and Judge Moore clarified that county employees, when alone in their office, may be without a mask, but in public areas or when in the company of others, they must wear their mask. In a public setting, a mask should be worn if 6-foot distancing cannot be maintained. Commissioner Lackey asked whether an event on private property must follow the same guidelines, and Judge Moore answered that the county guidelines he has compiled must be maintained. Regarding enforcement, Judge Moore recommended informing the Sheriff’s office or a constable of violations. Judge Moore expects to hear more in the next week. A regular meeting of the Fannin County Commissioners Court was called to order at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, by County Judge Randy Moore at Bonham City Hall and via teleconference. Judge Moore established quorum; Commissioner Whitlock was absent, all other Commissioners present. Before beginning items from the agenda, Judge Moore reviewed rules for face coverings during Commissioner Court sessions. The invocation was given by Reverend Wayne Walters of First United Methodist Church in Trenton. Judge Moore led the pledges. No special introductions were made.

5 Public Forum: One resident commented on chat concerning the methods of County officials in dealing with the local aspects of the pandemic and their representation of their constituents.

6 Judge Moore opened a discussion on the Fannin County

Declaration of Disaster Proclamation for Covid-19 by reading DSHS statistics for the county, which include a total count of 112 cases of Covid-19, with 55 of those recovered, 50 active, and 7 fatalities. He expressed his discontent with the new count system, which does report an accurate county count of hospitalizations, and which does not report numbers to Dr. Froelich.

Judge Moore read his guidelines for events involving over 10 people, as per the authority granted him in an amendment of Executive Order GA-28.

They are the same guidelines City Manager Sean Pate said is in place for Bonham. He also reviewed GA-29, which mandates Texas residents wear masks in public—exceptions to this rule can be found in a link to the Order on the County Website.

He asked listeners to be careful before trusting information found online and on social media. Commissioners discussed face-covering requirements,

In response to the July 7th article on the commissioners court meeting to discuss lowering detention center costs, I suggest resolving the problem of detaining drug use and family violence offenders with the advice of a mental health expert and a psychiatric or family social worker because it is often, if not usually, a symptom of mental or psychological problems. Einstein’s definition of insanity was to keep doing the same thing while expecting a different outcome. I would apply this not only to the drug, alcohol, and substance abusers, but to the public officials the citizens expect to resolve the problems which they have never resolved. It is an ab-

This election may be close, but I firmly believe that I have the support needed to win this election IF every supporter goes and votes. I believe that it is a privilege to be able to have a say in who serves us in local government, and I urge you to do just that.

You can use canned chicken if you wish.

I have had some pain and heartache in my time on this earth. I never knew my birth father, my mama died at a young age and many of my friends have either died or ended up in jail. Yet, I am blessed to have a mighty Lord in my corner as well as a strong wife and 13 amazing children ages 8-32.

I entered the United States Army upon graduating from high school. There I learned how to be a better person. I learned true friendship and brotherhood, respect, honor, humility, and pride. In my 35 years in our wonderful military I saw things that would make many people run and

Commissioners Workshop 9/23/14 Detention Center Costs

The Fannin County Commissioners Court convened Thursday, July 9, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. to continue the discussion on detention center costs and other budget concerns. All Commissioners were present. County Judge Randy Moore read the 2019-2020 projected end of year income and expenses, which covered both budgeted and actual expenses. He noted outstanding areas regarding prisoners, health, and transportation, which contribute to a total detainee cost of more than $550,000 over budget. The total loss in revenue has amounted to at least $810,109. District Clerk Nancy Young noted the county is only eligible for grants if open TRNs, (tracking numbers for arrests) is 90% closed. Fannin County only has a 65% closure, and will not receive grant money until the open arrests are closed.

Clerk Young explained the process, where the first step is the arresting agency, which could be the Sheriff’s Office, Highway Patrol, or a local Police Department (PD), filing a case with the DA, who will then either file the charges with the County Clerk for misdemeanors or indict for felonies. If the arresting agency does not file the charges, further steps cannot be taken, and arrested persons spend far longer in jail, accruing costs for the county. Clerk Young recommends hiring or appointing a person to monitor who is in jail, and whether charges have been filed or if there is even enough for a charge. County Court at Law Judge Charles Butler noted some arresting agencies, such

as small PDs, do not have the manpower to do all the paperwork. He gave an example of a procedure where an arresting agency had 10 days to file their charges before the person detained would be released from jail until the paperwork was completed. This would keep the jail from filling up with unprocessed and uncharged people.

