We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?

We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it. For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough. When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments: • Players will be removed from play and suspended. • Teams can have points deducted. • Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders. Together we can end hate in football. Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs. We want everyone across grassroots football to know... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

Scott and Ferg’s 250th Game Scott and Ferg’s 250th game in charge was last week. So we would like to thank them for what they have done for the club, and for their continuing efforts to bring the club as far as they can. Dan caught up with Scott after the game and asked him some questions about the time they have been with the club. Q - Your first competitive game in charge was a 1–0 FA Cup defeat away at Stanway Rovers back in August 2021. If you could go back to that dressing room before kick-off, what would you tell yourselves knowing what the next 249 games would bring? A - I would say to trust in the process that we believed we could create from the first training session. Accept the lows and don’t get too exuberant with the highs. Q- When you took the job, did either of you genuinely believe you’d still be here 250 competitive games later? A - I definitely didn’t expect to be anywhere near 250 games. When we first joined we invited all season before squad to pre-season. And from senior players only Dan Weeks actually stayed to give us a chance. Q - Looking back at the club you inherited compared with the Leverstock Green FC of today, what do you think has changed the most? A - Well the first thing we insisted on was that the bar stays open past 5.30 on a Saturday. We made a conscious effort to make sure

that any player we signed would buy into creating a club environment that everyone can enjoy. That’s committee members, supporters and players. Q- You’ve had some incredible days at the club. If you had to pick one single moment from the first 249 games that stands above everything else, what would it be, and why? A - That’s an easy one. The play off Final. To have 1000 supporters in Pancake lane. The work everyone had to do in a few days to play the final was amazing and probably something the club will never do again. Then for the players to play the way they did in the final was just incredible. Q - And on the flip side, what has been the toughest moment you’ve experienced as managers? A - Probably last pre season. After staying at step 4 on last game of the season we hoped that players would want to return and push on the following season. This was not how it happened. We only had a few players willing to stay. Recruiting was hard due to financial constraints. Every player we approached thinks we are step 4 and loads of money like everyone else in the division. What know realised was we got promoted on no budget and stayed up on £15 a week per player. Credit must go to the group of players that stayed because result was hard to come by but they stuck at it and trusted us as staff to get players in and turn it around. Q - Last season saw the club achieve its highest-ever league finish. What did that achievement mean to you personally? A - Finishing in the clubs highest ever position of 12th at step 4 was just unbelievable. As I said last pre season was tough and then to think we entered the bottom 4 of the league around about Xmas. To

then finish 12th. All credit players who stayed and the new recruits we managed to get in. Ferg’s little black book and Aaron’s constant messaging of players really did the trick. Q - You’ve been side-by-side for 250 games. What do you think is the biggest strength of your partnership and what does the other one do that drives you absolutely mad? A- I would say our biggest strength is that we both hate losing and are passionate about football. We don’t always see eye to eye. Neither of us are yes men. We would say our point on selection of team and tactics and then between us go with what we think is best for the team for that game. As for drive me mad it has to be Ferg on the sidelines. Doesn’t matter if he is praising a player or having a go at them. It’s always in a tone that feels it’s more having a go. There is no difference. I’m sure the players always think he is having a go. Oh also when Ferg decides to show everyone his lucky Paddy power pants. Thats a sight no one needs to see. Q - When your time at Leverstock Green eventually comes to an end, what do you hope people will say about Scott and Fergie’s time in charge? A - As for after we go you hope that supporters and club staff will see that we created that environment we promised in the interview. A club everyone can be proud of. That we also achieved promotion and cup wins during our time with memories for everyone associated with the club. The truth is what people say will not bother me at all. As it will probably mean we have been sacked so people will think that we deserved to go as results not good enough.

