How to get to Grapevine and all around town once you’ve arrived.
Planes, trains and automobiles don’t just appear in classic movie titles; they also transport more than 12 million visitors to Grapevine each year. Whether you’re traveling from another part of North Texas, elsewhere in the state, from across the country or oceans away, you’re covered. In The Dallas Morning News’ 2025 edition of its “Best in DFW” People’s Choice Awards, Grapevine won “Best Adventure Within a Day’s Drive,” so make plans to find out why. Of course, it’s also a great adventure within a quick flight, too.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has added a new, 26-mile Silver Line commuter rail service that connects stations in Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Plano and Richardson to Grapevine. The train stops at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Terminal B Station.
DFW International Airport officially resides in Grapevine. The world’s third busiest airport welcomes more than 86 million visitors each year, and Grapevine can be reached in a matter of minutes, whether by rail, car, Grapevine Visitors Shuttle and on-demand rideshare service.
Beginning in Fort Worth and covering 27 miles to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Trinity Metro TEXRail service stops conveniently at Grapevine Main Station on Historic Main Street. Like the DART Silver Line, it also stops at DFW Airport North Station and DFW Airport Terminal B Station, adding another option for Grapevine-bound travelers.
Roadtrippers have numerous options for getting to Grapevine, too. State Highways 114 and 121 intersect within Grapevine, and each can be easily accessed from President George Bush Turnpike and both Interstates 635 and 35. And once you arrive, you’ll feel miles away from the hustle and bustle.

Once you’re settled into your hotel room, you’ve parked your car for a day trip or just jumped off the commuter train, getting around the destinatinon couldn’t be simpler. The free Grapevine Visitors Shuttle service operates Tuesday – Sunday across three routes (Merlot, Green and Blue) around Grapevine. Pickup and drop-off are available at Grapevine Main Station, Historic Main Street Station, Grapevine Mills, DFW Airport Terminal D, Hyatt Regency, Gylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, Great Wolf Lodge and more than two dozen other hotels, restaurants and popular area businesses. During major Grapevine events, shuttle hours may vary. Check GrapevineTexasUSA.com/ plan-your-visit/transportation for the most up-to-date information.
Grapevine Visitor Information Center
This visitor’s magazine provides bountiful options for maximizing quality time spent in Grapevine, but you can also meet face to face with experts at the Grapevine Visitor Information Center who can offer travelers advice, extra services and amenities once in town.

As a World Festival and Event City, there’s never a shortage of reasons to visit.

Celebrate the diversity and deliciousness of Texas wines at this four-day festival, held each September.
Right before Summer fades into Fall, GrapeFest®: A Texas Wine Experience devotes an entire long weekend dedicated to all things Chardonnay, Blanc du Bois, Sangiovese and every varietal in between. This year, the festival marks its milestone 40th year, so expect an even more celebratory vibe. From Thursday morning, September 17, until early evening Sunday, September 20, the festival offers opportunities for you to fully immerse yourself in wine culture with activities that go far beyond the tastings.

First and foremost, GrapeFest exists to celebrate wine drinkers and Texas winemakers, one of the most perfect relationships in history. With the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, the Largest Consumer-Judged Wine Competition in the United States, the stakes are high for those entering their wines for consideration. Meet and mingle with the makers themselves while tasting the fermented fruits of their labor, with fan favorites revealed on GrapeFest’s final day. In this year’s “Best in DFW” People’s Choice program presented

by The Dallas Morning News, GrapeFest took home the Gold! As the reigning “Best Food and Drink Festival,” there’s never been a better time to check it out in person.
To truly appreciate the greatness of Texas wines, you need to compare local pours to vintages and varietals from around the globe. (And this “research” makes a great excuse to sip several.) Or “travel” to some of the countries represented, including Australia, Mexico and others at the International Wine Experience.
Lucille Ball may hold the title of most famous grape stomper in history (at least to a few generations of comedy fans), but you too can dip your tootsies into some Tempranillo or press your little piggies into some Pinot (actual grapes used to be determined) at the festival’s GrapeStomp. Register with a partner, then compete against other duos to see how much juice you can mash from 18 pounds of grapes in two minutes. Kids can also participate in their own version.
Ready, aim, pop! Grab a champagne bottle, face a wall of targets and let the corks take flight. The Champagne Cork Shoot-Off
takes place each day of GrapeFest, with the highest-point-earning shooters winning prizes and an invitation to the final showdown on Sunday.
Mix in some non-wine-related competition over the course of the weekend, with a few athletic endeavors. Register for the off-site GrapeFest Pickleball and Tennis Classic with cash prizes in multiple categories. By the end, you’ll either work off a couple of glasses of wine or make room for a couple more, however you choose to look at it.

