https://kitaid.net A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

Northampton Sileby Rangers History

The football club was formed in 1968 by employees of the Sileby Engineering company and started off as a Sunday League side playing in local Northampton based leagues. The club management decided to withdraw the Reserve team and Youth team from their respective divisions, with the first team finishing second from bottom in UCL Division 1 The club appointed the previously successful Glenn Botterill as manager and with the assistance of Matthew Green they won the UCL Division one title pipping the extremely ambitious AFC Rushden & Diamonds to the title by two points. The start of the new season saw the club again seeking a new manager and Scott Goodwin took over with just 3 weeks to the start of the season but, after a promising start the club parted company with Scott after only 3 months in charge. Daren Young was appointed as his replacement and after a rocky start he managed to keep he club out of the relegation zone. The last few years has seen a conveyor belt of managers coming in the space of a few seasons Lee Duffy Andy Hall, Nathan Marsh all came and went. Under the joint management team of Matt Clarke and Paul Brackwell the club almost inevitably found itself relegated to UCL Division One again. In 2018 the club appointed Mitch Austin assisted by Craig Mander and Jim Freeman in the hope the revive past fortunes but, in mid-February they and the players chose to leave the club leaving the club with no management team and no players. We were grateful to Marc Ansell and Marc Fisher for stepping in at short notice and putting together a team of local players to enable us to complete the season. The team is now under the management of experiences former UCL player Stuart Smeathers assisted by James Logan, Dino Cirelli and Aaron Clipston and in our third season in the Spartan South Midland League, we are again challenging to qualify for the end of season play offs. We start the new season still under the same stewardship and the majority of last season’s squad have resigned. With a few impressive additions we are confident of at least reaching the end of season play-offs again.