The discussion moved to find a jail liaison to keep track of these cases. Municipal Court Judge John Skotnik suggested having IT Coordinator Dustin Morrow, who has access to Odyssey, install a program that keeps track of arrests and cases in the jail, and sends a daily report to the Magistrates, Judge Butler, and 336th Judicial District Court Judge Laurine Blake. The discussion moved to how inmates with high medical expenses contribute to the overall cost.

Judge Skotnik believes mental health is not a contributing issue because Fannin County is ahead of other rural counties in its response. He noted Magistrates receive a report on the mental health screening of everyone admitted to the jail, which must be signed off on. District Attorney Richard Glaser noted Covid-19 has prevented felony cases from going to a jury trial, which he expects will not be possible before next year. The discussion moved to rejecting cases, which may be due to poor or compromised evidence, though they can be renewed with more information later. Clerk Young noted fines and fees are picking back up.

The workshop was adjourned at 10:02 a.m.

It’s worrisome that The Fannin County Leader would give more than a quarter of a page to Sen. Bob Hall’s “Press Release” yet fail to print an update (or even a portion of it) from the County Health Authority, Dr. Froelich, on COVID-19. Months into a disease outbreak that has taken at least 8 human lives in Fannin County and has more than doubled in cases in the last five weeks, the contribution of The Leader to the fight against COVID-19 is a political statement from Hall implying that “liberty” means being able to infect others at will and never having to say you’re sorry (or wear a mask). In the twelfth paragraph he gets around to naming the Disaster Management Act and the Governor of Texas as the causes of his outburst It’s a shame that Hall has no advice, whatsoever, in his release as to things that can be done to limit the virus and, perhaps, save the lives of some of his constituents. Not a word about what he is doing to help procure testing and PPE for Fannin County. Not a peep about Texas joining Florida and Arizona as the states with the fastest spread of the disease. No explanation as to why cases in Texas prisons are tallied in the counties the inmates come from, not the county where they are housed (like here, for instance).

Or why the counting system in Texas has been “completely overwhelmed” and isn’t functioning, now. Nothing about the USA outpacing the rest of the world in

But he did offer some Texas “history,” which I will now dispute (it’s almost as if it was written by someone from Florida, like Bob).

He says, for example, that there was a “valiant fight for freedom at the Alamo.” Yes, William Travis’s slave Joe and Jim Bowie’s slave Sam were freed by the Mexicans after the battle. But I’m not sure that’s what he meant. Mexico had freed its slaves in 1829 (1830 for the Texas part) and the “freedom-loving” Texans who won independence re-established it immediately when they wrote the Constitution of the Republic of Texas in 1836. Totally legal to bring slaves from other states, too.

(GOOD NEWS: I have found no evidence that James Butler Bonham owned slaves!)

He goes further and says that since Texas became a state in 1845, its “citizens have always stepped up to fight for freedom...”

Their God was cool with slavery, it seems.

(FUN FACT: The white men of Fannin County voted 60%40% NOT to leave the Union!

Yet they have no statue on the square.)

Of course, there was also the slaughter of thousands of Native Americans who got in the way of “freedom.” And the killings of Tejanos along the border who had owned land in Texas for centuries but were not white enough to be

allowed to continue to live on it, even in the 20th century.

History is messy. I know of Governor Abbott, Senator. Governor Abbott is not a friend of mine. But Governor Abbott is no Santa Ana. And the Disaster Management Act is not the same threat to “liberty” that white Texans endured when Lincoln was elected and the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

I’m inclined to believe that The Leader is more than happy to take thousands of dollars in tax money from citizens of Fannin County and some of its other governmental entities while providing no other service than printing official notices. People are dying, and official health information from the County is ignored in favor of The Leader’s political patrons’ semi-historical rants.

There are reasons why none of the other 253 counties in Texas are legally allowed to have “shoppers” as their papers of record, and there are reasons why Fannin County has a shopper called The Leader as its.

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a major lane shift for westbound traffic on US 82 in Fannin County will occur July 17, weather permitting.