Learn something new each day of GrapeFest and treat yourself to some upgraded experiences while you’re at it. Register for wine master classes led by top wine educators, attend a wine-andfood pairing seminar or earn certification after attending certain classes (or all of the above!). VIP experiences include exclusive tasting experiences at the International Wine Experience and Champagne Terrace.

Eat, Drink (Wine) and Be Merry. Unwrap everything the Christmas Capital of Texas® has to o er.
Though Santa hasn’t permanently relocated to Grapevine from the North Pole, he should certainly consider the move. Sunshine instead of snow. Longhorns rather than fame-hungry reindeer. And most importantly, wine in place of eggnog. As the courtship of making Mr. Claus a permanent resident continues, Grapevine has plenty to keep its citizens and visitors busy as the Christmas Capital of Texas®.

Grapevine Vintage Railroad transforms for Christmas with North Pole Express®, completely decked out in cheery decor and attended to by merry elves throughout the round-trip journey. Two of Santa’s jolliest elves sing, dance and read from storybooks as the choo-choo

It’s all capped off with cookies from the kitchen of Mrs. Claus and a souvenir mug of Frosty Chocolate Snow Milk. Pro-tip: These experiences sell out every year, so book as soon as tickets go on sale in early Fall.
The Merry and Bright Christmas Drone Shows create an eye-popping spectacle courtesy of 400 drones for about 10 minutes on two nights during the Christmas season.

No festival would be complete without festival food classics, both savory and sweet. Start with smoked turkey legs, hot dogs and tacos, then head into sweet treats territory with cotton candy, funnel cakes and snow cones.
It wouldn’t be a Grapevine festival without some fine, Texas wine, so enjoy a glass of vino from the Wine Pavilions but don’t forget to check out the Craft Brew Experience sponsored by Gaylord Texan Resort, where you can sample some of the newest and brightest craft brews.

Immerse yourself in the local art scene by browsing a juried exhibition with the Grapevine Art Project and even procure a painting, sculpture or photograph to add to your personal collection.

You may also go home with a prize after testing your skill (or luck) at one of the traditional Midway games.

With a name like “Grapevine,” you may expect that wine would be a major part of the city’s story. And, you’d be right!

Grapevine has transformed its Historic District into one of the most concentrated and walkable wine experiences in the state, a living showcase for the energy, diversity and ambition of Texas wine itself. Spend a weekend here, glass in hand, and you’ll soon realize why the town is known as The Wine Capital of Texas. Texas, after all, is no slouch in the national wine landscape. According to WineAmerica’s 2025 Economic Impact Study, the state is home to 617 wine producers and roughly 14,000 acres of vineyards, generating more than $24 billion in economic activity. That places Texas firmly among the country’s top wine-producing states — fifth in number of wineries — and its winemaking roots run deep, as far back as the 1650s. Grapevine is where it all comes together. Here, visitors can experience the best of Texas wines in a wonderful and refreshingly different urban setting.

Grapevine’s Historic Main Street, lined with 19th-century storefronts, boutiques and restored buildings, is the heart of the city’s Urban Wine Trail, a collection of tasting rooms representing some of Texas’s celebrated producers. It’s a model built not on expansive vineyards but on accessibility. Wander a few blocks and taste your way across the state without ever leaving the Historic District.
Begin at Messina Hof Grapevine Winery, located inside a replica of the original 1891 Wallis Hotel. One of Texas’s pioneering family wineries, Messina Hof brings more than 40 wines to its Historic
Main Street tasting room, from crisp whites to bold reds and even limited releases specifically for this location. It’s a fitting anchor for the town’s wine identity: heritage-driven but inviting and always ready to pour something surprising.
Bingham Family Vineyards offers an entirely different expression of Texas wine. A 100-percent estate producer from the Texas High Plains, the Bingham Family Farms roughly 200 acres and supplies fruit to a wide range of wineries. Their tasting room highlights the clarity and focus of High Plains winemaking.
For a lighter, more playful stop, Grape Vine Springs Winery