Alan Lee Reporting Leverstock Green 0 London Lions 3 Leverstock Green were dumped out of the Premier Division Cup at the first hurdle and displayed little of their sparkling league form on a disappointing night at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium. Leverstock had won 4-3 away at London Lions in the league less than a week ago, but the visitors were fully deserving of their win tonight. The Leverstock side showed several changes from Saturday’s game at Colney Heath, with some of the regulars being rested to the bench. Most of the damage in this game was done right at the start of each half. The visitors took the lead with just 52 seconds on the clock. Josh Bowler received a back pass on the left edge of his penalty area and kicked the ball clear, but it struck Lions forward Max Kyte and deflected into the path of Felix Shalom, who had the simple task of shooting into the empty net with Bowler still stranded out of his goal. Leverstock pushed forward for an equaliser, and generally had more of the ball during the first half but created little despite some promising build-up play. In the 25th minute a cross from Morgan Grout found George Mitchell-Gears, but his header from close range went wide. Two minutes later a pass from Danny May allowed Ademide Baruwa to get to the bye-line and pull the ball back, but Jayden Newman couldn’t force the ball home. In the last minute of the half the visitors almost scored a second goal in similar style to their first, but Daniel Creese shot wide from the edge of the box. In the opening minute of the second half Baruwa had a chance to score from a narrow angle, but his shot was kept out by keeper Nathan Bloohn. Instead, it was London Lions who scored the next goal in the 47th minute as a long kick from Bloohn found Austin Lipman to shoot home a classic route one goal. Leverstock rarely looked like getting back into the game, and it was the visitors who looked more likely to score with a couple of shots going just wide of the target. The Green side was reduced to ten men in the 82nd minute when Ryan Carruthers was sent to the sinbin, and in the 89th minute Lee Goldberg shot home a deserved third goal for the visitors from 25 yards out. Leverstock had a chance to net a consolation goal in stoppage time when Mitchell-Gears was brought down in the box, resulting in the award of a penalty and a red card for the Lions player. However, Ethan Mooney’s penalty was saved, and Nat Connolly’s effort from the rebound went wide, to cap off a thoroughly miserable night for the Leverstock contingent. Leverstock Green (0) 0 1. Alan Lee Reporting Harpenden Town 3 Leverstock Green 1 At half time it looked like Leverstock Green FC were set to continue their five-game winning streak in the league. They had played well and were a goal up, but a dreadful start to the second half saw Harpenden Town turn the game around and end Leverstock’s winning run. Leverstock were playing for the first time on Harpenden’s new 3G surface, which ensured there was never any doubt of the game going ahead despite all of the rain over the previous few days and were also wearing a new away strip of pink and black for the first time. After an even start to the game, Ryan Carruthers hit Leverstock’s first shot at goal in the 8th minute, but it was comfortably gathered by keeper Emmanuel Olajide. Four minutes later at the other end James Ewington was through on goal for Harpenden but hit his shot across goal and wide. In the 18th minute Jayden Newman ran down the left before cutting in and hitting a decent shot, which was gathered by Olajide. A good move in the 26th minute saw a pass from Dan Pett put Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica in behind the defence. Stefanoaica couldn’t get a shot away but set up Newman for a shot which was deflected into the side netting. Leverstock’s promising build-up play was finally rewarded with a goal on the break in the 32nd minute. A great pass from his own half by Luke Beckwith put Stefanoaica away down the right touchline, and Stefanoaica delivered a cross which found Newman with a clipped finish that went in off the post. There was almost a second goal in the 37th minute when a cross from Mikey Havill-Tierney took a big deflection off defender Lewis Williams, but luckily for him it looped up just over the bar. Leverstock Green FC took their slender lead into the break and were good value for it. However, the lead did not survive long into the second half. Harpenden attacked straight from the kick-off, and when Leverstock couldn’t clear the ball from their own six-yard box, a cross from the right was netted from close range by Ewington with just 24 seconds on the clock. It got worse for Leverstock Green FC in the 52nd minute. They were caught on the break from their own corner, and only an intervention from Stefanoaica prevented them from being clean through on goal. Alan Lee Reporting Leverstock Green Development 2 Cuffley 3 Leverstock Green Development put up a very good effort in their Herts Senior Centenary Trophy tie, but their young side were just edged out by a strong and experienced Cuffley side. Leverstock took the lead in the 19th minute. Connor McGinty made a good run down the right, and his cross found Callum Moore, whose shot was saved, but Dylan Duane-Berry followed up to net the rebound. Cuffley equalised in the 26th minute through Dan Jones, who hit a good shot from the edge of the box. Cuffley could have added a second two minutes later when Joseph Willis was clean through and attempted to send a lob over Green keeper Daniel Gee, but Gee stretched out an arm and diverted the ball away. Callum Moore went very close with a shot from outside the box in the 34th minute, and in the closing minutes of the half Gee twice denied Cuffley forward Mark Ajayi, firstly by deflecting a shot wide, and then by blocking a shot with his feet. The scores were level at the break, but Cuffley took the lead within three minutes of the restart. Drew Tyler hit a free kick from 30 yards that Gee got a hand to but could not keep out. In the 52nd minute there was a crazy goalmouth scramble in the Cuffley box following a Leverstock free kick that was not cleared, but the ball would not go in the net. The decisive moment of the game came in the 66th minute. Leverstock went very close to an equaliser with a header that was cleared off the line, but Cuffley instantly broke away, and Ajayi got the better of the sole Green defender before sending a lob over Gee to put his side 3-1 up. Leverstock brought on all five subs, and two of them combined in the 82nd minute as a crossfield ball from Schilo Kanda found Luc Dischamps, who hit a good effort that went into the side netting. In the last minute of the ninety Leverstock were given a lifeline when Dischamps was tripped in the box. The referee awarded the penalty and Callum Moore made no mistake from the spot to put his side back in the game at 2-3. Over eight minutes of stoppage time were played, and in the last of those minutes Leverstock had two good shouts for handball in the box during another goalmouth scramble in which the ball would not go in. Move On – Providing support for The Elms residents into more independent living in shared accommodation. Resettlement – Supporting clients moving from The Elms or Move On into council, social housing or private rental. Foodbank – Providing emergency food parcels and household provisions to local individuals and families. In the Community – Supporting people in the community during this cost-of-living crisis and helping reduce the need to visit our Foodbank. Social Enterprises – Developing employability skills and self-confidence in a supportive environment, while also raising income.

Development & U18’s Team News Leverstock Green Development were involved in another goal-filled game on Saturday, scoring four times but losing 6-4 away to London Lions Development. They fought back from 2-0 down to level at 2-2, but the home side re-established their lead and went on to win the game despite two late goals from the Leverstock team. Scorers were Luc Dischamps 2, Martin Kirov and Morgan Grout Leverstock Green Development lost 2 – 1 in the Norman Appleby Cup 1st round against Bovingdon Reserves, Luc Dischamps was our goal scorer with an assist from Jamie McIntosh.

The under-18s were beaten 3-0 at Dunstable Town in Thursday night’s SCFYL Corinthian Division game. The home side took the lead through an own goal late in the first half and scored two further goals in the second half. The under-18s broke their run of defeats with an excellent 2-1 win in a Brian Hitchings Cup first round tie against a Barnet U18 side at The Hive on Monday.
