All About Lung Cancer Lungs are an important part of our body. They perform the vital operation of the exchange of gases in our system. Oxygen is absorbed and carbon dioxide is released. This functionality is important for every living cells. These cells can only operate properly with the right amount of oxygen. If the blood doesn’t receive adequate oxygen, then the results can be fatal. That is why healthy lungs promote a long and healthy life. These lungs are divided into several sections. Two lung structures are connected with the trachea Inside the lungs, bronchi and alveoli help in the transfer and exchange of gases. Lung cancer can happen in any of these regions. It not only blocks the pathway of oxygen and carbon dioxide but develops blisters and fluid-filled sacs inside the lungs. This can cause many complications inside the lungs. Apart from this, if the cancer is not treated on time, it can transmit to other regions of the body. Thus, a proper medical examination and treatment are required to cure this disease. General Information to Cancer In any type of cancer, the mutated cells grow rapidly in the body and harm the nearby cells. This growth is dangerous for our body and needs to be stopped immediately. It can happen due to various reasons like age, smoking, diet, and family history of cancer. The recovery process depends on the stage of cancer and the type of treatment done. If detected at the right time, the cancer cells can be removed by a surgeon. Lung cancers are divided into two types namely non-small cell and small cell. These are named according to the size of the cancer cell. A basic description of these types is given below: Non-Small Cell This is a common category of lung cancer. It is further divided into three types: Squamous Cell Cancer: The primary cause of cancer in the squamous cells of the lungs is smoking. This cancer originates in these flat cells that are present in the airways. After that, the cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body. Large Cell Carcinoma: This type of lung cancer can form in any area of the lungs. This is a rapidly growing cancer that is difficult to cure by doctors.
