Ahealth and wellness store has been a fixture in downtown Plymouth for years, and last December Jennifer Criddle bought the shop to continue offering health and wellness products, as well as expand services aimed at helping people enjoy optimal health.

For nearly 25 years, Criddle worked as a registered nurse in the greater Marshall County area. Most of her work took place in a hospital setting, and now she is delighted to expand her services as a holistic health and wellness coach.

Criddle describes her approach as “holistic, because I meet with people and listen to their concerns. If your body is telling you something is not right, then together we can explore an extensive health history to pinpoint the cause of not feeling well.” This customized approach sets her apart from other health care providers, because she focuses on exploring lifestyle changes tailored to a

person’s needs that can lead to improved health.

As a health and wellness coach, Criddle recognizes the value of both medical and holistic health management. She can order lab services such as blood work and functional medicine labs, which can aid in ruling out suspected medical issues. Criddle’s priority is getting to the root cause of a person’s health concern. “Maybe the answer is more testing, maybe supplements, and maybe it’s centered in lifestyle such as food allergy,” she says. “All of these efforts fall under the umbrella of functional medicine to better understand and resolve health issues.”

Coaching is a pattern of re-evaluating and adjusting, in partnership with the person facing health concerns, to determine the core origin of a health issue. Criddle keeps the conversation going until the health issue is resolved. Criddle evaluates a person’s specific needs and,

when appropriate, refers to the right professional. For example, in a scenario where a person is experiencing trauma, Criddle can make a referral to a specialized trauma coach. Helping people means using all the resources available. “I am eager to explore ways to collaborate with doctors and

other practitioners in the area,” she says.

Criddle also describes her coaching as a “preventative approach to wellness by narrowing in on health concerns before they become more serious.” Preventative care includes nutrition, and customers will find

a wide array of vitamins and other dietary supplements, as well as body care products. The health and wellness store offers services designed to promote good health, including massage therapy to target muscle tension, and thermography, which measures the body’s temperature sensitivity and can

indicate inflammation related to disease.

Criddle’s nurturing nature comes naturally as a mom and grandmother herself. She welcomes the change from the frenetic pace of being a hospital registered nurse, and finds interacting with customers a fulfilling opportunity to discuss health concerns. “Someone may come in looking for a product,

and through thoughtful conversation could end up a client I am able to coach down a path of feeling better,” she says.

Health and wellness coaching begins with a 15-minute discovery session, followed by a one-hour, deep-dive discussion. She encourages monthly maintenance visits, offered at $50 per month. Anyone under

her coaching receives a 10% discount off nutritional supplements.

Pam Olson, co-owner of Moss Creek Golf Course & Banquet Center, says the golf course is popular because it offers a nice variety of what golfers are looking for.

“Moss Creek Golf Course offers terrific views and challenging play for golfers at every skill level,” Olson said. “You will

find the course to be one that many firsttime visitors believe they will shoot well under their handicap, yet leave wondering why that didn’t happen.”

Olson noted that golfers enjoy the atmosphere.

“Moss Creek is family owned and operated,” she said. “The owners are Tony

Olson and Tara Wildermuth, Paul and Julie Olson Zeikle, and myself.”

Olson said Moss Creek has been around for a long time.

“Located five miles southwest of Winamac, in Pulaski County, Indiana, Moss Creek Golf Course opened for play in 1959 as a nine-hole course,” Olson said. “It was owned by nine men, who each designed one hole. The course was sold in 1985, and the back nine was shortly added, making it a par-70 course.”

The Olson/Zeikle family purchased Moss Creek in 2017 and is excited to be going into their eighth year of ownership.

“We have enjoyed getting to know our golfers, some of which have been playing here since it opened 65 years ago,” Olson said. “We love to see families and multiple generations of golfers come out and play.”

Olson added that Moss Creek is a course well worth trying, and deserving of its reputation as one of the finest courses in northern Indiana.

