“For the last 32 years I’ve worked at two different nonprofits where mental health is a huge part of the services we provide, mostly directed at young people,” especially those who have suffered abuse, of which "suicide is one of the side effects,” Barber comments. This is but one perspective Barber has of Fannin’s need for mental health resources.

From her vantage point as longtime youth leader and elder at First Presbyterian in Bonham, Barber sees how suicide affects her faith community. Barber gets youth and other church members to participate in the annual Fannin Walk 4 Hope as an act of healing and hope.

According to the Wonder Database published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national suicide rate from 2016-2020 was 13.8 deaths by suicide per 100,000 people. For Texas, that number was 13.3, but for Fannin County, the suicide rate was 23.1 per 100,000—well above the national average.

Depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide affect people of all ages. “There are just not enough mental health services in Fannin County,” Barber said. This is one reason she participates each year in Fannin Walk 4 Hope.

This year’s walk, held Saturday morning, September 30 at the Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham, raised $19, 500 to support the Fannin Behavioral Health Leadership Team’s efforts to reduce the

suicide rate in Fannin County by increasing mental health services. Walk organizer Cindy Bankston reported, "Our major community partners are the Fannin County Health Authority, and the Texoma Health Foundation. Platinum sponsors for the Walk were: Legacy Ridge Country Club, McCraw Oil & Propane, Utter Pike Dobbs Wealth Management, Texoma Health Foundation, Glaser Family Charitable Foundation, and Prophecy Radio Group LLC.” 275 participants turned out for the event, including Barber, who has personal as well as professional reasons for walking to prevent suicide.

Barber walks for fellow church camp counselor, Blake, and for Shonda, an agency volunteer, both friends who died by suicide. As always, Barber encouraged her church’s youth group and others who grieve a loved one’s suicide to Walk 4 Hope. As with her yard work, Barber is willing to sweat it out to cut back Fannin County’s suicide statistics. Barber knows it is good for participants to come together and “to express that grief and to do something with that grief…to realize they’re not alone.”

A friend who heard Barber’s kindness pledge said, “When you get all that done, I’m gonna come over…” In anticipation of such visits, and to get herself to relax outside more, Barber bought a couple of outdoor rocking chairs for her now-tended yard. Barber’s intention to engage in a mentally replenishing activity is strengthened by accountability to that friend, leading to deeper connection with another person invested in her wellbeing. This is what Fannin Walk 4 Hope accomplishes, too. While participants raise money for mental health services, they forge connections with each other, sharing grief, stories, strength and hope.

‘Snapshot’ day on Friday, Oct. 27 - the first of three parts of the University Interscholastic League's 2024 biennial realignment -- could be interesting again for Bonham - whether it will extend its recent stay in Class 3A or return to 4A. Bonham High School on Sept. 27 had an enrollment of 565 "and has remained pretty steady for the past 3-4 weeks," according to superintendent Kelly Trompler.

If Bonham's Average Daily Membership submission -aka, its 'snapshot' -- to the UIL equates a comparable number on Oct. 27, a return to 4A -- for the first time since the 2017-18 athletic year -- could

follow for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 athletic years.

In the 2022 realignment, the UIL maximum ADM to compete in 3A equated a 544 -- an increase of 30 from 2020's 514. The maximum was 504 in 2018 and 479 in 2016.

Recent 'snapshots' submitted by Bonham have been: 507 (2021), 499 (2019), 488 (2017), 519 (2015).

Following the submission of ADMs, minimums and maximums for each of the UIL's six classifications -- and Division I and II within these, regarding 5A-1A football - will be released later this calendar year.

Road Work updates for Week ending 9/29/2023 As commissioner, I plan to let you know every week what we accomplished the week before in regards to our slogan "On the road to Recovery".

As citizens, you expect us to be out working daily in the precinct and bringing our county roads back up to at least a minimum standard.

This week I want to highlight one of our dedicated employees, Lanny Laird.

Lanny started with us four weeks ago filling pot holes and has done an excellent job.