Westbound traffic traveling on US 82 near Honey Grove at the Fannin-Lamar County line will be directed onto the newly constructed lanes for approximately 10 miles. Meanwhile, eastbound traffic on US 82 will remain on the existing roadway, officials said.

Drivers who travel frequently in this area, and those who desire to cross from the north, are advised that all driveways, county roads and FM roads will include a full stop at their intersection with US 82. After the stop, traffic can proceed to cross over to the median.

The contractor, Austin Bridge & Road Services LP, will place stop signs at these locations before the traffic switch occurs, and will place message boards along some roads to alert drivers to the new stop signs.

US 82 from two lanes to a fourlane highway with depressed median, from one-half mile west of State Highway 121 in Bonham eastward to approximately six-tenths of mile east of State Highway 56 in Honey Grove, officials said Those who frequently travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.

Leonard, TX There is a place I know by heart. You can find7/14/20 it in Texas at the very NorthEastern part. Follow the red brick roads on a small town square. You will find Mr. Kegans’ soda fountain, and Southern magic still there. A special group of folks still in touch with their roots. They will hold the door open for you smiling in their Wranglers and boots. Take a day trip exploring back roads. Pass by the rock pits and Low Bridge — places where fools used to hunt for gold.

Not knowing these woods are worth much more, like the cotton and hay fields the sun adores. Many moons ago, tall brush and thorn vines covered this place full of flaws. They called it Wildcat Thicket. A perfect haven for outlaws. Lee Cemetery is worth the journey for lovers of history. I would not stay past dark though. For there might still be ghosts lingering from 150 years ago. There have been many unsolved mysteries. However, that is only local folklore passed down over time.

The energy there is rich and rare. You know you are not far from the Divine. A lovely corner of the world where they’ll still call you mister and miss. Leonard is proof Texas is the greatest land there is.

This decision was not taken lightly, but ultimately the Leonard Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to do what is best for our community, and your health and safety takes priority over anything else. We understand that this is going to be dif-

ficult for us all not to get together and celebrate, but with the rules and regula-

tions that have been outlined for gatherings we decided that it would not be the homecoming we have all come accustomed to.

We will still be celebrating Leonard’s birthday with a fireworks display at 9:30pm Saturday July 18th from the City Park.

We will ask that everyone stay in their vehicles or watch from a distance. We are already hard at work planning for the 2021 Picnic (third weekend in July) and by then hopefully we can hug and kiss all of you!

By Tina Moore Open Arms Homeless Shelter was so thankful to receive donations from Elvis Lives Texas Style Fan Club. The Elvis fan club has been meeting for more than ten years.

At their last meeting they collected items to donate to the shelter – paper towels, toilet paper, and nail clippers. Some of the members came by the shelter to drop off the donations with Jennifer Burgess, Shelter Director. One of the members, nine-year old Hollie Holland, donated a first aid kit to the shelter. Thanks so much for helping the homeless of Fannin County. The Elvis Lives Texas Style Fan Club will meet on July 18 at 2 p.m. at the Dairy Queen in Bonham, Texas.

So, the Commissioners are saying that they need around $4-5M to maintain and/or fix the roads and drainage? OK, fine, GET IT! Property values, therefore property taxes,

have increased, Where is that “Extra” money going, they’ve rezoned for a 50 acre housing development. Are the funds from property taxes going to roads and infrastructure?

John Arthur Smith, 81, of Oak Ridge, Texas died on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at home.

His family received friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Oak Ridge Church of Christ, 10368 East FM 1550, Ladonia, Texas with the funeral services following. Robert Milton and Clint Norwood officiated; Tom Wishard and Ryan Turner led congregational singing; Mark Rattan, Tyler Rattan, Brad Rattan, and Luke Rattan sang; and Marty Kueckelhan, Scott Munger and Ricky Pollard led prayers. Interment followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Honey Grove, TX. John was born on March 21, 1939, the son of W. T. and Faye Smith of Oak Ridge. He graduated from Ladonia High School, a proud member of the Rattler Class of 1957. He married his high school sweetheart Carol Rattan on March 8, 1958, and never stopped doting on her.

John worked for Campbell’s Soup Company in Paris, becoming a certified electrician, and for General Cable Corporation in Bonham where he served in management and from which he retired in 1994 after 32 years. He also taught electrical courses at Paris Junior College and Campbell’s Soup. He farmed and ranched all of his life and was especially proud of The Smith Angus Farm’s recognition of family ownership since 1870.