“Moss Creek has a traditional layout with varying obstacles,” Olson said. “Half of the course cuts through wooded areas and other parts take on the waters of Moss Creek. While there are a number of cart bridges that cross water along the course, golfers must cross over water seven times on the front nine alone. After you tee off on the 323-yard 11th hole, you will pass through a red covered bridge en route to the elevated green.”

“We have a twilight special starting at 4 p.m.,” Olson said. “That is $41 on weekends and holidays, and $31 during the week. We recommend that people call the clubhouse and make a tee time, especially on a weekend or holiday, as we can be very busy.”

Olson noted that Moss Creek has a small pro shop in their clubhouse that offers several golf-related items such as balls, gloves, tees and towels.

“We also have Moss Creek logo items such as hats, polo shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, umbrellas and other items,” Pam said.

Moss Creek also has a bar with tasty food.

“During the golf season, we have a fully stocked bar and serve lunch and dinner,” Olson said. “The menu consists of options such as hot dogs, cheeseburgers,

The clubhouse is available for rent for special events such as company parties, bridal or baby showers, birthdays or anniversaries.

“We can offer banquet food for events, which can be customized for the event,” Olson said.

Olson said Moss Creek offers economically priced memberships including youth (18 and under), adult single or adult couple (19 to 61), senior or senior couple (62 and over), and family.

“We also offer regular or weekday-only cart memberships,” Olson said. “We also have an annual members-only tournament called ‘Boss of the Moss.’”

Olson said Moss Creek is truly a familyrun business.

“Tony is the course manager running the day-to-day operations, along with his longtime girlfriend, Tara Wildermuth,” Olson said. “They can be seen most evenings and weekends in the clubhouse checking people in, serving drinks at the bar, or preparing and serving food.”

Tara’s daughter, Tori Wildermuth, is the clubhouse manager.

Pam and Julie handle administrative work and can sometimes be found working in the clubhouse.

Olson said amenities at Moss Creek include power and pull carts, club rental, putting and chipping green, and oncourse restrooms.

Sometimes, the most profound

At the Oak Tree Lodge, shrouded within a wooded enclave of trees in rural Starke County, serenity and calm resonate with guests from the moment of arrival to the time of departure. And that is exactly how Owner Linda Banasiak envisioned it.

Even so, the new lodge encompasses a

reimagining from its original purpose, one that holds a tremendous amount of nostalgia for Linda. Her late husband, Phil, built the enormous, barn-influenced shop in the 1980s as a place to shelter farm implements and handle farming machinery maintenance. The couple was then serving as stewards of the land with a vast farming operation that spanned some 2,000 acres. With the support and assistance of the Banasiak family and their loyal friends, Phil was able to create a

structure of immense proportions, 96-by48 feet in total.

Then in 2013, Phil passed away. For a time the building that had been such a labor of love for the family sat silently, floundering in its purpose. But then, Linda was seized by inspiration.

“I was seeking to augment my income and I could see its potential,” she said. “I recognized the need for significant

repairs, including replacing deteriorating lumber and metal siding, so I teamed up with Rich Archer to devise a plan to transform the shop into a rental lodge.”

In Archer, Linda found both a partner and a blessing. She often references his talents and skills as “magical.” Through his tireless efforts, combined with the ongoing vision and efforts from that same heart-bonded group as before, Linda’s dream came to fruition in the span of nine months. Then, as now, friends and family were an integral part in the lodge’s completion.

The name of this countryside getaway was chosen deliberately, Banasiak said, as a testament to the strength and character that oak trees have come to represent. “It pays homage to the abundance of oak trees in the area, symbolizing strength, endurance, protection, success and stability,” she said.

spot, and as such, offers a unique spin on the traditional hotel stay, while offering a measure of self-sufficiency and privacy. The design is intentional, to closely encompass all of the comforts of home, such as a working kitchen well-stocked with

appliances and dinnerware. There are two private bedrooms on the main level, and an open-air concept on the second level, with beds at each end of the wing. They can be sectioned off with curtains for a more intimate feel.