serves approachable wines and the occasional wine slushie. Meanwhile, Bull Lion Ranch Winery adds an Italian accent with Texas-grown Sangiovese, Dolcetto and Montepulciano, all reflecting the old-world sensibility the owners bring to their craft. Cross Timbers Winery sits in one of Grapevine’s oldest homes, with a rustic, shady patio perfect for lingering over a glass while listening to live music.
And the Urban Wine Trail doesn’t end there — Landon Winery, the all-new Red Dirt Cellars and Winestein’s Tasting Room round out the full lineup, giving visitors numerous distinct tasting rooms

to explore within just a few walkable blocks. And look out for the pink 1888 Victorian home in the Historic Downtown, where Housewife Rebellion is opening a tasting room in early 2026.
The town provides other unique wine offerings: Wine Fusion Winery brings you wine experiences, blending classes and a gallery as well as a restaurant, while Off the Vine, a wine shop and cellar, sells boutique wines from top wine-growing regions and also schedules tastings, tours and events, as well as whiskey tastings.
Together, these tasting rooms and wine shops make Grapevine one of the most visitor-friendly wine destinations in the state.

Grapevine’s embrace of wine didn’t happen overnight. Although the destination’s name traces back to the wild grapes that once thrived across the prairie, its modern wine identity began to take shape in the early 1990s, when local leaders leaned into Texas’s emerging wine industry and positioned Grapevine as its cultural gateway. More than three decades later, that idea has become a self-fulfilling reality. The city’s tasting rooms draw visitors from around the world, and its seasonal wine events have become fixtures on the state’s tourism calendar.
What makes Grapevine work is its blend of heritage and hospitality. The historic buildings lend charm; the producers bring credibility; and the city’s commitment to wine-focused events ties everything together. It’s the easiest and best way to immerse yourself in Texas wine culture.
The Wine Capital of Texas welcomes everyone — from the curious to the connoisseur — who wants to explore the best of Texas wines. Grapevine has it all, from Historic Main Street to the wineries around town.
The tasting rooms represent a meaningful cross-section of the Texas wine industry, from pioneering estates to boutique producers to playful newcomers. The destination’s hotels, restaurants, shops, galleries and Grapevine Vintage Railroad add unexpected depth to a wine weekend getaway. And with DFW International Airport just minutes away, Grapevine has become an ideal stopover, day trip or long weekend destination for travelers who want a taste of award-winning pours.
Like a fine wine, Grapevine is aging beautifully, offering a glimpse of how things used to be alongside the best of Texas wine, and always welcoming newcomers to the vibrant Urban Wine Trail. Cheers!
One of Grapevine’s most distinctive traditions is the 34th Annual Spring Wine Trail featuring the Traditional Blessing of the Wines & Vines. Adapted from a centuries-old European tradition, the ceremony originated in Grapevine in the early 1990s and has been held for more than three decades.
Each April, visitors gather at Peace Plaza as clergy offer prayers for a fruitful growing season. But symbolism is the point. The ritual acknowledges the agricultural soul of winemaking and honors the growers who coax each vintage into life.
After the ceremony, the celebration expands across Historic Main Street. Ticket holders stroll between tasting rooms and local art galleries, sampling newly released wines paired with small bites. It’s a blend of culture, community and Texas conviviality.
Grapevine doesn’t just celebrate the beginning of the growing
season, it keeps the momentum going with wine-centered events throughout the year. In February, the Valen-Wine (or Valentine) Wine Trail offers a sweet-themed tasting adventure through Historic District wineries. Every September, Grapevine celebrates wine with GrapeFest®, the Southwest’s Largest Wine Festival, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors for four days of Texas tastings, food pairings, grape-stomping competitions and live music along Historic Main Street. This is followed by the Hallo-Wine Trail in October, and of course, the entirety of October is full of celebrations along the Urban Wine Trail for Texas Wine Month.
As the city transforms into the Christmas Capital of Texas®, Grapevine offers festive wine-tasting events, Christmas-themed wine trains and a Historic District dressed in lights. Together, these celebrations give the city a year-round rhythm, one that keeps visitors returning long after the vines have been blessed.

