TIPS FOR CONSERVING WATER INDOORS

• Check for leaks around likely areas because this can add up to many gallons of water lost every day • Turn off water while brushing teeth, shaving, etc… • Showers use less water than baths on average • Plug up the sink or use a wash basin for handwashing dishes • Using a dishwater only when its fully loaded • Scrape your plate of excess food instead of rinsing

• Keep a pitcher of drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the water until its cool • Thaw food in the refrigerator overnight rather than using tap water • Add food to your compost pile instead of using the garbage disposal • Wash only full loads of laundry or use the appropriate water level or load size selection on the washing machine • To save money on energy bills, set your washing machine to use cold water rather than hot or warm water
