A change at half time saw Archie Roberts replace Kai Sullivan, and ten minutes into the second half it was Roberts who brought Leverstock back level again as Hall again failed to cover himself in glory from a free kick. The kick was 30 yards out and to the left of the penalty area. Roberts floated his shot towards the top corner, and although Hall got a hand to it, he couldn’t keep it from going into the net. Shortly afterwards there was a lengthy stoppage for treatment to Berko’s Jake McGregor, who eventually had to be stretchered off. Once the game resumed, Leverstock went close to going in front from a goalmouth scramble but neither Roberts nor Bilal Mohammed could force the ball home.
There were some early chances for the Green side. In the 4th minute a pass from Charlie Hobbs set up a great chance for Ed Thackeray, but his shot was saved by the leg of home keeper James Hall. Three minutes later Kai Sullivan had a clear shot from the edge of the box but it went inches over the bar. On 12 minutes Callum Moore had at attempt at goal but it went wide. It looked as though those missed chances could prove costly when Berko took the lead on the break in the 15th minute. Alfie Roffey intercepted a cross field pass and ran towards goal before squaring for Godfrey Opoku to shoot home the opening goal. Opoku went close with another shot shortly afterwards, but for the remainder of the half the game went a little scrappy and niggly, with a yellow card being shown to one player from each side. A minute before the break Leverstock got back into the game through a somewhat fortuitous goal. From a free kick over 40 yards from goal, Charlie Hobbs floated the ball into the box. It should have been an easy take for keeper Hall, but the ball went through his hands and straight into the net to level the scores at 1 1.
There was furious pressure from the Berko side over the closing minutes and more than ten minutes of stoppage time, but the Green defence held their composure to hold on for an impressive win. Their reward is a home tie against Langley F.C. in the next round on Thursday 1st September.
On 69 minutes, however, Leverstock found the net again from another free kick. This time the kick was near the corner flag, and Mohammed floated the ball into the six-yard box perfectly for Dan Payne to get on the end of it with a header to put his side in front for the first time in the game.
However, there was yet more to come before half time, as in the second minute of stoppage time Berko went back in front through former Green player Nana Yeboah, who slotted home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

What does no one know about you?
What is your nickname?
DeanProfileBradford
I genuinely love them all but I would have to say Harry Bonner. I was his Youth Team Secretary since he was 13 so to see him playing now in our first team fills me with great pride and he should be an inspiration for all our under 18s and under 15s. Got to know the family well in that time too and they are great!
Honours
Leverstock Green (obviously) and Tottenham (for my sins) although Watford are fast coming up the rails as I am really falling out of love of hugely financially owned Premier League clubs! Who is your favourite player?
Where do I start? My fellow officers, Emma, Jamie, Tony, Alan and Bill are an absolute joy to work with on literally a daily basis as are our wonderful committee members and volunteers that I feel run the best club at step 5 and have yet to have been proved wrong. Then there are the management teams and players of all 3 clubs that I'm extremely proud of. At the time of writing a special shout out to Tony who has also secured the lease on Pancake Lane until at least 2047 which would take us beyond our 150th anniversary as a club.
Sussex County League (now Southern Combination) Runners Up, Young Player of the Year at Bognor Regis Town and others as a Manager/Director at the clubs mentioned above.
Scoring in the FA Cup 1st Round Proper in front of 4,000 home fans as a 16 year old f or Bognor Regis Town and becoming an instant star at school after years of just being a spotty teenager!
I'm in my dream job to be fair. I love being a club secretary of a club I live less than a mile from and feel I am in some way contributing to the success and growth of what is an amazing club surrounded by fantastic people on and off the pitch.
I ran the London Marathon in 2016. Proof you don’t have to be skinny to run 26.2 miles!
What is your favourite football team?
As a player at Bognor Regis Town, Lancing and Wick. As a manager at the same current level as Levy with Lancing, Wick, and Haywards Heath Town. After moving north of the river I was a Director at Berkhamsted in the Spartan and Southern Leagues and the Youth Team Secretary culminating in the under 16s winning the treble of the Herts County Cup, EJA League, and EJA Cup.
Describe your current role?
If you can chose what would like to be in the football world?
When did you join LGFC and what role?
What is your proudest moment in football?
Previous Clubs/Positions
I am one of the 6 officers of Leverstock Green FC and specifically the General Club Secretary of the first team, under 18s and under 15s. I am also the overly excitable voice over the tannoy on match days!
Deano by everyone except work but at school it was Tigger because I was always so happy, positive and excitable which hopefully people still think I am as I see these as good traits!
What is the best thing about LGFC?
I joined in July 2019 as the General Club Secretary

Langley FC started out as an amateur club to provide Saturday football for local talented players but since the start of the club opening, the past 12 years have seen the club continuously grow and build on its success year after year. Langley FC has become a highly successful and respected football club that has been awarded the FA Chartered Standard which recognises high quality Langleyprovision.FCcurrently holds the record for local football, from going from the bottom of amateur park football (East Berks Division 4) to now playing Step 6 Football in the Combined Counties League via the Hellenic League. This is certainly a step up for our young club after winning every domestic local honour. The senior team is currently managed by Aaron Samuel and Tom Ford. The Club is certainly an exciting one to be around and has ambitious plans. Langley FC values family and community and is very proud of its thriving full and successful youth setup, which is overseen by Adam Rathmill and the Under 18s coached and managed by First Team Manager Aaron Samuel. The youth teams continue to grow and progress season after season. The club has secured planning permission and hopes to move to our new home in Langley soon. We are currently in our third season of a ground share with Slough Town FC’s Arbour Park having spent two seasons at Holyport FC.
Langley FC – A Brief History
Langley Football Club was first formed in 2010 by two local Langley estate brothers, Peter, and Leon Phillips. The Phillips Brothers both had experience and professional backgrounds within the footballing industry. The brothers decided to start up a local team within their hometown of Langley.

VICE PRESIDENTS CLUB
The 6 remaining Step 4 Clubs and 6 remaining Step 5 Clubs are placed into geographical groupings and paired by PPG as per the Play Off Criteria
It has to be noted that the above situation is the current position and could change if the Committee feels there is a valid reason in the best interest of the NLS.
Colin Bull, Peter Dennis, Jim Doble, Peter Frasier, Roger Stokes
As in previous seasons the donations made by our Vice Presidents have assisted us in providing many improvements. Would you like to join, £25 will secure your place.
12 Clubs finishing in the bottom two across Step 5 will now be reprieved from relegation ranked on PPG.
Leverstock Green Football Club would like to thank the Vice Presidents for their help and assistance pledged for last season.
2022-23 Step 5 and Step 6 Promotion and Relegation
Changes have been made to the promotion and relegation guidelines given in the summer for Step 5 of the FA’s National League System. This is due to vacancies that have arisen in the NLS for a variety of reasons.
At Step 4, the 8 Clubs finishing 4th bottom and 2 clubs ending 3rd bottom with the highest PPG now do not have to take part in the Inter-Step Play-Offs. This leaves 6 eligible Step 4 Clubs for the Play Offs and 16 eligible 2nd placed Clubs at Step 5. As a result, the Clubs finishing in 2nd position at Step 5 are ranked on PPG with the 10 highest being automatically promoted.
