Chipperfield Corinthians FC History

Just after the turn of the last century in 1902, Chipperfield Football Club was formed, initially to play friendly games and are now in their Centenary season. Within 2 years this had become a more serious pastime and they joined the local West Herts League in 1904, which covers the Hemel Hempstead and Watford district.

In the late 1960s to early 70s the Club had a very successful period winning every thing in sight including the West Herts Premier League 7 times in succession. They joined the Herts County League in 1975.

Chipperfield Corinthians was formed in 1987 through the merger of Chipperfield and Tudor Corinthians. Tudor Corinthians could not reach Premier Division status due to the facilities at their council pitch in Croxley Green. Chipperfield were languishing in the bottom half of Division 2.

The merger was the best for all concerned and so it turned out to be in the first season. Winning Division 1, the Rickmansworth Charity Cup and also the Herts Intermediate Cup. At the beginning of the season a new Clubhouse was started. After a tremendous effort the Clubhouse was completed to coincide with promotion and ready for the first home game in the Premier Division.

In Season 1990/91, Chipperfield Corinthians won the Apsley Senior Cup. In Season 1992/3 it was 3rd time lucky in the Aubrey Cup Final with Chipperfield Corinthians beating local rivals Bovingdon, 2-0. In 1994/5 Chipperfield missed out on the league title by only 4 points, finishing 3rd. The season was finished off successfully by winning the St Mary's Cup, beating Hemel Hempstead Town 1-0 in the final.

In 1995/6 Chipperfield regained the Aubrey Cup after an exciting penalty shoot-out against Met Police. In season 1999/2000 Chipperfield won the Ricky Charity Cup and bounced back with promotion straight back to the Premier Division. Chipperfield had a Semi Final appearance in the Herts Centenary Trophy in 2002/3 and finished 6th in 2003/4. But two seasons at the wrong end of the table saw Chipperfield relegated to Division One in 2006.

The first two seasons in Division One Chipperfield just missed out on promotion by four points then three points. In 2009 Chipperfield dominated the Division with Cuffley but finished runners up with 76 points, missing out by one point.

VICE PRESIDENTS CLUB

2022-23

Leverstock Green Football Club would like to thank the Vice Presidents for their help and assistance pledged for last season.

Colin Bull, Peter Dennis, Jim Doble, Peter Frasier,

Roger Stokes

As in previous seasons the donations made by our Vice Presidents have assisted us in providing many improvements. Would you like to join, £25 will secure your place.

Step 5 and Step 6 Promotion and Relegation

Changes have been made to the promotion and relegation guidelines given in the summer for Step 5 of the FA’s National League System. This is due to vacancies that have arisen in the NLS for a variety of reasons.

At Step 4, the 8 Clubs finishing 4th bottom and 2 clubs ending 3rd bottom with the highest PPG now do not have to take part in the Inter-Step Play-Offs.

This leaves 6 eligible Step 4 Clubs for the Play-Offs and 16 eligible 2nd placed Clubs at Step 5. As a result, the Clubs finishing in 2nd position at Step 5 are ranked on PPG with the 10 highest being automatically promoted.

The 6 remaining Step 4 Clubs and 6 remaining Step 5 Clubs are placed into geographical groupings and paired by PPG as per the Play-Off Criteria

12 Clubs finishing in the bottom two across Step 5 will now be reprieved from relegation ranked on PPG. It has to be noted that the above situation is the current position and could change if the Committee feels there is a valid reason in the best interest of the NLS.
