ICC-ONE Toastmasters Club

The Pen is mightier than the Sword – but Words are mightier than the Pen Words are like arrows, once spoken cannot be taken back! It is of paramount importance that one should speak the right words, in the right manner and at the right time!

ICC-ONE Toastmasters Club in Area 12 is the place to achieve and hone all the above skills. The Club has the distinction of being the BEST CLUB in Qatar and churning out Leaders and Champion speakers who are achievers in their professional, cultural and social fields. Our club is the ideal place to ameliorate one’s communication skills, thus achieving a successful and quality life.

The Pen is mightier than the Sword –but Words are mightier than the Pen.

If you want to improve the quality of your life, then you must first improve the quality of your communication skills. Although it matters “what you say” but it definitely depends a great deal on “how you say it”. What you say – can be your message, aim, or purpose. How you say it succinctly – involves, choice of effective words, effective body-language, and subtle persuasion Also it involves - how to begin, explain and end the message with a “message one can take home”. In a successful speech, one should have all the quality ingredients which should form a good “recipe”!

I take this opportunity to congratulate in advance all the participants in Area 12 Contests and wish them the very best!

R.S. KUMAR NAIDU, DTM

From the desk of an ardent Toastmaster

A great leader once said:

"...the basic philosophy and drive of an organization have far more to do with its relative achievements than to do with technological or economic resources.

I do believe all these things weigh heavily in success. But they are, I think, transcended by how strongly the people believe in its basic precepts and how faithfully they carry them out.

The most important single factor for an individual, an organization or even a club to succeed, is its COMMITMENT

Commitment Fellow Toastmasters! is to pledge yourself to a certain purpose or line of conduct It also means practicing what you preach consistently, the adherence to these beliefs will possibly be the best description of commitment "persistence with a purpose" .

There is an old saying that goes, "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything."

We as Toastmasters and professionals are constantly vying to be effective communicators and leaders, but we must possess a strong sense of personal integrity and self-confidence and the willingness to share the credit for success.

L E A P | MAY 2024 | VOL 2
"Our Greatest Glory is not in never falling but in raising every time we fall"

Friend’s the glue that holds us together are these values, and in demonstrating this commitment to others in our club.

Friends, the truth is commitment is hard work but it can be achieved through determination and persistence.

Let join hands and exhibit this commitment that stands the test of time

"Our Greatest Glory is not in never falling but in raising every time we fall"

Good Luck

ANTHONY MASCARENHAS,

From the desk of

Area 11 Director

Being an original, rather than a photo-copy

If you throw a pebble into a pond, it would cause ripples. Throw one into the Arabian Sea and what would happen? you would probably learn to swim!

Now, who said that? Nobody, I just made it up myself Why? Because now-a-days it has become the fashion for Toastmasters to quote from somebody-or-the-other

(So, here’s a business opportunity – ‘Quotable quotes for Toastmasters’ –synopsis – show how well-read you are, without actually having to read long, boring books.)

The point is, why do some Toastmasters love to parrot the sayings of somebody? Why not be just ourselves? At some point in time, we need to march to the beat of our own drums.

It might just make all the difference, taking the road less travelled by (to slightly mish-mash the words of Robert Frost)