Visiting Club History: Biggleswade FC – A Brief Club History Biggleswade FC was formed in May 2016 from the highly successful Biggleswade Town Under 18s, who had dominated the Thurlow Nunn Youth League from 2014–2016, winning consecutive Champions Trophies. That era also saw striker Keinan Davis earn a professional contract with Aston Villa. With no pathway beyond youth football at Biggleswade Town, a new senior club was created, securing a groundshare at Langford Road and earning a place in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One. Early Success (2016–2019) In their debut 2016/17 season, Biggleswade FC won the SSML Division One title with 99 points, gaining promotion to the Premier Division. The club quickly built strong community links and attracted growing crowds. The 2017/18 season brought a memorable FA Vase run to the last 32, while a reserve team were also established. In 2018/19, FC claimed a league and cup treble — winning the SSML Premier Division, Premier Division Cup, and North Beds Charity Cup — alongside another strong FA Vase quarter-final run and a reserve team league and cup double. Climbing the Pyramid (2019–2022) 2019/20 saw Biggleswade debut in the Southern League (Step 4), enduring a tough start but finishing strongly before COVID-19 halted the season. The pandemic-disrupted 2020/21 campaign included another FA Cup run before the club relocated to Bedford Town’s ground The Eyrie. In 2021/22, FC recovered from a poor start to go 12 games unbeaten, finishing 9th in the Southern League Division One Central, with the reserves once again completing a league and cup double. Play-offs, Cup Finals & Silverware (2022–2024) The 2022/23 season delivered FC’s highest-ever league finish (2nd) and first promotion play-off, though Ware ended the dream winning 4-1 in the semi-final. They also reached their first Beds Senior Cup final, losing to Luton Town Development. In 2023/24, redemption came with a 1-0 victory over AFC Dunstable in the Beds Senior Cup final, the club’s first triumph in the competition. Earlier in this campaign, rising star Pemi Aderoju earned a move to Peterborough United after scoring 12 goals in 12 games. Making History (2024–Present) The 2024/25 campaign saw FC finish 8th but enjoy their best-ever FA Cup run, reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round. Wins over Stansted, London Lions, Basildon United, AFC Dunstable, and Canvey Island set up a historic tie against National League York City. In front of a record crowd of 1,180, FC battled bravely before falling 3-1. In the 2025/26 season, Biggleswade FC finish third in the league and gave them qualification into the promotional play-offs. FC faced their local rivals Biggleswade Town in the semi-final. Goals from long serving players Michael Simpson and Tom Coles gave FC a 2-1 victory. This could not have been more perfect to symbolise the continuity and stability of the club. Unfortunately, in front of 3,000 spectators, FC lost the play-off final to Hitchin Town 2-1 who had finished second in the league. Although, the result of the final was disappointing, the club recorded more wins and scoring more goals that ever in a season at Step 4 football. From their youth team origins to league titles, cup victories, and record crowds, Biggleswade FC has quickly built a proud reputation as a progressive, ambitious club with deep community roots and an exciting future.

Visiting Club Pen Pics:

Adam Hunt (Defender) Ex-MK Dons academy player, “Hunty” is an exciting attacking right back. Captained FC to the SSML Division One title in the club's debut 2016/17 season. His performances got him a move to Welwyn Garden City for 2018/19 and despite some good performances for The Citizens, Adam decided to "come home" soon after. A real class act who holds the current club record for most appearances with over 300 to date. Luke Oswick (Defender) Luke arrived from Royston Town in July 2019 and featured as a left back initially. However, having picked up some injuries at centre half, he was moved into the heart of the FC defence. Had a short spell at Stotfold before resigning. Over 150 appearances for the club to date, scoring two goals. Leo Jenkins (Defender) Leo was training with Hitchin Town following his release from Northampton Town. A couple of impressive pre-season performances, saw FC snap up the promising young centre half. He has become a permanent member of FC’s defence. Lawrie Marsh (Defender/Midfield) Became FC’s club captain following the retirement of Tom Coles. A December 2021 re-signing from Hitchin Town. Lawrie has a terrific engine and has the versatility to play in a number of positions. A real leader and a driver of high standards within the group. Second to only Adam Hunt in the all-time appearances list with over 250 appearances to date Michael Simpson (Defender/Midfield) “Simo” arrived from Stotfold in July 2018 having been on FC’s wanted list for a while. Another player who offers great versatility. He has suffered with his fair share of injuries over the past few seasons, but he is a solid and dependable player who rarely has a bad game when fit. Seventh on the all-time FC appearances list with over 200 appearances to date. Rio Martucci (Midfield)

Rio signed for the club following his release from Luton Town. The 21-year-old is a classy ball player with a terrific engine. Had to bide his time initially, but since breaking into the starting XI he has made the number 8 shirt his own. Conor Inskip (Midfield) Back for his second spell at the club after three seasons away. Conor finished the season with us having played over 80 times for cross-town rivals Biggleswade United. In an area of the field where FC are stacked with options, Conor has impressed and forced his way into the starting XI and has become an important member of the team.

