Senior students in Years 11, 12 and 13 were presented with certificates recognising their achievements in 2025.
We had a great start to Spirit Week! Friday was Halloween so a celebration of games and treats was on the cards.
The events were coordinated and superbly run by Reily Matheson, Iris Flett, George Stark and Emily Wicks. A number of students won prizes for their costumes.
The Year 9/10 Drama class also found some costumes to dress up in!

Tokomairiro High School Newsletter...
SCHOOL MISSION: Inspiring Excellence in Education, in Character and in Life.
It’s lovely to see some fine weather today after the recent wind and snow it feels like summer might finally be on its way!
This is always a busy and exciting part of the term as students complete final assessments, prepare for exams and staff begin looking ahead to next year. There’s a real sense of focus and purpose around the kura and it’s great to see our ākonga setting themselves up well for the end of the year.
NCEA Updates and Study Leave
Students have now been advised if they have study leave. Even if a student has study leave, they are welcome to come back to school to work but this should be arranged directly with specific kaiako. When students are on site, all school expectations around phones and uniform remain in place.
Students coming in for meetings with teachers must also sign in and out at the main office.
End of Year
Staff are now preparing end-of-year reports for all students which will be sent out on Friday 5th December. These reports will focus mainly on the second half of the year, highlighting both progress and achievement. We encourage whānau to take time to go through these with your tamaiti and celebrate their successes.
Our Activity Days will run from Wednesday 3rd December to Friday 5th December, providing a great way for students to enjoy the end of the school year together. Further information about these days will be shared soon. The Final Junior Assembly and Prizegiving will be held on Monday 8th December where we’ll celebrate the many achievements and efforts of our students in 2025.
Turf Update
On Sunday, part of the fence around the turf was taken down and a large number of people came along to help remove sections of the old surface. A huge mihi and thank you to Mark and Rachael Russell, Gill Campbell, Ray Lowe, Kate and Duncan Woodhead for their help with organising, rolling up and moving the turf.
The large court area should hopefully be cleared by the end of the week a really exciting step towards replacement. We expect the new turf to be installed on the larger court around March or April next year.
We will also be fundraising for the turf over the coming months as this is one of the biggest investments we have ever made in our kura. The new surface will make a huge difference to sport and recreation for our students and wider community.
PTA Online Auction
In light of the bike ride not being able to take place this November, the PTA will be running an online auction to help raise funds that would have been generated by the ride. If you have any items, services or experiences that you could donate, we’d be very grateful. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for further information every bit of tautoko helps.
Teacher Only Day
A reminder that Thursday 14th November is a Teacher Only Day granted by the Ministry of Education. The school will be closed for instruction on this day.

Noel Leeming has a list of recommended models available. Please note that tablets are not suitable for classroom use at this level.
With Black Friday sales coming up this could be a good opportunity to look for suitable devices at discounted prices.
Measles Information
With more measles cases being reported around the country it’s important we all remain alert. Please watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes and a blotchy rash. If unwell, stay home and contact your doctor or Healthline on 0800 611 116.

News from the Trenches...
It would appear my new Portuguese Pigeon Lapo Alsi got a bit excited in the wind last week and dropped couple of pages for last weeks report. I think my legal team were glad in hindsight certain stories weren't revealed.
And the WINNER is??? The King Brendan Sheath reigns supreme in NPC Comp by going back to back. His new nickname is Penrith Panthers as this could be the start of a dynasty!!! Can anyone stop him?? Tanya Manson 2nd, Nick McKay 3rd were only one and two points behind. This was the closest competition we have had. It all comes down to loyalty with a knowledgeable RSA member getting 4th but not picking Otago in semi final cost him the big prize. Stay calm until next year when we kick off Super Rugby Comp.
Thanks to those who rocked up to the RSA Working Bee on Saturday, place is looking flash now aye??? Always need a few extra helpers on those days would have made job easier. So consider coming along and not leaving it to same ones.
This week we will be launching our 2026 Darts Comp Extravaganza. This will be restricted to first 16 entrants with cost $5. This time YOU get to decide your nickname and walk on music!!! If you haven't let Woody or Lammy know what they are, we will do it for you so don't come crying to us if you don't like what we selected. Get in quick as there was huge success last year and interest is there. Comp will be held on last three Saturday nights in January.
Now Lapo Alsi has reported to me a bit of news. On Saturday night we asked people to dress up in rugby gear. Two members just about caused a ruckus with one looking tough in Southland Stags gear, but worse was the member who dressed up in Crescent jersey, and they were a life member. This person claimed jersey still fitted after 50 years so he was an outstanding athlete either then or now!!! You decide.