John was a lifelong resident of Oak Ridge. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and an elder. He served the community in various roles, including the Fannindel Independent School District Board of Trustees, the McCraw Chapel Water Supply Board, the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association Board, the Fannin Soil and Water Conservation District Board, and in an advisory capacity for the new lake. Among his greatest services were the countless volunteer hours he spent repairing the rural water system and the innumerable acts of kindness to fill the needs of others, especially for his family. No one ever worked harder or gave more of himself for his family and friends than John.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Smith of the home; children and their spouses, Jackie Shelton of Paris, Michele Smith of Sulphur Springs, Cindy and Marty Kueckelhan of Bonham, Stanley Smith of Dallas, and Leasa Baxter of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Blair Shelton and fiancé Tyler Tongson; Jared Shelton; Shannon and Jackie Thomas, Lane and Aubrey; Jennifer and Colt Compton, Grady and Conley; Quincy Kueckelhan and Haynzli; Brad and Kaylea Baxter; and Brian and Krista Baxter and Bryce. Also to be remembered are special friends Sylvia Wishard, Carol Wishard, Rhonda Shinpaugh, Peggy Ellard, Robbie Holloway, Tom Hulsey, James Shaw, Leck Braley and Johnny Braley.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, John Alan Smith and Jeff Smith; his son-in-law, Jimmy Baxter; his granddaughter, Kelayne Kueckelhan; a special aunt, Myrt Smith; and in-laws, Lottie Rattan, Jimmie Doris and Calvin Vessels, and Bobby Rattan.

Casket bearers were Brad Baxter, Brian Baxter, Colt Compton, Marty Kueckelhan, Quincy Kueckelhan, Jared Shelton, Stanley Smith, and Jackie Thomas.

Thompson adds baseball manager Ready to Coach Smaller Ball: Job at Class 1A Ector fulfills6/9/20to coaching duties at Class 1A Ector new softball manager’s goal

By Rich Hilliard ECTOR -- Terry Drain might seen like an odd choice as the new softball manager for Class 1A Ector.

His previous 15 years in the profession had come in the Metroplex at much larger schools.

Drain had spent his last five years at 6A Lewisville Hebron and the previous 10 at now 6A McKinney High School.

However, the move to Ector fit into his plan.

“At this point in my career,” said Drain, “ I had always wanted to end up at a small school.

“When I saw the opening (at Ector),” he said. “it appealed to me.

“They have had success and I hope I can continue on with that.”

Drain, who will also coach junior high softball and jayvee girls basketball at Ector, fills the opening created when longtime Lady Eagles manager Jayson Adams (2010-2020) asked to move to the boys side of athletics at the school.

During their last three complete softball seasons, Adams coached Ector in 2017 and 2019 to regional semifinals advances -sandwiched around a 2018 trip to the 1A state championship game.

Two years ago, the Lady Eagles lost, 3-0, in the 1A softball title game to defending-champion Slocum at McCombs Field in Austin.

“I had looked into it and had seen the success they have had,” said Drain. “That definitely appealed to me.”

Though her first season of high school softball got cut short just as district play had started in mid March -when, due to COVID-19, the University Interscholastic League first paused and a month later canceled all sanctioned spring activities -- Hooten had already made an impact on sports at Ector.

She shared the District 231A newcomer of the year award in girls basketball, after helping the Lady Eagles in February to their fourth-consecutive arearound advance.

Drain has experience with pitchers and postseason teams.

At Hebron, he worked with hitters and pitchers as the varsity assistant, as the Lady Hawks made bi-district appearances to end their last four complete seasons.

With Drain on staff -- the last two as manager -- McKinney made the postseason during eight of his last nine years there. One of those advances, while he was a varsity assistant, reached the regional semifinals.

Note: Terry Drain also has softball coaching experience outside of high school.

Last summer, he worked with the Texas Glory 18U, after a couple of years with the American Freedom 16U team.

By Rich Hilliard ECTOR -- Wesley Thompson has been a part of Class 1A Ector’s continued success in boys basketball the last two years, serving as assistant coach.

Thompson will continue in that role during the 2020-21 school year.