Daniel Bond (Forward) “Bondy” arrived from neighbours Langford in November 2019 having scored 12 goals in 16 appearances in a short stint at Forde Park. A regular goalscorer at Stotfold in the SSML before goalscoring spells at Step 4 with Hertford Town and Welwyn Garden City. Enjoyed his best goalscoring return for the club in 2024-25, finishing as FC’s leading marksman with 17 goals. Alex Marsh (Forward) The club were thrilled to re-sign their all-time leading goalscorer from Hitchin Town in September 2021. “Marshy” has been influential since his return and FC missed his goals last term as he spent the whole campaign on the sidelines out injured. On his own at the top of the all-time list with 129 goals to date. Sonny Coughlin-Brown (Forward) Another exciting young attacking player. Sonny previously caught the eye playing against us for Hertford Town before making the switch from Hertingfordbury Park. He has become an important squad member and unfortunately he has been unavailable is season due to a serious injury suffered in pre-season. Rafal Wielblad (Forward) A young forward signed from Kempston Rovers after scoring against FC in the Beds Senior Cup. An exciting talent who has already popped up with a couple of goals despite suffering a dislocated shoulder not long after his arrival. A terrific work ethic and certainly one to watch for the future.

Match Reports

St Albans City U18

1 vs 3

Leverstock Green U18

Leverstock Green’s Under-18s produced another outstanding result as they won 3-1 at St Albans City in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday. Two quick goals from Sam Brewster in the 12th and 14th minutes got the Green side off to a great start, and Lucas Hammer added a third just before half time. The home side pulled one back late in the game but it was too late to stop Leverstock progressing to the Third Qualifying Round, where they will face an away tie at Chelmsford City on a date to be arranged.

Leverstock Green Town

1 vs 2

Beaconsfield

Leverstock Green were unable to follow up their impressive midweek win against Ware as they fell to a home defeat against Beaconsfield Town on Saturday. They made a bright start to the game and took the lead in the 13th minute as Iker Noguera Leon scored his fourth goal in three games, hitting a shot on the run from the edge of the box which bounced in front of keeper Ezekiel Ifekoya and went into the net. They had chances to extend their lead. In the 20th minute Ifekoya couldn’t hold onto a free kick floated in by Marcus Warren, and the ball dropped at the feet of Timi Bada, but Ifekoya recovered to save Bada’s shot. In the 31st minute a shot from Joe McCarthy was saved by Ifekoya and hit the post, but fortunately for the keeper rebounded back into his hands. Leverstock had been on top up to this point, but in the 35th minute the scores were levelled as Blaaze Lawrence pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the Green box to shoot home the equaliser past Ryan North. There was another great chance for Leverstock

in the 42nd minute as McCarthy was through on goal, but Ifekoya saved well to keep out McCarthy’s shot. Having played well in the first half, Leverstock’s performance in the second half was somewhat disappointing. Beaconsfield looked like they had taken the lead in the 52nd minute as North spilled a routine shot from Freddie Ford and Mekhai Bessasa-Grant netted the loose ball, but the offside flag was up. Two minutes later Leverstock had a chance as a long ball allowed McCarthy to get the wrong side of the last defender, but instead of finishing himself McCarthy opted to square to Bada, and the ball didn’t get there. Beaconsfield were looking the more dangerous side, and they were given the chance to go in front in the 71st minute when George Mitchell-Gears’ challenge brought down an attacker in the box, and the referee awarded the penalty. Lawrence netted the spot kick for his second goal of the game. Leverstock tried to put pressure on the Beaconsfield goal over the closing minutes, but the visitors defended very well, always finding the vital block or header away. A cross from Dan Pett in the 75th minute went across the face of goal but Jack Allen couldn’t get his boot on it. By the end of the game

Leverstock had two 16 year olds on the pitch, with Ashton Corder being joined by Lucas Hammer, another of the under-18 side to have stepped up to the first team. Deep into stoppage time a shot from Corder was blocked and the rebound came to Hammer, but he couldn’t keep his shot under the bar. Leverstock Green (1) 1 (Leon 13) 1. Ryan North, 2. Callum Neal, 3. Leverstock Green U18 Saints U18

5 vs 0

Shefford

Leverstock Green’s Under-18s made it three wins from three games in the SCFYL Corinthian Division on Thursday night. Lucas Hammer broke the deadlock with a goal in the 37th minute before four more goals were added in the second half from Finley Clark (58′), Sam Brewster (63′), Hammer again (65′) and Ashton Corder (81′).