For the past two weeks Lanny has been cleaning up after the tree trimming machine and has received kudo's from the public passing him on the roads for the job he is doing.

One customer in particular, J.R. Rice on County Road 1155 called in to make sure we passed along how good a job Lanny was doing and his excellent work ethic in going above and beyond in doing a great job for the county.

For the week ending

September 29, 2023 the team was able to grade the following county roads: 1245, 1400, 1405, 1410, 1415, 1420, 1421, 1440, 1455, 1460, 1520, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2040, 2041, 200, 2215, 2230, 2231, 2235, 2500, 2505, 2510, and 2600.

The team finished clearing the brush on CR 2600 (at least 35 loads of brush) and have also finished most of CR's 1155 and 1160. They are removing large dead trees on CR 1130 currently. Our goal going forward is to cut the brush, remove any that falls in the roadway's and then come back with the mulcher on the front of the skid steer and mulch up all the trimmings.

We will be receiving a new tractor and mower, a brush cutter for the skid steer, and a set of pallet forks the first week of October. An employee will start mowing the right-ofways as soon as possible. We want to keep them in front of the graders so they do not have to contend with as much grass when they come through.

You are welcome to call us with any concerns or areas that need attention within the precinct. Please understand though, the issues we are dealing with were not created in a day, week, or even a year and it will take a while to fix them.

Fannin Electric Cooperative – A New Name and Face, Same Values

Every year around the same time, the not-for-profit utility company formerly known as Fannin County Electric Cooperative that serves this county and others, includes in their monthly magazine, (Texas Co-Op Power) an invitation to all their board members (customers) to attend the Co-Op’s annual meeting.

This year the company held its 86th meeting Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex. By 10:00 a.m., the complex was filled with board members young and old who were treated with very nice give-aways.

After a quorum of members was established and an invocation was led followed by the pledge of allegiance to the flag, the meeting was off and running with Fannin Electric

Board President Steve Collida and Fannin Electric CEO John Ed Shinpaugh, presiding over the meeting. Representatives from different departments and districts of the Co-Op as well as a representative from Techline and the CEO of the Rayburn Electric Cooperative were present at the meeting where impressive numbers of growth (currently the 19th fastest growing cooperative out of 802 cooperatives across the nation) and success were explained to the board members that coincided with the business report that was included in the tote bag of freebies. Mr. Collida spoke about the new building that is projected to be operational in the Spring of 2024 and is located north of the multi-purpose complex at 2201 FM 87. Having been needed for some time, the plans for the new building were put off until such a time

that the profit margin would better allow for its creation.

Then, after touching on fiduciary responsibility of the cooperative and explaining why it had been necessary to raise electric rates this year, he went on to announce there would be a lowering by approximately 2 cents of those same electric rates. Mr. Shinpaugh followed Steve with his report of the phenomenal growth (currently approaching 12,000 meters) occurring and the status of the cooperative, detailing the successful actions of employees that have made the current rate reduction possible.

And if a rate reduction wasn’t good enough news, attendees were informed that Fannin County Electric Cooperative customers/board members will receive a credit on their electric bill some time in December of this year due to capital credits made possible

by the more than competent actions and decisions of the cooperative.

After more business information was reported on along with opportunities for questions from board members, and before the meeting would conclude, a drawing was held for door prizes. My absolute favorite part of this meeting was the drawing of names of many of the children who attended the meeting with their family member/members to receive $50- and $20-dollar prizes. The sheer joy on the faces of the young people whose names were drawn (and who are learning at an early age how a well working cooperative can give back to the community), along with the knowledge that I could look forward to my electric bill going down a bit, made this meeting by far, my favorite of the year.

10/10/23 Fannin County and the City of Ladonia Residents are ENTITLED to a SAFE place to hold their meetings and Should have Elections without the worry of INTIMIDATION, DISRESPECT or VOTER FRAUD. Many Citizens are disappointed with Our District Attorney and some Members of Our Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Department. While our Sheriff’s Office is understandably short handed at times, this does not excuse their leaving reports and cases unattended for months on end.