He will also hope now to foster similar good fortune for the baseball team as its manager.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to take over,” said Thompson of the promotion.

“We’ve been working hard to get the boys in a mindset of contributing to every aspect of the athletic program,” he said. “It’s great to be in a place that has the same kids competing for the

entire year.”

Thompson had previously served as the baseball assistant at Ector under Blake Turner who will continue to be the head boys basketball coach.

Under them, last season, Ector won its third boys basketball district title in the last four years, made a second regional quarterfinals trip during that span, posted a 30-7 season overall record and garnered a sixthconsecutive postseason.

It equates the first head baseball coaching position for Thompson who will be assisted by Jayson Adams, who, per his request, is moving to the boys side of athletics at Ector.

Adams had previously served as head coach of Ector’s softball team

for the last 10 years -highlighted by a 2018 trip to the 1A state final.

The Lady Eagles lost, 3-0, in the 1A softball title game to defendingchampion Slocum at McCombs Field in Austin.

The previous and following seasons to the state advance, Adams managed Ector to trips to the softball regional semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Eagles, the last three complete seasons (2017-19) had postseason advances -- the last two coming under Turner -prematurely cut short in the bi-district round by Dodd City -- which was en route to successive trips to the regional semfinals, regional final and state semifinals.

Each time, Ector advanced as District 112A baseball’s No. 2 seed to the 1A postseason.

“Baseball at Ector is a place where we can make improvements to produce success,” said Thompson.

“Coach (Jayson) Adams and I have high hopes for the future and a good amount of potential coming up.”

DONALD WAYNE LITTRELL Memorial Services will be held at a later date for Donald Wayne Littrell, age 74, of Telephone, Texas. Cremation arrangements have been made under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Donald passed away Tuesday night, July 7, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Donald was born on April 14, 1946 in Borger, Texas the son of Cordie Reese Littrell and Wilma Lena Lamb Littrell. He bravely served in the United States Army in the 1st Air Calvary during the Vietnam War. Donald married Katherine Ann Butler on July 1, 1972 at the Telephone Baptist Church in Telephone, Texas. They were married for 48 years before his passing. Donald was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing on the river, hunting, and working on old cars. Donald loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Wayne Littrell, and brothers, Pete Littrell, Bill Littrell, and CR (Red) Littrell.

His nephew, Larry Head officiated. Mr. Head passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Mr. Head was born on November 7, 1930 in Dermott, Arkansas, the son of Elby Oreon Head and Margaret Burchfield Head. He married Sharron Chapman on May 29, 1970. He

worked with the Raytheon Corporation as a Director in Manufacturing.

He enjoyed traveling in RV’s on numerous trips and collecting model trains. He was a longtime member of the Dallas Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son DeWayne Head on April 12th, 2020, his brother James Head and his grandson, Gary Head in 2018.

He is survived by his wife Sharron Head of Dodd City, Texas and sons, Danny Head of Lindale, Texas, Owen Head and wife Mary of Coppell, Texas, Robert Head of Big Spring, Texas and his daughters, Angela Head of Dallas and Arigayle Head and fiancé, Andrew Skinner of Argyle, TX, grandchildren, Natalie Head, Ashley Head, Kiefer Head, Morgan Kimbrell and husband Caleb, Danny Head, Jr., Rodney Head, Conner McBain and Grand-dog, Sally and numerous great grandchildren.

Jerry passed away at home on Monday, July 6, 2020 with his loving wife by his side.

Jerry Neal Nichols was born in Randolph, TX on April 7, 1935 to Jesse Alvin and Allie Vera (Barker) Nichols. He married Terri Jo (Fowler) Nichols on August 12, 1975 in Hugo, OK. Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger and believed his purpose in life was to help others. Jerry led a colorful and cheerful life. Jerry was a self-employed welder; but most remember him for his passion for working equipment to the limits, and moving structures that others said couldn’t be moved. He “enjoyed a challenge.” He was a very hard working man that enjoyed being outdoors, tending to livestock or just doing whatever he felt like doing. Jerry was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and had been a perpetual member of Albany Lodge 159 for over 50 years. He is of the Methodist faith.

He was a member of Wild Horse Creek Cowboy Church.

Diane Dooley, 84, passed away on June 29, 2020, peacefully in her home in Athens, Tx. Diane was born in Paris, Tx; and was the daughter of Howard Johnson and Dorothy VanNoy Johnson.