Thame United

2 vs 3

Leverstock Green

Having been beaten 4-0 on their previous two visits, Leverstock Green could have approached Saturday’s game at the ASM Stadium with some trepidation, but instead they turned in a superb performance to earn their first away league win of the season despite Thame United twice coming back to level the score. Leverstock got off to a great start with a goal in the 4th minute. Callum Neal made a run into the box and couldn’t get a shot off himself, but instead laid off to Iker Noguera Leon, who slotted a low shot through a crowd of players out of the reach of keeper James Callan for a 1-0 lead. It could have been 2-0 in the 16th minute as firstly Leon had a shot turned away by Callan, and a few seconds later Ademide Baruwa hit a shot which beat Callan but hit the far post. Having had much the better of the game for 40 minutes, Leverstock came under some pressure from Thame in the last five minutes of the half. Harry Alexander hit a shot just over the bar in the 42nd minute, a goal from a header was disallowed for a push in the 44th minute, and finally Jack

Tutton hit a low shot from outside the box in stoppage time which went through everyone for the equaliser. Thame continued to threaten in the opening minutes of the second half. Ryan North produced a close-range save to deny Alexander in the 48th minute, saved again in the 55th minute when Roger James was clean through on goal, and kept out a shot from Greg Hackett. A minute later it was Leverstock who were threatening as Leon dribbled through the whole of the defence to be clean through, but didn’t get his shot away and eventually ran into Callan. In the 62nd minute Nat Connolly set up a great shooting opportunity for Joe McCarthy, but his shot was saved by Callan. However, the running of Leon and McCarthy was causing all sorts of problems for the Thame defence, and seconds later Leon was through again. Callan saved his shot, but McCarthy followed up to net the rebound and put Leverstock back into the lead at 2-1. Their lead was very short-lived though. Within 30 seconds of the restart Thame were on the attack, and when Joshua Stranks got in behind Neal, and Neal’s challenge brought him down, it was inevitable that the referee would point to the penalty spot. Alexander gave North no chance from the spot kick and the scores were back level at 2-2. But Leverstock weren’t finished yet. In the 71st minute it was their skipper Dan Pett, playing his 199th game for the club, who made a run into the box. Pett rode a challenge

that undoubtedly would have resulted in a penalty had he gone down, but he stayed on his feet and ran on to beat Callan at his near post and put Leverstock in front for the third time. They had chances to make the game safe over the closing minutes, with Callan producing good saves to turn away shots from Ryan Carruthers and Marcus Warren, and Jack Allen shooting over the bar from a good chance. There were a couple of nervous moments in their box during stoppage time, but Leverstock held on for an impressive and fullydeserved win. Thame United (1) 2 (Tutton 45, Alexander 65 pen) 1. James Callan, 2. Joshua Stranks, 3. Aydin Ulas (16. Curtis Brown 63 mins), 4. Finlay Murray, 5. Hayden Beadle (12. Ethan Lack H/T)(14. Charlie Bacon 84 mins), 6. Mark Riddick (15. Edwin Daffern 77 mins), 7. Greg Hackett, 8. Jack Tutton, 9. Roger James, 10. Dan West, 11. Harry Alexander. Leverstock Green (1) 3 (Leon 4, McCarthy 62, Pett 71) 1. Ryan North, 2. Callum Neal, 3. Vladyslav Karuchok, 4. George Mitchell-Gears, 5. Kombe Kawimbe, 6. Ryan Carruthers, 7. Ademide Baruwa, 8. Dan Pett, 9. Joe McCarthy, 10. Nat Connolly (16. Marcus Warren 73 mins), 11. Leverstock Green

1 vs 1

Tring Athletic

Leverstock Green progressed to the second round of the Herts Senior Cup after a penalty shoot-out victory over local rivals Tring Athletic in Tuesday night’s first round tie. Leverstock created enough chances to win the game in normal time, but a late Tring equaliser sent the tie into penalties. Leverstock made a bright start with Timi Bada looking particularly lively, in the third minute he put a ball across goal that Jack Allen just failed to connect with. In the 6th minute Ryan Carruthers had an effort from distance which went just wide, and four minutes later Nat Connolly shot over the bar after Callum Neal’s shot had been parried. In the 20th minute Neal headed straight at the keeper from a Bada cross. Tring started to come more into the game, and Ryan North had to tip a shot from Blake Argent over the bar in the 23rd minute. Allen was unlucky in the 35th minute when his shot was turned onto the post by the keeper, and Bada went on a solo run in the 39th minute but couldn’t put the ball past the keeper. Eventually in the last minute of the half a long throw from George Mitchell-Gears caused a scramble in the Tring box and Allen volleyed home from close range to put Leverstock in front.

