Bonham City Council Meeting: Formally Accepts Mayor Roy Floyd’s Resignation, Revisits City Drainage System Issues and Spring Election Topics Visited

The Bonham City Council Meeting began with the Invocation being led by Henry Shelton of Trinity Baptist Church. Mayor Pro Tem H.L. Compton called the Regular Meeting of the Bonham City Council to order Monday, February 8, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. 1. Consider and take action to approve minutes of the January 11th regular meeting: Motion was made and passed to approve minutes. 2. Consider and take action to accept financial report for month ending January 31, 2021: Director of Finance Dave Struchtemeyer gave a summary of the report. Motion was made and passed to accept report.
3. Citizens Opportunity to Speak: The first citizen to speak, stated she was opposed to the proposed additional charge to the water bill of $2.33 that was voted on in the previous council meeting as well as previous raises to the water bill. She stated she was in favor of the drainage system but as a senior citizen on a fixed income, she wishes the City would find another way to fund the cost other than raising the water bill she and many like her; have a difficult time affording. Next to speak was another citizen concerned about the increasing charges added to the water bill. Specifically, the $4.00 charge added to the water bill to cover the costs of the poly cart used for garbage services. He