Fannin County Citizens and The City of Ladonia Mayor, Council members and Citizens should be able to attend meetings without the fear of being Physically or Verbally assaulted, as has already happened and continues. When Brought to Law Enforcement attention, Reports and Cases move slow or are put on Hold. If the FILED, PHYSICAL ALTERCATION CASE would have been taken care of maybe the VERBAL ALTERCATIONS would not have escalated, as the perpetrators have no fear of repercussions for their actions. This seems to be Fuel for citizens or Newly elected Council members to continue their disrespectful (and at times what could be interpreted as dangerous) behavior. We need These Issues To STOP! The persons Involved have to be held Accountable and Prosecuted! We have a lot of things happening in our small cities. We have Special Elections Coming Up and some Very Important Yearly Elections in the near future, and the use of perceived INTIMIDATION and FEAR has no place in these settings.

In the First part of June 2023 a report was made of POSSIBLE VOTER FRAUD was brought to the Attention of our DISTRICT ATTORNEY, questioning the validity of some citizens Who RESIDE IN FANNIN COUNTY BUT NOT IN THE CITY OF WHICH THEY VOTED IN A CITY ELECTION, HIS RESPONSE WAS “WELL, THEY PROBABLY INTENDED ON MOVING INTO THE CITY” and this REPORT needed to be taken to the SHERIFF’S OFFICE. The report was delivered to the Sheriff’s office around the middle of June 2023. After SEVERAL phone calls Requesting a Status Report and receiving no RESPONSE, I finally met with an investigator Thursday September 28th. Possible VOTER FRAUD in this day and time is very serious and needs to be addressed as such.

OUR ELECTIONS are one of the only ways OUR VOICES can be heard and MUST BE PROTECTED! Qualifications to vote can be found @ Texas title 2. Voter qualifications and registration Chapter 11.

Linda Pirtle offers her thoughts as the luncheon keynote speaker with her topic Dare to Write. The retired educator transitioned from teaching the art of writing and understanding litera-ture as an English teacher to becoming the award-winning author of her own cozy mysteries. Her “The Games We Play” series was inspired by a fascination with the dastardly murder mysteries solved by the lady next door who relies on intuition, instinct, and deductive reasoning, and hav-ing a special sidekick doesn't hurt. Ms. Pirtle published her first novel, The Mah Jongg Murders, in 2015, earning a five-star Readers Favorite Award and an instant fan base.

Books two and three, Deadly Dominoes and Tarot Terrors both earned Best Cozy Mystery Texas Authors for 2018 and 2019 respectively. The fourth book of the series, Scrabbled Secrets, was published in 2020.

The Christian series reveals how people bent on evil can ruin an innocent, fun game. Ms.

Pirtle is also a member of the Underground Authors, a cooperative effort between multiple au-thors who created the “Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles.”

The singularly written books are set in a small town in the Texas Hill Country where murder and mayhem reign. Her current contri-butions to the series include The Dewey Decimal Dilemma and The Dog Gone Diamond Dilem-ma. Before becoming an author, Ms. Pirtle served as editor for many great books currently in the marketplace. Nonfiction author Rusty Williams finishes up the day with The Challenge of Finding Different Biographical Styles to Differentiate Between Characters. The author of six books with five on Texas topics, he covers history as told through the stories of the people who lived it. More often than not, history is driven by the wellknown men and women read about in newspa-pers and text books. Yet, it's the ordinary folks who dealt with the consequences or benefits of actions of the well-known that can be the most interesting. Williams’ research leads him to the real people trying to navigate dayto-day life under the shadows of big events. The author sees more drama in the story of a cash-strapped young farm couple trying to raise a family and find work during hard times than the story of the economics during the Great Depression. His latest work, Texas Loud, Proud, and Brash: How Ten Mavericks Created the Twentieth-Century Lone Star State describes how Texans gained the reputation of being oversized, cocky, loud, and sports-crazy, while wading in oil riches. Rusty Williams’ career began in the newsroom writing for The Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star Telegram, San Antonio Express-

News, and Asso-ciated Press.