On the main floor, there are two spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers, with toiletries and linens provided. The living space is tastefully adorned with farmhouse flair and a barn-themed motif, with comfy couches, throw blankets and a dining room table. Pets are welcome at the Oak Tree Lodge, with an area beneath one set of stairs that can comfortably accommodate your furry family members.

As the weather transitions to summertime, guests can immerse themselves in the

natural surroundings by gathering around the fire pit, spending time at the grill or navigating the landscape. Linda and Rich expressed a desire to cultivate a walking path through the adjacent woods, and have already taken steps, so to speak, to make that a reality. The spirit of the Oak Tree Lodge is quite evident before guests even cross the threshold of the entrance, with a trio of signs along the driveway’s edge that invite folks to “rest, relax, and renew.” The venue is also an inviting space for folks who seek lodging options for weddings, bridal

parties and other group events.

What began as a mere dream for Richard and Rachel Fry became a reality several years ago, when Richard heard the news of a Shipshewana restaurant that was going up for sale.

What intrigued him was the restaurant business in general, but also the breakfast and lunch hours. After working in the management business for more than 10 years, Richard was ready for a change of pace. The husband-and-wife team now has grandkids, as well as children still living at home. Purchasing the restaurant seemed like the perfect opportunity to be able to spend more time with family and friends.

After purchasing the restaurant, known as Country Corral Restaurant, Richard and Rachel got right to work. Richard is in charge of daily operations, including hiring and firing, to create a friendly and professional team. Whether you are interested in being a server, hostess or cook, Richard is who you will meet with.

Rachel is in charge of creating mouth-watering dishes from scratch. One of her most popular items that people travel near and far to enjoy is her homemade cinnamon roll. Customers can enjoy this sweet treat in the restaurant with a cup of coffee or juice, or simply swing by and take some to go. However, make sure to get there before they are all gone.

As far as the rest of the menu goes, customers can enjoy delicious breakfast and lunch items. Start your day off right with popular items such as stuffed French toast, blueberry pancakes, farm-fresh eggs with hash browns, a country scramble, homestyle omelets, and biscuits and gravy, just to name a few. You can also choose something on the lighter side like fresh fruit, oatmeal and cold cereal.

Although located in the small town of Shipshewana, Richard notes how customers come from near and far to enjoy their homestyle meals. There are the regulars, and some individuals travel from Michigan, Ohio and even Chicago to enjoy the delicious menu options and cozy dining experience.

As business continues to boom, Richard and Rachel have considered expanding the restaurant. However, Richard says “bigger isn’t always better” and many customers like the restaurant just the way it is. Instead, Country Corral is considering adding a banquet hall right inside the restaurant. This would allow for groups of family, friends,

What were some of your father’s favorite dishes, and where did he prefer to eat his meals? Did you sit around a kitchen table and talk about your day? Maybe he ate in the living room while watching his favorite television program. It could have been a show that the whole family enjoyed. If so, what did he watch? Do you find yourself still preparing the same kind of dishes for you or your own family? Did your father tell you to eat all your vegetables because they were good for you? Even those round canned peas you didn’t like so much. What about barbecues outside? Perhaps you are thinking of your dad cooking over the grill to make hamburgers and hot dogs, probably smelling like smoke, but you were getting excited because you knew the food was going to be done soon. Yes, there are definitely certain smells and fragrances that can remind us of our dads.

One of my fond memories is that my father would take each kid out individually for a Coke. We could sit and visit him with

no interruptions from other siblings. I could talk to him about anything that was on my mind, and know I had his full attention, maybe even his advice. I really looked forward to this special time with my dad. He took out all six children, rotating each kid every Sunday. To this day I still love to go out - except now it’s coffee instead of Coke - and just sit and talk about what is on my mind. Whether it’s a big issue or nothing too exciting, it’s something I still look forward to.