As the oldest settlement in Tarrant County, settlers founded Grapevine in 1844, a year before Texas officially became a state. By 1888, the town ushered in a new era of industry, trade and population growth with the arrival of the railroad on the now Historic Cotton Belt Route, which remains a top attraction today. The city’s name comes from the wild mustang grapes that once flourished in the region, setting Grapevine on a trajectory early on to become a top wine destination, attracting millions of visitors each year to its tasting rooms and festivals. In Grapevine, you can taste history in every glass and venture out and live a local history, too.
When you hear the whistle blow and the conductor yell “All Aboard,” you know you’re in for a memorable excursion into yesteryear. Experience a journey back in time on authentic 1920’s-era luxury coaches which are climate-controlled. There are family-friendly excursions most weekends throughout the year and special holiday-themed excursions including the Easter Bunny Express, Trick ‘R Treat Trains and the beloved Santa’s North Pole Express. For the adults, enjoy special 21+ trains including the Kiss Me I’m Irish Express, Jazz Wine Trains, Disco Wine Train and more.
Discover Grapevine’s collection of museums in both painstakingly preserved 19th-century buildings and outdoor spaces created as places of reflection. Learn about Grapevine’s history through visits to the Donald Schoolhouse, the Settlement to City Museum, the Grapevine Cotton Ginner’s Museum, Sister City Friendship Hall, the Winfrey House and more.

Gaze skyward (75 feet in the air to be exact) toward the Glockenspiel Clock Tower, the only one of its kind in North America. Time it right and you’ll be rewarded with an entertaining show every two hours between 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. That’s when the mechanized fictional would-be train robbers, Nat Barrett and Willy Majors, emerge from the clock tower for a high-stakes standoff, weather permitting.
Saved by the Grapevine Historical Society in 1976, the circa-1845 Torian Log Cabin was occupied by the Torian family from the late 1880s to the 1940s in the Lonesome Dove community. It was carefully disassembled and rebuilt at its current site by Liberty Park Plaza. Similarly, the 19th-century Bushong Cabin found a new home in 2025 on Historic Main Street in Liberty Park Plaza. The Bushong Cabin tells the story of George Bushong, one of Grapevine’s founding fathers. Both allow visitors to imagine what life was like on the Grape Vine Prairie.
When Thomas Jefferson Nash built his farm in 1859, he likely had no idea his 110 acres would become Tarrant County’s oldest operating farmstead. Now open daily to visitors, several living history activities await, including First Friday events highlighting heritage skills that might even come in handy today. While there, you can see the 1869-era family house, the barn and family cemetery, all of which still exist with little change.

Golf legend John Byron Nelson, Jr. inspired the design of the original 18-hole course at Grapevine Golf Course, and its rolling fairways, sand traps and water hazards are sure to delight. In 1999, the Bluebonnet Nine was added to the original Mockingbird course and all 27 holes sit alongside two practice putting greens and a chipping/pitching area. The Grapevine Fairway Events Center opened in 2025, providing a stunning indoor and outdoor meeting venue, perfect for weddings, receptions, tournaments, corporate events and more.
The world's only NFL-branded golf course, Cowboys Golf Club has been reimagined by award-winning architect Jeff Brauer after a recently completed multimillion-dollar renovation of its 159 spectacular acres.
Renovations include recontouring many of the greens, changing the bunkering and adding an 18-hole artificial turf putting course and a driving range on a game-used Dallas Cowboys football field. The club is also an idyllic countryside wedding venue, featuring the Champion Room, the Hall of Fame and Legends bar and a covered patio that accommodates up to 230 people.
Bear Creek Golf Club features two 18-hole golf courses designed by renowned architect Ted “King of Waterscape” Robinson. Both the West and East Courses showcase large bunkers, deep rough and a wealth of sparkling water features, providing a unique challenge alongside panoramic views. The practice facility includes a driving range, putting greens and two chipping areas, complete with contoured grass and bunkers. The outdoor patio of the clubhouse, The Backyard, offers delicious barbecue, outdoor games and live entertainment.

Revived in 2001 by the North Texas section of the PGA of America, the championship was renamed the Texas Women’s Open and played at eight different North Texas golf courses until it found its home at Grapevine Golf Course in 2024.
