Workshop Engineer Salary: Competitive The ideal candidate will have a good understanding and previous experience in the service; fault-finding, and repairing of forklift trucks. We are seeking a keen, motivated and committed individual to be responsible for managing and leading the Energy Projects Team The wider Energy Services Teams are responsible for energy and sustainability issues in Gateshead, managing the Council's energy use and carbon emissions, and delivering energy and sustainability in the wider community. You will be the Team Leader for the Energy Projects Team, being responsible for delivering major capital schemes, to expand heat networks, install renewable heat and power generation and develop new home energy efficiency schemes. To help the team deliver its objectives, you will manage and oversee all energy capital projects through their full life, manage contractors / consultants effectively using NEC contracts, establish and manage the team’s procedures including health and safety compliance, have overall budget responsibility for projects, prepare reports, liaise with stakeholders, and support other members of the energy services section. You must have knowledge of projects in energy, mechanical, electrical, or infrastructure areas, capital project management and procurement, CDM regulations. Essential qualifications include degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. Experience is required of line management, capital project management. Construction contract management, construction risk management, computer literacy, strategy and programme development and delivery, effective partnership and stakeholder working. £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) Full time (Monday to Friday), Permanent – 38.5 hours per week, statutory holidays included and uniform will be provided. The role requires a motivated Diesel engineering fitter. Working in a small friendly team. The successful candidate will have qualifications and/or experience in the following: • Diesel engine, rebuilding, repairing, fault finding & maintenance (petrol, diesel and gas engines). • Electrical diagnostic skills with training available. • You will be working with common rail/ECU electronics. • The successful candidate will be required to attend any training courses for the engine products we supply at our expense. • You will be required to work in our workshop and occasionally visit our customer’s site. • Own tools would be desirable. It is anticipated that the individual will work five days a week (Monday to Thursday 8.00 – 4.30pm, Friday 8.00 – 3.00pm each week).