Father’s Day can bring about many different feelings. The memories can be exclusively positive, but not necessarily for everyone. For some, thinking of their dad only stirs up sadness. Others may not have had a father in their lives at all. Still, there is the possibility that your father is no longer here and you just miss him deeply

As a child hanging out with your dad, maybe he was a superhero, someone you looked up to, flawless and never seeming to make any mistakes. Of course when you are older you find out that they are human like the rest of us. Still, for the most part, you think they’re pretty fabulous. Maybe he worked really hard to take care of the family - day shift, night shift, long hours in the office or at a factory. He could have even been on the road driving a big truck, making sure there were always clothes to wear so you stayed warm in the winter and cool in the summer. There was food on the table to eat.

It is nice to see how I have taken some of these memories and made them my own. My mother used to make tapioca pudding for my dad and he really liked it. She is no longer here, so for Father’s Day I make him homemade tapioca pudding and he absolutely loves it. It’s just a small way to show him that I love him. Isn’t it funny how food can be used to show someone you care? It’s a way to bring friends and family together. Food is so much more than just nourishment. It’s a way of connecting with other people and having a good time doing it.

If we give thought to the matter at all, most of us attribute the origins of the megahit movies, TV shows, toys, and e verything else franchise “Star Wars” to its creator and initial writer, George Lucas -- which is certainly correct and fair enough.

But few of us likely realize that what we think of visually with regards to the Star Wars universe -- especially its initial design

work -- from the look of the many spaceships, weapons, and landscapes, to that villain-of-villains, Darth Vader himself, is owed to a Lake County, Indiana man.

Ralph Angus McQuarrie was born June 13th, 1929, in Gary, Indiana, the son of parents who were both artists themselves, though Ralph started his formal art training at the age of 10.

McQuarrie’s family moved to Billings, Montana during his childhood, followed by moves to the west coast and Canada. After graduating high school, he went on to serve in the Korean War, where he survived being shot in the head due to the unlikely interference of his helmet lining.

McQuarrie went on to study at the Art Centre College of Design in California after which he took a job with the Boeing Company in Seattle as a technical illustrator. Eventually moving to California, he would produce art for NASA that was used on the CBS News live coverage of the Apollo space program that was viewed by millions. While in California, he began doing freelance artwork for movie studios, painting background scenes for animated programs and generating artwork for movie posters.

McQuarrie’s providential involvement in what would become “Star Wars” -- and his artwork was critical in a multitude of ways to not only the project’s success, but its overall look to today. Despite the fact, as McQuarrie would later go on to note, he had no prior interest in the science fiction or fantasy genres.

Lucas had written “Star Wars” but realized he needed a visual proposal to sell the idea to studios, which is where McQuarrie came in in 1975. His conceptual drawings and paintings were unique and original, and -- especially as the two collaborated to reach a shared vision of the aesthetics of the story -- beautifully suited to conveying the grandeur, complexity and stirring sense of romance, adventure, and fantasy undergirding Lucas’s story.

While the looks of characters like Darth Vader and R2D2, C3PO and Chewbacca (not to mention the array of signature spacecraft so integral to the films) morphed somewhat from McQuarrie’s artwork by the time they hit the big screen, they’re among many visual elements of “Star Wars” that have remained very much intact as the central look of the series from its beginnings.

One of McQuarrie’s earliest paintings became iconic: droids C3PO and R2D2 on the desert planet Tatooine. Anthony Daniels, who went on to play C3PO in the “Star Wars” films, was impacted heavily by the image and later said that, without that painting as inspiration, he would not have become C3PO.

The art convinced 20th Century Fox studios to finance the first “Star Wars” film, which became a blockbuster after its release in 1977. As the New York Times wrote in McQuarrie’s 2012 obituary, the artist had transformed Lucas’s “rudimentary concepts and earliest scripts into lush, vivid images of intergalactic expanse and light-saber combat,” which became the “the visual core of the “Star Wars” saga.”

To put it simply, as the Justacarguy blog wrote in 2021, “Without Ralph McQuarrie, there would be no “Star Wars.”

McQuarrie’s artwork, including background matte paintings, was incorporated into “Star Wars” sequels “The Empire Strikes Back” (which included the big screen debut of one of his most popular designs, that of bounty hunter Boba Fett) in 1980, and “Return of the Jedi” in 1983, and his conceptual artwork was utilized in movies ranging from “E.T.” to “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” to “Jurassic Park.”

Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic company also took home an Academy Award (for Best Visual Effects) in 1985 for the movie “Cocoon,” for which McQuarrie was the concept artist.

And, while McQuarrie declined to apply his craft to the “Star Wars” prequel films of the 1990s and early 2000s, the more recent sequel trilogy pulled in previously unused elements from his conceptual art. That’s also true of some of the franchise’s forays into television. Among others, the character design for Rebel hero Zeb Orrelios from

the popular TV series “Rebels” is taken from an early (rejected) design for Chewbacca by McQuarrie.

The Hasbro toy company even created a line of action figures based on his conceptual art, according to his New York Times obituary.

McQuarrie himself noted that his approach is a blend of “the romantic and what looks interesting while half my mind is occupied

with practicality,” which perhaps explains the genius of his approach. “Star Wars” exemplifies his mixture of fantasy imagery with down-to-earth aeronautic or military costuming designs.

“I lie down and let it gel unconsciously,” he was quoted as saying about his creative process in his obituary. “I sort of semi-sleep, and somewhere along the way of going to sleep or coming out of it, I get exactly what I

need – it’s just there, rising like the bubbles in champagne from somewhere inside.”

He also affirmed a sense a gratification of seeing his “Star Wars” artwork, in particular, having become “part of the public happening,” and seeing the results of his design on the likes of everything from the cover of Time Magazine to bubblegum wrappers on the street.

Following McQuarrie’s death in 2012, Lucas said of him: “His genial contribution, in the form of unequalled production paintings, propelled and inspired all of the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy. When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph’s fabulous illustrations and say, ‘do it like this’. We will all be benefiting from his oeuvre for generations to come.

“Beyond that, I will always remember him as a kind, patient and wonderfully talented friend and collaborator.” That, and a native Hoosier boy from Lake County.

INGREDIENTS

• 6 Italian sub rolls

• 6 slices Genoa salami

• 6 slices capocollo

• 6 slices Calabrese salami

• 6 slices provolone cheese

• 1⁄3 cup banana pepper rings from jar

• 3 pepperoncinis from jar

• 1 red onion

• 2 cups chopped green lettuce

• 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

• 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

• 1 1⁄2 cups mayonnaise

• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt

• 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper

• 2 teaspoon dried oregano, plus more for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove seeds from pepperoncinis and discard. Finely chop banana peppers, pepperoncinis, red onion and lettuce. Add to a large mixing bowl.

2. Next, chop calabrese salami, Genoa salami, capocollo and provolone cheese into small pieces. Add to the mixing bowl.

3. Add mayo, red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano to the bowl.

4. Use a wooden spoon and thoroughly mix chopped sandwich ingredients until well-combined. Scoop into the sub rolls and top with a pinch of oregano.

The Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library is a hub of community involvement, both inside and outside the building. Varied programming offers interesting activities for all ages. Recently, its Unity Garden received a second $10,000 grant from the American Libraries

their facilities accessible to people with disabilities.

The library is housed in its own building, which was constructed in 2018. The necessary funds needed for construction were made possible through local

donations, grants, and the support of the Town of Walkerton and the library board. Spacious and airy, the structure has ample room for the Unity Garden on-site.

“Since I’ve been alive, the library has been in four spaces,” says Jennifer Kirman, director.

“The one before this was in a dingy little building by Dollar General. It had few windows and was much smaller. This has windows everywhere. It is gorgeous. We had a huge empty space on the west side of the building. I asked the board what they would like to see there. This is the third year for the garden; we started with four beds. The second year, we got the first grant and were able to add four more beds. The grant we received this year will allow us to add four more beds, plus extend the sidewalks around the beds to make them accessible to seniors and those with special needs.”

Unity Gardens in South Bend is assisting in the library team’s goal of providing healthy food for the community. Six fruit trees including apple, pear and peach have been provided. Bramble bushes such as strawberries, blueberries and black raspberries were recently supplied. In addition, one of the outreaches to the community is a seed library. Free, nonGMO seeds are available for anyone in the

community, for planting on their own.

