackwell Heath on Saturday. As has been the case in all of Leverstock’s league games since the opening 0-0 draw, they scored the game’s first goal, but having been pegged back in the second half they held on to claim a deserved point.
Fergus Moore added more experience to his back line with the signing of the much-travelled Tommy Boxer during the week, and the big central defender gave an assured performance on his debut.
The home side came close to opening the scoring in the 11th minute on a counter-attack. Eli Grant was found in space on the far side of the penalty area, and pulled it back for Jamie Ayres, whose shot was goalbound until Nat Connolly got his boot to it to deflect it wide.
Leverstock had a chance in the 20th minute when Iker Noguera Leon found himself through on keeper Jack Brooker, but didn’t make proper contact with his shot and Brooker gathered.
Two minutes later it was Joe McCarthy who was through on Brooker, and again the keeper blocked the shot, but the rebound came out to Leon, who drilled a shot from the edge of the box that went in off the post for his sixth goal of the season, putting Leverstock into a 1-0 lead.
Flackwell went close in the 25th minute when a longrange shot from Matty Ayres flew just over the bar, and again on 38 minutes when a shot from Lewis Patrick looped up from a deflection and landed on top of the bar. However, Leverstock took their narrow lead into the break.
Four minutes into the second half a cross from Juan Pablo Velasco found McCarthy coming in, but his header went over the bar, and Velasco went close himself with a chip just over the bar in the 53rd minute.
Flackwell made a double substitution in the 57th minute, and had another good chance three minutes later. A slick passing move put Matty Ayres through on goal, but Harry Way produced a great save to keep his shot out. However, in the 65th minute the scores were levelled. A free kick found its way to the far post where substitute Harlem Hale was in space to shoot past Way from close range.
Neither side had much of a clear cut chance for the remainder of the game, much of which was played in heavy rain, and Flackwell were reduced to ten men in the 83rd minute when Ayoub Igozouln was shown a straight red card for retaliation against Velasco.

LAST year’s FA Cup concluded with one of the biggest final shocks in modern history after Crystal Palace stunned Manchester City at Wembley.
And this year’s episode has started in much the same vein with cup shocks aplenty already whetting the appetite for the campaign ahead.
Take last Saturday’s preliminary round. Atherton Laburnum Rovers were handed the dream tie against higher-ranked town rivals Atherton Collieries in what was the firstever competitive Flat Cap derby.
Michael Clegg’s Collieries, from Northern Premier League Division One West were strong favourites to show their superiority but it was Step 5 LR who turned on the style in front of a near 1,000 crowd to come through 5-1 to complete one of the most famous days in the club’s history.
Victory earned Dave Jones’ North West Counties League side a potentially lucrative second qualifying round trip to Clegg’s former club, Macclesfield, where an estimated 3,000 crowd will welcome them in to Moss Rose.
“Winning the league [last season] will take some topping, but this is a close second,” Jones told our reporters afterwards. “These lads have played in so many big games now, and they just weren’t fazed.”
But you can’t talk cup upsets without mentioning Tadley Calleva.
The Combined Counties League side hosted a Weymouth team who were playing National League South football last season and welcoming popular boss Steve Claridge back in their dugout for the first time in 21 years.
But, in a lunchtime kick-off in front of the BBC cameras, Joe Lawlor’s Calleva rallied to a 4-2 victory to reach the second qualifying round for the first time in their history.
Whitstable Town know all about performing on the big occasion – they lifted the FA Vase at Wembley last season with an extra-time success over AFC Whyteleafe.
And the Oystermen were at it again last weekend when travelling a Dulwich Hamlet side who have started their Isthmian Premier season strongly under boss Mark Dacey and came away with an impressive 3-2 victory at Champion Hill.
Next up for them is a home tie against another club from the same Step 3 division, Chichester City, conquerors of Havant & Waterlooville.
While Whitstable will fancy their chances of pulling off another upset next weekend, there are a number of other clubs with one eye on a third qualifying round berth.
Stalybridge Celtic, already conquerors of former Football League clubs Bury and Workington, will be looking to add a third when they host Chester, while Step 5 Chadderton, have been rewarded for seeing off Bishop Auckland in the last round with a glamour trip to NPL Premier leaders FC United of Manchester.
Ben Herd’s Hertford Town will relish a trip to full-timers Chelmsford City, while Jersey Bulls manager Elliott Powell describes his side’s visit of Worthing as “absolutely massive” and “the biggest fixture we have ever had”.
The Rebels represent the highest-ranked side that Jersey will have faced since their foundation in 2018.
Two Step 5 sides are gearing towards huge ties against Step 2 opponents.
In the south-west, Torpoint Athletic have reached this stage for the first time in their history and make the trip to Penydarren Park to face Southern Premier Central champions Merthyr Town, while Wessex League Laverstock & Ford head to the Ray Mac Stadium to take on Salisbury.
But, arguably, the standout tie of the round sees Step 2 Enfield FC host their rivals from Step 2, Enfield Town in an intriguing match-up.
This will be the first competitive match between the two sides for over 14 years, although the pair were drawn to each other in 2021 before Enfield Town lost their replay to Hadley.
Alex Salmon’s FC underdogs need only look to Atherton LR for inspiration in a competition which just keeps producing the unexpected.
Who will be next to step up to the plate?

A few words about KitAid
KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).
After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.
How to donate
If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home.
Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.
We thank you for all your support.
In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.
