TRADITIONAL MUSIC WORKSHOPS

DATE: MONDAYS 26 JAN ONWARDS AGE: 10 - 18 YRS BEGINNERS: Fiddle, Guitar, Whistle, Flute (min 6 mths experience): 6 – 7PM INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED: Traditional Music Session for any instrument (min 2 years playing experience): 7.15 – 8.30PM COST: FREE An exciting opportunity to take part in regular traditional music workshops and a music session led by three of Scotlandʼs top traditional musicians: Claire Mann, Lori Watson and Ewan MacPherson.

FIDDLE

DATE: WED 4 FEB – 25 MAR BEGINNERS 7 – 8PM COST: £40/£32 INTERMEDIATE 8 – 9.15PM COST: £46/£38 AGE: 14+ Beginners class is for those with very little experience to learn in a relaxed environment. Intermediate is for those with a couple of tunes under their belt, continuing to work on technique and playing in new keys. Tutor: Marie Fielding

Our current programme explores the unique architectural and civic history of our new gallery space at Tolbooth by positioning the work of contemporary artists in a new context.

Concrete Shadows Kate Davis, Ines Schaber, Lucy Skaer, Catherine Street 15 November - 17 January This exhibition is part of a longer-term project focussing on direct links between women artists from three generations, hinged on either side of the major feminist movement of the 1970’s. The project aims to create new dialogues, explore strategies of production adopted and adapted by artists, as well as looking at ways that artists reference work from the past and how this raises an awareness of the passing of time.

All Welcome An exhibition of photographic portraits by Graham Fagen from various series brought together for the first time. Almost all of the works haven’t been exhibited in Scotland before. These portraits combine real and imagined figures in order to explore contemporary and historic culture. Fagen has also pursued making a new work Heads of Scotland that represents the main cultural formers in contemporary Scotland.
