In celebration of Kenneth Williams’ 100th Birthday, David Benson revisits his classic portrait of the much-missed Carry On star and gives an unsparing portrayal of the tormented comic genius.

THE BROTHERS

Tonbridge School present a new translation of Terence’s The Brothers.

This classic Roman comedy, a tale of misunderstandings and family conflict, is set against a modern backdrop, a far cry from its first performance in 160BC. This is an outdoor production performed in the Tonbridge School Library Gardens. Be sure to bring something to sit on and dress for the weather.

TONBRIDGE COMEDY NIGHT

Our monthly comedy nights return.

We welcome three of the best comedians on the circuit to our studio theatre. This season we will bring you comedy from Naomi Cooper, Ash Frith, Alistair Barrie, Tom Wrigglesworth, Stuart Laws and Adam Morrison.

Tonbridge School present their adaptation of Orwell’s classic tale.

In a world governed by rules and routine, a group of animals dare to dream of a different world where all are equal and everyone belongs.

But as power begins to concentrate in the hands of a few, what started as a revolution slowly transforms into something disturbingly familiar.

Join the troupe for a fantastically funny bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’.

In the Forest of Arden the stage is set for a full-throttle joyride of wooing, hilarious mistaken identity and the odd wrestling match.

This is an outdoor production, so please bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather!

ALLAN BUNNY CONCERT: THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

OT’s, staff and students at Tonbridge School join together to present an evening showcasing the brilliance of American songwriting, starting with musical theatre classics from Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, before moving to more recent popular song from Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach to Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Paul Simon.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD

When a young man walks into a pub claiming that he’s killed his father, rather than being shunned he becomes a local hero.

Nicola Coughlan joins Éanna Hardwicke and Siobhán McSweeney in John Millington Synge’s riveting play of youth and self-discovery.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES

Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) joins Aidan Turner (Rivals) in a striking new staging of the classic novel.

Among the glittering salons of the super-rich, patriarchy equals power, reputation is everything –and for women, one misstep can mean ruin. This is a thrilling game of love, lies and social warfare.

THUR 2 ND JULY 7.30PM

BALLET CENTRAL

Returning with a new company of dancers and revitalising programme of classical ballet and contemporary dance, the evening includes a mixed bill of four works.

See the quirky, dream-like world of Solitaire by Kenneth MacMillan, plus the glamorous Times Square Ballet, an excerpt from Ashley Page’s musical On The Town.

Two new commissions are presented from distinctive choreographers Monique Jonas and Cameron McMillan.
