Today, the office boasts a robust corporate practice, with specialties in private equity, distressed debt, mergers and acquisitions, energy finance and financial restructuring. Corporate partner Mark Palmer agreed. “We’re not just an office outpost; our strategy is to bat in the Major Leagues. We’re in the mix at the high end of the market.” Palmer, who heads up the office’s corporate practice and private investment funds practice, enjoys the freedom to develop his practice areas. “Lawyers with meaningful practices love that latitude.” Connolly said that the pioneering spirit has helped cultivate a strong team atmosphere. “We’re building on Bracewell’s great culture. Associates have a tremendous amount of contact with partners. We have strong mentor relationships and great team spirit,” he said. For New York energy finance partner and Houston transplant Robin Miles, it has been exciting to see the office grow. “Three years have passed extremely fast. It has been great to experience that growth in person. The energy and camaraderie of the office are incredible. I can’t wait to see what we do in the next three years!”