Tring could have levelled in the 50th minute when Harry Shepherd broke away on a solo run but his shot went across goal and wide, and Neal was just wide for Leverstock with an effort in the 62nd minute. Tring made a quadruple substitution midway through the half, bringing on some of their bigger guns who had been rested from the start, and eventually Leverstock were made to pay for having not taken their earlier chances. In the 83rd minute a free kick from the right touchline caused a scramble in the Leverstock box and Caden Barber put the ball away for the equaliser. Either side might have won the tie in the remaining minutes, with Joe McCarthy having a shot well saved by the keeper, but the score remained unchanged and the game went to penalties. Allen scored Leverstock’s first kick, and North turned George Devine’s kick over the bar to give the Green side the early advantage. Ademide Baruwa, Iker Noguera Leon and George Mitchell-Gears were all successful for Leverstock before Barber blazed Tring’s fourth kick over the bar to put Leverstock through 4-2 on penalties. Leverstock Green (1) 1 (Allen 45) 1. Ryan North, 2. Callum Neal (16. Aldo Petagine 75 mins), 3. Vladyslav Karuchok, 4. George Mitchell-Gears, 5. Kombe Kawimbe, 6. Ryan Carruthers, 7. Timi Bada (15. Joe McCarthy 82 mins), 8. Marcus Warren, 9. Jack Allen, 10.

By Matthew Badock, Editor, The Non-League Paper ONE GAME – possibly two if it goes to a replay – away from the dream draw. This week, 64 Non-League teams will fight it out for a place in the FA Cup first round. Leicester City at home? Sheffield Wednesday away? It won’t happen if you’re not in Monday’s draw. In many ways, the fourth round qualifying has the feel of the first round proper these days, with so many ex-Football League club names scattered throughout Non-League’s top two tiers. And it promises to be an action-packed Saturday. Step 4 AFC Rushden & Diamonds are, of course, the next guise of the former Football League club and they take on Morecambe this weekend after knocking out National League South Braintree.

“The club are absolutely buzzing,” boss Elliot Sandy said. “It’s a fan-owned club so there are so many volunteers working tirelessly to make the club run like it runs. “I get the easy bit. We work hard but we’ve just got to concentrate on the football. Without all the people behind us, it would be impossible to do what we’re doing on the pitch. “I thank all the volunteers regularly because without them we couldn’t do what we’re doing at the minute.” Stafford Rangers are also a Step 4 side dreaming big – they’ve already seen off Hereford and Halesowen to set-up a trip to struggling Gateshead. Boss Graham Deakin said: “I am so confident in our group. Regardless of the troubles (Gateshead) have off the pitch it will be very difficult but we go there full of confidence – we have to with the start we have had. “We can only control what we can control. If we are on it then we will give anyone a game, I really believe that. Hopefully we can cause another shock.” For some it’s about avoiding a shock. Chorley boss Andy Preece will take on his boyhood club Worcester City, the place his career began and a club he managed in the FA Cup second round against Huddersfield. “Without Worcester City I wouldn’t have had the career I have,” Preece said.

“I was 17 when I made my debut against Scarborough at home from the bench. I could not breathe! The game was so fast. I probably touched the ball four times.” Leatherhead host Yeovil Town in another eye-catching tie, FC United are making the short trip to Altrincham. Then there are the two remaining Step 5 sides. SE Dons, who beat Weymouth to reach this stage, are off to Sholing and Tadley Calleva make the short trip to Aldershot Town. “Tadley is a small village,” manager Joe Lawler said. “We continue to be underdogs. But it's all about the magic of the FA Cup and trying to dream big. We've done that this year and we've had a superb run. We'll go to Aldershot full of confidence, and we'll give it our best shot. “We’ve beaten the odds in the last two years, and being in the first round draw would just be another magical thing for the club.”

A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world. How to donate If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home. Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible. We thank you for all your support. In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come. Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football Association