My beautiful daughter-in-law, Jordan Holland submitted this one for our readers to try at home. She is a good cook and always can come up with something fun and delicious for our family to enjoy!

To make the funnel cake batter begin by sifting together dry ingredients into a large bowl: flour, baking powder, and salt.

In another medium mixing bowl, stir together eggs, milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and stir to combine.

Heat oil in a deep fryer, or deep pot to 350° on a deep-fry thermometer over a medium-

high heat. Put batter in a ziplock, and cut a small hole in the corner or use a squeeze bottle to pour batter into the hot oil in a random pattern with a circular motion. It might take a little practice to make the perfect funnel cake.

You can make large or mini funnel cake forms. Fry until golden brown, and flip over to the second side with a slotted spoon or metal tongs. Repeat until you've used all the batter.

Drain fried funnel cake on paper towel-lined plate or wire rack for the excess oil to drain, and then add a generous sprinkling of powdered sugar. Optional: Serve the warm funnel cake with a popular topping like ice cream, whipped cream, fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, or cinnamon sugar.

Christians In Action

By Mike Dickison Minister for the Ivanhoe Church of Christ Many people think of Christianity as a passive religion.

We hear “turn the other cheek” or “judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matthew 5:39 & Matthew 7:1). Those that are against Christianity, want it to be a passive religion. In the Bible, we find that Christianity is a religion of ACTION! One of the actions of a Christian is to study our Bibles.

Even Christians, sometimes, fail to understand the difference in the Old Testament and the New Testament. To Christians that wanted to live by the Old Testament, Paul wrote that Jesus “took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross” (Colossians 2:14). The churches in Galatia heard the message that Christians are to “fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2), not the Law of Moses.

Another action of Christians is to honor God in our homes.

We must teach our children

God’s word, and then we must be examples of God’s word.

Parents are to raise children by bringing “them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Our homes are to be the best place for our children to be taught, corrected, instructed, and encouraged.

Purity is an action that every Christian must strive for. We are told to “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:31).

Paul wrote “keep thyself pure” (1 Timothy 5:22) and to “abstain from fornication” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

The action of worship is not only authorized by God, but also commanded by Christ.

Jesus said that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). We are informed by the Lord that “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10).

Longing for Heaven is another action that every Christian must have. The church in Philippi read these words, “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). We are told to “seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1).

Seeking the lost is an action that Christians desperately need to be involved in. Jesus said that he came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 1:10). Jesus came from heaven to this world that “they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Peter said of Jesus Christ, that “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

These topics will be preached Sunday through Wednesday, October 15 at 9:30am, 10:30am, and 2:30pm and then October 16-18 at 7:30pm each evening. Please come for the action.

Hebrews 11:1-3 The Bible says very plainly about faith that it is a reality, something that gives “substance” to things before they become visible to the natural eye. 2 Corinthians 5:7 declares that we walk by faith, not by sight. When we are “born again” we are given spiritual eyes to see things and understand things that otherwise we could not discern without the Holy Spirit. When we are submitted to the Lord, He then begins to guide and lead us

by His Spirit; we follow Him in faith knowing He will not disappoint us or lead us astray.

We must learn to obey Him even when we do not see or understand how He is leading.

Texas pumpkin yields hurt by heat and drought Texas Crop and Weather Report Pumpkin production Mark Carroll, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Floyd County, said this year’s pumpkin production yields are down 20%-40% due to drought in areas where the bulk of Texas’ crop is grown.

Producers in Floyd County, also known as the Pumpkin Capital of Texas, have started to wrap up the pumpkin harvest. Pumpkins were planted in early June, and they quickly noticed drought created tough growing conditions that contributed to extremely low yields for most varieties.

“This year’s production has been a mixed bag,” said Danny

Nut, owner of DL Nut Farms in Floyd County. “Some varieties have produced their usual amount, but others were extremely low in quantity.”

Pumpkins usually do well in dry conditions if they can keep moisture in the soil around them through timely rainfall or irrigation systems. This year’s crop went six weeks without rain after mid-July, which was detrimental to production.