She was raised in the Fannin County community of Dodd City.

She leaves behind a son, Rick Morgan, of Bonham, Tx; a daughter, Lisa Mullins, of Combine, Tx; 3 grandchildren, Nathan Morgan of Bonham, Tx., Lauren Thompson of Trinidad, Tx and Jessica Mullins of Combine, Tx. She also has 4 great grandchildren, Madison, Cayson, Rylan and Keslyn.

She will be missed by everyone who knew her gentle kindness and hospitality. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1989 and a son, James Bruce Morgan, in 1976.

As a young woman, Diane began her career as a telephone operator at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. After raising her family, Diane later worked

for the Dallas Morning News for over 20 years and retired in 1998 as a Communications Dept. Supervisor.

Diane was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and walking her lap dog ‘Rascal’ twice daily; and, even at 84, would walk up to 1-2 miles every day. Recently, Diane penned a recollection of her childhood, that many who knew her and her family from Fannin County and Dodd City, can appreciate. It reminds us all of a simpler life and times; and is as follows: “Everything I know from childhood comes from one tiny rural town in Texas. Thinking about it today, it seems like a fairy tale. It was a place where children could roam around all day or get on their bikes and ride ‘uptown’ without worry. There was practically no crime at all. People never locked their doors. Growing up in Dodd City was like growing up in the mythical town of Mayberry. We even had a ‘Gomer’; or, maybe, I’m just remembering this through a child’s eyes. I had the best Granny (Jesse Southard VanNoy) and Mama (Dorothy V. Johnson) that anyone could have. They gave so much of themselves to me – probably more than they should have. My friends and I enjoyed that town and people more than anyone will ever know.”

Fannin County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Fannin County invite you to be a part of our Garden to Table project.

July 13, 20, 27 from 8am-12pm, we will be accepting garden fresh produce at the Derrell Hall Education Center (2505 N. Center Street in Bonham). This produce will be distributed to families during the Feeding Fannin weekly meals.

John and Martha Bearden of Ravenna, have been so generous to donate delicious fresh squash and zucchini to reach more than 800 people so far!

The goal of this partnership is to share the abundance from your home garden with those who have limited access to fresh produce, and at the same time, reduce food waste.

NEWS FROM ECTOR I.S.D. Dear Ector Eagle Families, My name is Jennifer Morris and I am excited to introduce myself as the superintendent of Ector ISD! Ector ISD has high standards and high expectations for their staff and students. I am truly honored to have been chosen to lead this district and entrusted with your child’s and the well-being of our district.

But they that wait uponeducation the LORD I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I “grew up”. I have had shall renew their strength; they shall career thus far and continue to surprise myself! I a very blessed have been in education for 16 years. I began my educational journey as a first grade/ mount up on wings asreading Eagles… recovery teacher and later a second grade teacher in Dodd City ISD and then in Anna40:31 ISD. During my time in Anna, I moved into a reading specialist position for -Isaiah several years and then took on the role as assistant principal for Anna Middle School.

From there, I was blessed with an elementary principal position for two years at S&S Consolidated ISD. I have most recently been the principal of the elementary campus here in Ector the past 3 years.

I look forward to working with Mr. Evans and Mr. Bankston this school year. Mr. Bankston will step into the principal role for the elementary campus and Mr. Evans will continue the principal role for junior high and high school. We will absolutely work together to provide the highest standards of education for your children. From the first day the Pre-Kers walk into the building until the last day the seniors leave class for the last time, it is my job to staff We are extremely proud of you &see wishthat youall each the will work as a team to ensure their success. You, the parent, are a vital part of this Ector team! We look forward to working with you to achieve your child’s goals. best in your endeavors!

Ector ISD would like to introduce Justin Bankston as the principal of our elementary campus! Mr. Bankston is a graduate of Bonham High School. He is entering his sixteenth year in education; fourteen of which was spent in the classroom.

Mr. Bankston is coming to us from Cooper ISD where he held the title and responsibilities of assistant principal at their middle school campus.

Mr. Bankston has been married to his lovely wife, Nita, for a number of years and together they have a son, Logan. His hobbies include working in the garden, raising cattle and spending time with his family. We are very excited to have Mr. Bankston join us and know he will be an asset to our district!
