Unpacking and understanding some of their family health history or their root factors and underlying causes is super important for us, and as a personal trainer, that really helps with evolving the gym as well,” says Santerre.
Prior to becoming owner of Anytime Fitness Lebanon, Santerre worked as a personal trainer. Although he is still heavily involved in coaching, becoming involved with the business side has expanded his vision and strengthened his desire to help the entire community flourish.
“In the past, I was focused on just our members, but now I want our entire community to thrive. I want to be out in the community and help wherever I can, to the point where we’re considered one of the healthiest counties in the state,” says Santerre.

Looking for your next cozy hangout spot in Boone County to grab a cup of coffee, enjoy some food, unwind and reconnect? Then check out Robin’z Nest in Thorntown.
Located in the historic Odd Fellows building on Thorntown’s Main Street, Robin’z Nest sits in the heart of this small community.
“Thorntown is small-town USA, which is fun. It’s just a lovely little place to spend an afternoon, hang out and visit the other little shops that are around,” says owner Robin Wornhoff.
Having recently opened at the end of March, Robin’z Nest has created a welcoming space where people can enjoy freshly roasted coffee, fresh-baked goods and a menu featuring an assortment of breakfast and lunch items, along with a variety of drinks.
“Originally, I had thought about opening a coffee shop a few years ago, and it wasn’t the right timing. Then somebody reached out to me and said Thorntown is looking for a coffee shop. ‘Are you still thinking you might want to do this?’ and I was like, ‘Yes,’ because when people come to the dealership and I sell them a car, they sit down, they talk and I get their whole life story. I thought that would be just so fun — to have a coffee shop where there are couches and chairs and just a place to connect,” says Wornhoff.
Inside Robin’z Nest, there is an emphasis on creating a cozy, warm aesthetic that showcases the exposed brick of the historic building, built in 1874, along with warm wood accents and inviting furniture perfect for conversation and relaxation, including leather couches, accent chairs and a bookshelf filled with books.
With a passion for baking and feeding people, the menu at Robin’z Nest will always be changing and evolving. Current food offerings include chicken salad, barbecue pork sliders, freshly baked bakery staples such as muffins and seasonal flavors, biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches, salads, paninis and soups. The drink menu consists of more than 20 signature beverages, including Lotus plant-based energy drinks, dirty sodas, teas and coffee supplied by a local roaster, roasted fresh every week and ground fresh daily.
Robin’z Nest also plans to offer grab-and-go meals for families who don’t have time to prepare food but still want a home-cooked meal.
“When school starts back up again, I will be offering foods like a pan of lasagna, a big pan of mac and cheese, sloppy joes or chili — something homemade that you can take home and eat with your family,” says Wornhoff.
Wornhoff also feels it is important to give back to the local community and plans to partner with local schools and youth sports teams while supporting charitable organizations, including the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit that provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders.
“I think it’s important that we’re involved in the community. That’s kind of the point of having businesses — to give back to the people who are supporting you,” says Wornhoff.
Robin’z Nest also offers a rental and event space on the other side of the coffee shop. The space can be used for private events, including showers, birthday parties, meetings and group gatherings. Wornhoff also provides catering, making it a perfect extension of the business. She eventually hopes to use the space for special themed events such as mommy-and-me coffee dates,
trivia nights, live music, singles events, coffee and canvas classes, holiday-themed get-togethers and more.
Robin’z Nest will also adjust its schedule on Friday nights to be open from 5 to 8 p.m. for Friday Night Flights, giving those who normally cannot visit the café during the day an opportunity to stop in and enjoy a variety of flights, grab-and-go sandwiches, dirty sodas, baked goods including cobblers and pies, and Glover’s Ice Cream.
“I want people to come here and make memories, have good conversations and experience life moments here. I really wanted to be a blessing in the community where people come in and feel like it’s a nice, enjoyable space to hang out. I want them to enjoy the food or drink they receive and the people serving them to be pleasant. I want it to be a place where everybody knows you. I want everyone to feel like they’ve had a good time and that they feel welcomed,” says Wornhoff.
Robin’z Nest is located at 102 W. Main St. and is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, serving breakfast and lunch. The café is closed on Sundays.