“DL Farms usually keeps drip irrigation over the pumpkins,” Nut said. “But this year, we decided to keep our crop irrigated with a pivot to try and keep up. It just couldn’t keep up.”

Pumpkin market While producers are dealing with production yields being down 20%-40%, they also must deal with the loss of pumpkins during shipping to wholesale markets.

Pumpkins produced in Floyd County are shipped across the state and nation, and producers are reporting increased fruit losses due to the extreme heat, which causes pumpkins to degrade in the trailers before they reach their destination.

“Producers have to replace the pumpkins that were lost once they arrive at the destination,”

by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Black bass are shallow around brush and timber. Look for windy banks late in the day. Larger fish are starting to chase shad in the backs of coves. Bream are shallow, try bead heads with spinners.

Lavon GOOD. Water lightly stained; 84-86 degrees; 5.33 feet below pool. Fishing patterns were holding steady leading into the cold front. Crappie are stacked up on submerged trees in 8-12 feet of water, with a few deeper, but brush piles in 7-11 feet of water are gold. 1/16 ounce jigs are outproducing minnows. Bushy top submerged trees are fishing great, single branch trees will hold 1-7 fish. Condo and bushy trees hold up to 100 or more fish. White Bass are in 7-15 feet of water on flats and ledges, and main lake points and the very end of boat ramps.

Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 90 degrees; 1.71 feet below pool. A series of cool fronts has cooled water temperatures to the lower 80s and we are seeing active fish feeding in many areas of the lake. The hybrid striper and white bass are herded up in big schools on many different lake points in 8-15 feet.

Texoma GOOD. Water stained; 86-88 degrees; 3.45 feet below pool. Striped bass continue to be hit-or-miss with smaller sized fish being caught under the birds, then blind casting shallow flats in 1-6 feet of water for larger fish. Best baits have been pencil poppers, slabs and now swimbaits are in play. Striped bass fishing is great. Big fish are along flats in 5-15 feet of water drifting gizzard shad, or working topwaters along the banks. Box fish are running the ledges in 30-40 feet of water on threadfin shad picking through a lot of smaller fish. Catfish are good drifting cut shad along flats in 15-25 feet of water and catching numbers on anchor in 30-40 feet of water off the bottom. Bass fishing is slow with the low lake levels.

With continued high demand, the low yields and heat-related shipping spoilage are likely to mean higher pumpkin prices compared to last year.

“Consumers should buy pumpkins as soon as they see them,” Carroll said.

CENTRAL The district experienced cooler weather with increased humidity. Some scattered storms earlier in the week damaged crops.

Despite the recent moisture and cool front, the district remained plagued by persistent drought and aboveaverage temperatures. Stock tanks were low, and creeks were holding stagnant puddles. Approximately 50% of the expected small grain fields had been planted and germinated. The cotton harvest was challenging due to the drought impacting yields and fiber quality. Pecan orchards were plagued by aphids, necessitating spraying due to their high numbers. The Pawnee pecan variety was expected to be ready for harvest soon with poor to fair yields and quality expected. Rangeland conditions improved slightly with greener pastures and hayfields reported as well, though additional rain was needed. In some counties, conditions improved enough for producers to consider another round of hay. Cattle remained in good condition, and supplemental feeding continued with a slight downturn.

NORTH The district was very dry as temperatures continued to stay high. Topsoil moisture levels ranged from short to adequate. No wheat or oats were planted. All crops except cotton were harvested.

Livestock conditions were fair to good. Pasture conditions improved in some counties, and pastures were still poor to fair due to drought.

By Malinda Allison, Fannin County Museum of History It has been very difficult to piece together the history of the Fannin County Fair. The Fair has been put on by a variety of organizations (with the same name!). Some years, for a variety of reasons, some lost to history, the Fair was not held. However, at some point the Fair returned, and Fannin County citizens are delighted that the Fair now takes place due to the hard work of many.

Since at least 1870 there has been interest in holding a County Fair in Fannin County.

A Fair was held in 1873. A Fannin County Fair Association was issued a charter by the State of Texas in 1887 to hold fairs and shows of live stock and poultry, agriculture, manufacturing and kindred phases of industry. This charter was placed in the cornerstone of the 1888 Fannin County Courthouse.