Besides allowing the space for the Unity Garden, the location of the WalkertonLincoln Township Public Library has proved advantageous in other ways. It is right next to Urey Middle School. Books can be checked out for three weeks, and at the end of that period, a day is set aside for every seventh- and eighth-grade student to come in. Kirman works with the language arts teachers and opens two hours early to host two classes every hour until 2:45 p.m. Special activities are planned that introduce the students to what the library has to offer. Recently they participated in a scavenger hunt to find 26 different book titles, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet.

Programming exists for the very young to older adults. Every Friday at 10:30 a.m. preschool and homeschool children attend story time and do a craft. There is an adult craft session once a month. Every first and

third Wednesday senior mornings are held, which feature a speaker on topics such as estate planning or nutrition. The library’s book club meets once a month.

“This year our book club is having a lot of fun by doing something different,” says Kirman. “We are following the 52 Book

Club challenge, an online program. When we meet, someone might have four books to recommend while someone else might have read two. It doesn’t matter; it gives people ideas of different authors or genres to try.”

“We are very excited for this year’s summer reading program, ‘Adventure Begins at Your Library,’” adds Kirman. “The Indiana State Library sent us a map showing the location of all the libraries in Indiana. We have asked each librarian to send us a postcard. In addition, we have received postcards from all over the world from people who are traveling. Since the program is based on adventure, a story stroll has been set up on the Walkerton Parks and Recreation Department walking trail.”

Throughout the year the library sponsors varied events. Recent programs have included a senior resource expo and a craft show. Every six weeks a mobile unit from the South Bend Medical Foundation comes

for blood donations. In March a grant from Indiana Humanities enabled a talk by Indiana author Alicia Rasley on story building.

“The library has a community room, which is free to use as long as no one is making a profit while there,” Kirman says. “Two times a week people come in to play cards. We have an amazing LEGO table and computers with children’s games. There are STEAM kits that can be used at the library or checked out. This summer the youngadult section will have a tent and sleeping bags. My goal is to build partnerships with the community and work with other agencies. Walkerton and areas surrounding us have been super supportive. We get a lot of donations. It allows us to offer our programs and activities.”

Angie Fisher, co-owner of Behind Bars Powersports, says she has enjoyed the growth of the business since it began.

“Behind Bars Powersports is owned and operated by my husband, Larry Fisher, and myself,” Fishers says. “Behind Bars Powersports was established in 2009 by Larry. He raced competitively for several years and enjoyed the sport. “

Originally Larry began working out of his garage at night on his own vehicles, and helping others with their vehicles.

“Eventually he decided he wanted to have his own business and open a bike shop in town,” Fishers says. “What started as a hobby turned into a full-blown business in a short amount of time. In 2015 after I was diagnosed with cancer, I came to work after leaving my career as a social worker to work full time beside my husband. I have enjoyed it so much that I stayed and have continued to work beside him ever since.” Behind Bars Powersports has a wide variety of products.

“Behind Bars sells recreational vehicles including ATVs, dirt bikes, go-karts, scooters, motorcycles and side-by-sides, and golf carts - both new and pre-owned,” Fisher says. “We also buy and trade recreational vehicles. We offer a full-service shop with a full-time, experienced mechanic. We sell parts, accessories and riding gear. We have helmets for youth and adults, as well as goggles, gloves and protective gear.”

She says the name of the business gets a lot of inquiries.

“People ask all the time, ‘Why the name Behind Bars?’” Fisher says. “As Larry’s wife, I always respond with, ‘Bars that go sideways, not up and down.’ Larry’s response is, ‘Behind Bars, because when you have had a rough day, you can go home, get behind a set of bars and ride. The stress will just melt away with the freedom.’ Behind Bars went from a small, brick building where we originally opened just doing services, to a thriving business, and now offers so much more than just mechanics.”

She says Behind Bars Powersports offers sales and services of recreational vehicles.