Many adults delay estate planning for several reasons. They don’t like to think about dying, they assume they have plenty of years left to live, or they believe they don’t have enough assets to leave behind.
But what if they experience a sudden accident or serious illness that results in incapacitation, preventing them from choosing who will receive their assets or from making health care decisions about their own life?
“If they become incapacitated because of illness, age or any other occurrence that renders them incapable of managing their affairs, whether financial or health care, I would recommend that they have a durable power of attorney for their finances,” says Joanna Feltz, a boardcertified Indiana trust and estate lawyer with Koehler Law LLC.
Feltz also advises signing a health care advance directive to designate a trusted person to make health care decisions on their behalf when they are unable to do so.
“If you want to opt in to having an in-hospital living will (also known as a living will), when a physician says that you have an incurable injury, disease or illness that will result in death within a short time and life-prolonging procedures would only extend the dying process, by signing one you’re effectively saying, ‘Keep me comfortable, administer palliative care and let me die naturally,’” she adds.
Feltz also recommends a HIPAA waiver (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) that identifies those who may access the patient’s private medical information and speak with doctors on the patient’s behalf.
Unlike a living will, a will — or last will and testament — lists and describes your assets and directs how they are distributed after your death. Wills also name guardians for minor children. Wills are different from trusts, and Feltz explains the distinction.
“A trust is a contract that you execute while you’re living that can have many of the same directions that a will does, except it is a document utilized while you’re alive, upon your incapacity and upon your death, directing the trustee on how to handle your financial assets for your benefit and for whomever you designate in your trust,” she says.
If a person dies without a will or trust, the state of Indiana will determine an intestate succession plan that dictates how assets and
property are distributed.
“For example, if you are single and you pass away and you have children, the state says your beneficiaries are your children,” Feltz says. “One thing in Indiana that most people don’t realize is that if you pass away while married and you have something in your individual name that does not have a beneficiary, it does not automatically go 100% to your surviving spouse.
“In fact, if you pass away first and you have children together, your surviving spouse would generally receive 50% of the estate, while the remaining portion would go to your children.”
Education is key when making decisions about assets, naming a trustee, ensuring loved ones are cared for and planning for long-term care. There are three primary options available for seniors when considering long-term care planning.
The first option is to be self-insured.
“They basically have discussed with their financial advisor their income, the assets they have invested and what it would look like if they had to move to assisted living or needed 24-hour care, whether in-home or at a nursing home, and whether they could afford to pay for that,” says Feltz. “Once they determine they can privately pay, they’re basically self-insured.”
A second option is purchasing long-term care insurance. Long-term care insurance is designed to help cover the costs of assisted living, nursing care or other long-term care services that may be needed as a senior ages.

As July transitions into August, don’t miss the Zionsville Street Dance (August 1, 6-10pm), the biggest party in Zionsville. SKYLAKE ADVENTURES BRINGS FLOATING OBSTACLE COURSES, TOWERING SLIDES AND LAKESIDE FUN TO A NEW FAMILY DESTINATION IN SHERIDAN

Anew nature-based adventure park has splashed into Hamilton County, offering thrills from a giant floating obstacle course and multi-slide jump towers to climbing and sliding fun for young children and carefree swimming for all.
SKYLAKE Adventures, sprawling across 133 acres in Sheridan, opened in early June, just in time for guests to experience an exciting new way to escape the sweltering summer humidity.
The brainchild of founders Sean Howard and Phil Sack, both Westfield residents, SKYLAKE Adventures was inspired by travels with their families to different states and watching their children’s enthusiasm for water parks.
Their vision was to bring this type of entertainment to the local community for their children, grandchildren and other families to enjoy, according to Ben Peacock, general manager of SKYLAKE Adventures.
Kids of all ages are welcome — from 2 to 102. Even if guests prefer something low-key on the beach, like lounging in a chair while soaking up the sun or peoplewatching in the comfort of the shade, every member of the family can find something to enjoy.
“Maybe it’s grandparents that want to come here and just watch their children in the water enjoying themselves, and we will have those opportunities for everybody. So it really is somewhere where everybody, from all levels and all ages, can come out here and
enjoy,” Peacock says.
There are three beaches, each offering a different vibe. Children can laugh their cares away by building sandcastles in the soft sand and playing in shallow water at Splash Beach. SKY Beach is designed for families and teens who love social energy, while adults may prefer the quieter, more relaxed Sunset Sands.
SKYLAKE offers equipment to rent on-site, including umbrellas, chairs and aquabanas, as well as paddleboards and kayaks for those who want a bit more physical activity across six acres of water.
For those who can’t get enough thrills, “we’ve got this ‘Zoom Flume,’ which is a bit of an adrenaline ride; it’s a 90-foot slide,” Peacock says. “That’s for children over 48 inches tall. They can have a great time on that.” With two water slides available, kids can race their friends down the hill and into the water.
An even bigger thrill is “The X Tower,” a 40-foot-tall floating deck with 10 water slides, cliff-sized jump platforms and drops.
“It’s a really fun attraction, one of only two in the U.S.,” Peacock says. “It came over from France, and it is a sight. When you’re driving down U.S. 31, you can actually see it, which is exciting as well.”
Kids can enjoy a friendly contest with friends while bouncing, balancing and climbing around an obstacle course called Splash Challenge, while their younger
siblings can do the same on the smaller Tidal Trek.
After expending their energy, families can refuel at one of several food trucks, including Tropical Snow, Indi Taco, Pastelitos, Chef Dan, Zobots, Porkopolis and Union Jack. They can enjoy their meals at one of the many nearby picnic tables.
After summer ends, the adventure will continue on land with the addition of a High Ropes Treetop Course slated to open this fall and an all-season tubing hill this winter. More indoor attractions will follow next year, including a conference center, according to Peacock.
The addition of SKYLAKE Adventures helps Hamilton County benefit economically in more than one way. The park has created jobs for 90 people in the community, including 35 lifeguards.
A collaboration with Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield can also help encourage out-of-town visitors to stay a little longer after attending a game.
“What we wanted to do was create a partnership where people wanted to spend the weekend here or maybe even a week,” Peacock says. “Now it’s a bit more of a stayand-play destination.”

Jennifer values the balance of meaningful work and genuine f riendships. She especially enjoys seeing the ripple effect of the group's collective giving.
"You can see the impact these grants have across the county," Jennifer said. "It's rewarding to support so many different organizations and watch our community grow stronger."
Jennifer is equally passionate about introducing new generations to philanthropy. WOI offers a reduced membership level for women under 30, making it easier for younger members to get involved and discover the joy of giving back. Her own family is proof of that vision. Jennifer's mother, Carolyn, daughter, Jada, and daughter-in-law, Daniela, are all members. Even her grandson has attended a meeting.
