01.LOVE

LETTER

As young women of the Peranakan community must reckon the tradition of arranged marriages, it does not stop them from pursuing their love, even when having to do so discreetly. The biscuit that is known as Kuih Kapit or Love Letters is used as an envelope to encase their hidden messages.

“Love Letter” is created to let people experience how love was portrayed during the olden days.

VISUAL & TYPOGRAPHY

CARD GAME The game consists of 6 playing roles, 2 power card and 1 moderator. The “Mak (mom)” attempted to intercept the letter, while “Nya (daughter)” works with the others to get the letter to her lover “Baba”.

WAX SEAL & INSTRUCTION SHEET Customized wax seal is design to look like a mini unfolded kuih kapit.

Embossing effect on the brown paper is based on the real love letter (Kuih Kapit) mould.

02.ANIMALS

NOT TOYS

Lok Kawi still has the image of a zoo rather than a nurture home for inured animals.

This rebranding project aimed to educate people about the knowledge of wildlife and have them empathize that animals are more than just our playthings. The main purpose is to reimagine how people view sanctuaries and the inhabitants located inside.

THE MAP

TOUCHPOINT (DIGITAL) QR code will be provided at the entrance to scan. Visitor will then be directed to a microsite to start the journey. The app will direct visitors to a digital map and a “cage-like” box will appear to collect digital “missing pieces”. The missing pieces will be located at different stations, visitors are required to scan the QR code to collect it, they can also read the information about the condition of the animal on the microsite.

As visitors completes checkpoints, the missing pieces will be assembled automatically. After that, a ‘release’ button will pop up, letting them to know the dangers in keeping wild animals in captive. Upon exiting the sanctuary, visitors are able to redeem their ‘gift of knowledge’ at the counter by showing their complete journey.

MERCHANDISE (PLUSH TOYS) The toys were designed to depict a metaphorical contrast which some parts are hidden with stories. The stories are about the animals’ parts which has been illegally poached by poachers.

MERCHANDISE (T-SHIRT, WOODEN TOY) Merchandises will be sold in Lok Kawi’s gift shop.

Wooden toy is designed for the touchpoints.
