A FOODIE TOWN FOR GOURMET ENTHUSIASTS Regency homeowners are taking advantage of Reno’s fast-growing reputation as a foodie town. What exactly is a foodie? A foodie is a person with a particular interest in gourmet food. The existing and growing number of gourmet restaurants in Reno offers Regency residents a variety of quality food options. Midtown is an up-and-coming neighborhood in Reno that offers unique, local restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and bakeries. Enjoy riverfront dining at Campo and interesting, fresh cuisines. Or, indulge in the best almond croissants and coffee at Homage. Silver Peak, Sup, Wild River Grille, SoDo, and Old Granite Street Eatery are all known for their local ingredients and delectable dishes. In appreciation of Reno’s foodie reputation, Regency homeowners have created a Neighbors Dining Out (NDO) group. This group selects trendy and delicious restaurants to try with new and established residents of the community. Your dining companions and the restaurant chosen are up to the captain of the group for that month. Nancy Max, the founder of this group, says, “The best part about NDO, besides the incredible food, is the fact that you are constantly creating new friendships by dining with different residents every few months! There’s nothing like a good meal and drinks to learn more about one another and our journeys through life.” Regency foodies also enjoy ongoing cooking demonstrations provided by professional local chefs, utilizing the commercial appliances and kitchen in the community clubhouse. Celebrity chef Clint Jolly from Great Thyme Catering has provided a couple of cooking demonstrations, including a holiday and heart-healthy cooking class. In 2016, Clint was the winner of Chopped, a nationally renowned cooking competition. Reno’s caliber of gourmet chefs continues to grow as the selection of first-class restaurants expands. During the next couple of months, residents will enjoy Ladies’ Luncheons at various restaurants, Toasting Tuesdays, and Italian Night. In April, chef Mark Estee from Liberty Food and Wine Exchange will be hosting a Summer Cooking Demonstration at Regency. He will be sharing new recipes using fresh ingredients. Bon appétit!
