Other Causes Of Global Developmental Delay (GDD) Besides

Genetic Conditions

According to studies, most reasons for global developmental disability (GDD) start before birth, and in some situations, they start right away. One to three percent of kids have GDD, and many have intellectual disabilities (ID). GDD does not have a single cause, like other developmental delays, but several things make it more likely to occur.

Genetic Disorders: Genetic factors and disorders account for about 40% of developmental delays, including Global Developmental Delay (GDD). Genetic disorders are issues brought on by mistakes or modifications in a person's genes Genes are components of cells that contain the instructions needed to direct a cell's behaviour in the body. Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome are the two most prevalent genetic disorders.

Prenatal problems include premature (too early) birth, low birth weight, and breathing difficulties. Foetal alcohol syndrome has also been linked to this condition by the American Academy of Neurology Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is not advised since it could harm the developing foetus.

Environmental problems: inadequate nutrition, prenatal alcohol and drug use, abusive family environments, trauma

Medical conditions: Conditions, recurring ear infections, visual issues, and long-lasting injuries