Fairs were held through 1896, but apparently for some reason the fair was not held for a number of years. The Fannin County Live Stock and Poultry Association was organized in 1921 and in 1925 spacious and suitable buildings were erected.

The City of Bonham secured new fair grounds and built two buildings north of the High School– one for agriculture and the other a livestock pavilion. This was on north Main Street where Rather Jr. High and the football field are now located.

In 1927 and then also in 1928 a wedding was held each year at the Fair. A lucky couple was selected and the event was wildly popular, in 1928 drawing a crowd of 8,000. Local merchants pro-

vided lots of gifts to the lucky couple.

In 1933 over 10,000 people attended the first day. The estimated attendance in 1934 was from 30,000 to 40,000.

In 1939 a proposal was made for a new fair grounds to be built by the WPA at a fiftythree square acre site with a race track and grandstands, rodeo and buildings.

In 1940 there was a Fair bond election for $20,000. It was approved by a 6-1 majority (352-55) In 1940 the Fair buildings were razed to make room for the new football stadium.

There were no fairs during the war years.

The Fair returned in 1946, with Sam Rayburn leading the opening parade for the 14th annual fair. The Fair was then located in north Bonham where Bonham Building Supply is now. The Fairgrounds extended back east to where the Pound and Fire Training grounds are and north to all the buildings now on the north side of Industrial Street.

In 1950 a square dance contest was slated for the last night of the fair, with 50 or 60 squares slated to enter. There was a 25 lap stock car race on

the track just west of the rodeo arena. The Veterans Vocation School had one of the largest exhibits.

In 1952 the County Fair was cancelled. The City, which owned the buildings, had leased the facility to someone else. The City had been paying off the bonds and paid for insurance and upkeep but little income had accrued to the City from the proceeds of the Fair.

For many years there was no Fair.

In 1962 the first annual Fannin County Junior Livestock Show was held. It was hoped it would be the first step toward the revival of the Fannin County Fair.

Then in 1963 the Fair returned and was held at the Armory.

In 1967, as an outgrowth of the Bonham Kiwanis Club’s search for a worthwhile project, a pavilion was built with donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.

Of course this pavilion is still in use today for Trade Days.

The number of events, contests, exhibits and booths that make up the Fair are too numerous to list here. It appears that every year there was

a carnival and most years the Fair began with a big parade.

In addition to the agricultural exhibits and events, the Fair had a Princess contest for young girls and a Queen contest for girls from the Fannin County high schools. There was also a pet show, concession and game stands and a carnival. There was a clothing contest and the women’s division included crafts and baked goods.

Most fairs began with a parade. The parades would have bands, floats and riding clubs.

The parades might have Boy Scouts and Camp Fire girls.

In 2005 the Fair moved to the Multipurpose Center where it will be held this year, beginning with a big parade.

Last year’s Fair was a great success and was enjoyed by many. Hat’s off to the very many volunteers who devote so many hours to the Fair.

Let’s hope for good weather and enjoy a great fair this year.

Cornelia (Spence) Thornton, age 82, of Telephone, TX was born on March 24, 1941 in Memphis, TN to William and Velma (Woodson) Spence.

She passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at home.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Telephone Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service at 12:30 pm.

Pastor Jase Waller officiated.

Interment followed at Forest Grove Cemetery.

Cornelia had 2 master’s degrees and was awarded Summa cum Laude. She attended California Baptist College, Midwestern Seminary, University of Texas in Austin, where she obtained her Master of Science Degree in Library and Information Science and University of Texas in Harlingen, where she obtained her Master of Education Degree. She taught at public schools in Alaska, California, and Texas.

Cornelia married Archie Lloyd Thornton on May 30, 1980 in California. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

She will be dearly missed by those that knew her.

Cornelia is survived by her husband Archie Thornton of Telephone, TX; and sister Sue Gass of Long Beach, CA; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Conelia is preceded in death by her parents William and Velma Spence.