“We are a family-run business that doesn’t just sell a product to a customer,” Fisher says. “We offer support, honor our warranties, and provide continued support and services to maintain and keep your recreational vehicle running. When we sell to a customer, we do not sell based on a commission. We want our customers to have a unique, friendly and supportive experience. We help to choose what the customer is looking for, taking all aspects of their lives, whether it be for track racing, leisure activity around the yard, beginner and advanced riding.”

Fishers notes that every customer’s experience matters.

“We understand that each experience should be tailored around the

experience that the customer wishes to gain when purchasing from us,” she says. “We also discuss rider/driver safety and laws put in place to maintain safety while enjoying the full riding experience. Our customers are treated the same as we would treat our family. We want them to be safe and happy when they leave our store. Our leading manufacturer, Tao Tao, offers free hands-on or online training to all beginner riders with the purchase of a youth unit. We also give a discount on helmets with each unit purchased.”

She notes that Behind Bars Powersports offers service and repairs.

“We have a full-service shop and can service most recreational vehicles except watercraft and snow vehicles,” Fisher says. “We do carry parts in stock and can order parts as well. Our service department can service anything from basic oil changes and tune-ups, to tire mounting, rebuilds, winch and plow mounts.”

Fisher says Behind Bars Powersports is fortunate to have loyal customers.

“Some of our customers we see several times a year,” she says. “Because we offer affordable recreational vehicles, our customers always come back to us. They come back to upgrade, trade in, and for all their service needs on their vehicles. Taking care of our customers will always be one of our most important priorities. Most of our referrals come from previous customers.”

Fisher says there are always a lot of different choices at Behind Bars Powersports.

“We are constantly changing our inventory,” she says. “The past couple of years, after noticing the high demand for golf carts in the area, we began investing in high-quality carts that offer reasonable prices. Jon Rigas, owner of Frogs One Stop Tire & Auto, says keeping prices low and offering high-quality service always leads to loyal customers.

“I learned a long time ago that everyone is looking for a great deal at a good and fair price,” Rigas said. “I have really tried to

Frogs originally opened in Knox on April 1, 2019.

“We were in Knox, Indiana, for four years,” Rigas said. “We threw in every dollar we had. We put everything into the business. We are a small, family-run shop. We fought to get where we are at. We have worked very hard to make this the best business it can be. I tell people that we pride ourselves on honesty, integrity and quality work.”

Rigas is pleased that the business has grown from positive word of mouth.

“We decided to move to Plymouth, Indiana, where we have been able to do more business,” he said. “We have been very fortunate to get a lot of our loyal customers to come along with us. It means so much to us. We have been able to get people to depend on us to get them back on the road.”

Rigas noted that Frogs has a wide variety of high-quality tires.

“We have every name-brand tire there is,” he said. “They are inexpensive. We know times are tough for a lot of people and we keep our prices low. The tires hold up, and you won’t break the bank. We keep the price down and keep people coming back. We have had a lot of customers tell their family and friends about us, and that means a lot to us.”

Rigas said the team at Frogs can also do just about any auto repair.

“We can do auto repair on everything except electrical work,” he said. “We do exhaust repairs, etcetera. We do everything from brakes to batteries. We do suspension, diagnostics, engine work, and high-performance LS work. LS is a GM engine style. It was started in early 2000. They were found to be extremely strong and worked well for high-performance applications.”

Frogs also offers oil changes for $29.99.

“We offer the standard five-quart oil change,” Rigas said. “People have told us that they think that’s a great price, and much better than a lot of other places.”

Rigas said it makes him feel great when people tell him Frogs is saving them a lot of money.

“Families are looking at a lot of different ways to make their money go farther,” Rigas said. “We don’t want people to have to worry about something else. It gives us a lot of joy to help other people.”

Rigas noted that he loves having a business in Plymouth.

“This is just a great place to be,” he said. “I love it here. The people are very friendly and we have been able to develop a large client base.”

When Rigas and his family aren’t working at Frogs, they enjoy racing. “The boys and I go drag racing,” Rigas said. “We’ve built a 1,000 [horsepower] high-performance Camaro and many other cars.”
