What’s The Grey Book. A database that connects LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color to affirming businesses in the Dan River Region & neighboring areas. Businesses, organizations, activists, and grassroots groups that join the list pledge to offer thoughtful, supportive, and highquality service to LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color.
Why is it called “The Grey Book.”
The “Green Book” was a publication used by Black folks during the “Jim Crow” & civil rights era to find safe and welcoming businesses while traveling. The “Lavender List” identifies LGBTQIA+ affirming businesses. When these two colors are combined it creates “Brown,” “Black,” or “Grey.” Therefore, the “Grey B”ook identities welcoming businesses for LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color.
